Apologies if old news, but I've just spotted this on BBC Sport:

Juventus have turned to Luigi Del Neri as their new coach after finishing a disappointing seventh in Serie A.

There had been much speculation that Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez could have been heading to the Turin outfit.

But 59-year-old Del Neri quit Sampdoria on Monday to take up the reins at Juve after leading the Genoa club to a Champions League qualifying berth.

On Wednesday Benitez told Spanish newspaper AS: "I've four years left on my contract. I'm very happy there."

Juventus sacked former player Ciro Ferrara as their coach in January, appointing Alberto Zaccheroni as interim boss.

But, in the closing months of the season, they were repeatedly linked with Benitez, whose Liverpool had a largely forgettable campaign, finishing seventh in the Premier League.

In addition to Sampdoria, Del Neri has also coached Roma, Porto and Atalanta.

Juve, who have won the European Cup twice and are Italy's most successful domestic club, were demoted from Serie A in 2006 after a match-fixing scandal.

As well as a disappointing league season, they failed to escape their Champions League group and were then beaten by Fulham in the Europa League.

Possibly good news for us, given the "Hodgson to Liverpool" rumblings
