I wouldn't totally be against postponing the game. After yesterday, the players could do with essentially a 2 week rest before we play West Brom
And the Greek dude might be fit then...

Nah. Need to keep the momentum going..... they must all be buzzing and raring to go....

Cravenawin

I wouldn't mind a postponement. Got my darts semi final Wednesday night.

Fixture update: The Club is currently proceeding on the basis that the Liverpool game will go ahead, but a final decision will be made on Tuesday http://ow.ly/ttJb7

Following a number of enquiries regarding how the potential London Underground strike action may affect Wednesday evening's fixture against Liverpool, the Club can confirm that it is currently proceeding on the basis that the game will go ahead.

However, the Club has concerns over the potential impact that the strike may have on the ability of its safety staff to attend the ground in sufficient time and numbers to ensure that it is able to open the ground and effectively operate it, from the time that the gates are open to the public until the departure of all supporters.

After consulting with the Local Authority and the Metropolitan Police, it has been decided that if the proposed action is still undetermined at 3pm tomorrow (Tuesday), and the Club cannot guarantee enough staff are available to attend the ground in sufficient time and numbers, then as a consequence the Club would not be able to comply with the terms of its safety certificate and the fixture would be postponed and rescheduled for a future date.

A further statement will be released at 3pm on Tuesday to confirm whether the game will go ahead or be postponed.

If I was cynical I would think that this is a nice way to postpone the game, as much as we got away with great result yesterday, Liverpool just thrashed Arsenal so we could probably do without the game and have more time to integrate the new signings in ahead of Baggies game...will not be surprised if they cant get enough safety stewards to show up...

So if I understand correctly, unless the Unions flat out say that they will NOT be striking on Wednesday, the game will be off

Fulham vs Liverpool at Craven Cottage could be called off due to Tube strike

Fulham's clash with Liverpool on Wednesday could be called off - due to the London Tube strike.

The west Londoners are in talks with the Premier League about a possible postponement of the match after Safety Advisory Groups (SAG), responsible for overseeing spectator safety at sports grounds, recommended it is cancelled on Wednesday unless the planned strike is averted.

A final decision is expected to be made by Fulham at 3pm on Tuesday afternoon.

Craven Cottage officials have earmarked Wednesday, March 26 for the rescheduled match if this week's game is called off.

London Underground workers staged a 48-hour walkout last week, which caused travel chaos across the capital. Another 48-hour strike is planned from 9pm on Tuesday unless a last-ditch deal can be agreed between LU bosses and union leaders.

It is understood that Fulham made an application to SAG, which is chaired by Hammersmith & Fulham Council and includes representatives from the emergency services, last week to call off Wednesday's fixture at Craven Cottage, which begins at 8pm.

The west London club feared they would not have the required staff numbers to safely operate a match if the Tube is unavailable. The nearest overground station is Putney and that is a 20-minute walk from Craven Cottage.

From Mailonline...

Fulham employ 1,200 staff on match days and the majority of these tend to come from east London.

Fulham's unique infrastructure and location on the banks of the River Thames means the Tube strike is more of an issue than it is at capital rivals Arsenal, who host Manchester United on Wednesday night. Emirates Stadium is served by three nearby overground stations.

Fulham are waiting on the approval of the Premier League before they announce a postponement, in order to avoid a fine from the governing body.

League officials had asked the London club to see if there was any development in the Tube strike talks over the weekend and Monday before making a final decision.

Anyone have the feeling that Fulham are angling for this ?

Seems like a good move to me following Shef utd and Man Utd games - must be a few weary limbs.

Gives us a nice long rest (bar those off with their countries) to prepare for one of the biggest games of the year against W.B.A. Plus the Greek striker SHOULD be fit by then, so he can be unleashed on West Brom without them knowing how to deal with him (having not seen what Fulham plan to do with him)

The club have said that they are assuming the fixture will be going ahead, but a final review and announcement will be made during the course of tomorrow.

kevin

what a stroke of luck if its called off
Wouldn't fancy playing Liverpool at the moment and it gives our lot a chance to recover and get the Greek fit for WBA

Rhys Lightning 63

Just checked the West Ham page (they have a game against Norwich tomorrow night at Upton Park). They don't give any mention to the game possibly being called off, they just warn supporters that there may be delays

Didn't realise it was an international break, I thought we were not playing as we were due to play someone who had an FA Cup game that weekend.
Every day is a Fulham day
