What is it about players we sign for a fee over £10m .
Manlet £10m striker, he could not strike a match.
Ruiz .  £10m Mid/ striker, he had a few moments of magic but on the whole he was not value for money.
Mitroglou. £12m Not fit when we bought him. From what I saw yesterday he has a lot more training to do to get fit ( I was counting on him to score the goals to keep us up)
I just hope he is fit for the game against Chelsea and scores a late winner.

You forgot to mention Andy Johnson- injury prone, sounds as if Mitroglou may have a dodgy knee as well.

We would all love to see Mitroglou get a couple against Chelsea but somehow I suspect Terry will not give him a look in.

Give the bloke a chance - he comes with a great record, and not of a 'sick note.'

It's generally thought that it's been a coup for Fulham to get him.

epsomraver

Give it a rest, give the bloke a chance, watch the two superb goals he scored for the U 21's before you start slagging him off, all strikers need service, he got nothing!

Mitroglol

What exactly did you expect him to do with all 4 touches he had with the ball. Since it seems your team didn't want to cross the dreaded midfield line for some reason... or mby they couldn't.
Also I don't know if you have watched any fulham games but I wouldn't count on the whites scoring late winners anytime soon.
You paid 12m quid, for a guy that if he'd stayed to play CL knock outs with olympiacos and then the World Cup, a BPL bottom team wouldn't even dream of getting.

Frankly, some of you guys are just poor supporters, no other way to put it.
Anyway, I won't respond to other threads like this, don't want to seem like his apologist.

As much as you're welcome on here, please don't go around branding members as 'poor' supporters just because Mitrogolou has picked up a bit of criticism. People have opinions, they are entitled to them, but that doesn't make them poor fans by any stretch. If you're a real fan of Mitrogolou, try to defend his corner, put across your opinion, and put those right by being constructive, not insulting. Comparing your teams fortunes to Fulham's won't win you any fans either. 12 million quid or not, your boy Mitrogolou has a much bigger challenge trying to keep Fulham in the Premiership, rather than trying to keep Olympiacos afloat in the CL knock out stages.

I agree - let's lay off him until Chelsea when he will be fitter by another week and see how he plays.

However...................that first touch he had from Hangeland's forward pass when he failed to jump and handled it seemed to bring a collective quiet groan from around us at the Hawthorns !! Here we go again (maybe)!!! -  let's hope I am wrong but I am entitled to my first impressions.

nose

the problem yesterday, and i will do my best to be factual was... and bear in mind i went to the game and had a brilliant view of the pitch......  he was either still rather injured and he was wearing cycle shorts under the kit suggesting that was the case... OR he is exceptionally lazy.
He chased nothing, he bearly left the centre circle, he didn't seem to have any energy at all.
If he is not really fit then it was unkind to risk him, i would prefer to wait and see how he is when properly ready, but if he is fit, then that was an exceptionally poor first appearance just besed on complete lack of effort... I was there, I saw it and you can't see that on any TV screen.
His first touch was a handball, his second and third touches were pretty good, i don't recall him doing anything else so can't comment on a fouryh touch
but certainly in the premiership you have to work hard (actually all the best players work very hard, it doesn't hapen by accident that they are good),

Julius Geezer

Whether we had brought on Mitroglou or Robin Van Persie - it wouldn't have mattered.

We were nowhere near the West Brom goal - the area he is most dangerous.

Yes he looked rusty, but the over-the-top, exaggerated criticism of him already is dumb.

I'm sure some people just want to be able to say: "I told you so..."

If he scores some vital goals in the run-in, I hope the people writing him off will slap themselves.

The Greek poster Mitroglol wasn't wrong in most of what he said!

Does make me laugh to read some of the posts. so many people gave woeful pathetic ruiz the benefit of the doubt for the best part of two years and are writing Mitrogolu off after 30 mins!

I was there Saturday and it didn't matter if we had Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo's love child up front there was nothing he could do. Even with Rodders up front we insisted on playing high balls up to our front man against possibly the biggest centre back partnership in the league

You need to build the team around his style. He is worth it, believe me.
He is not pacy, but he is an excellent striker! Be patient!

For what ive seen, he had no service what so ever. There was the moment where he attempted to control it with his chest and was clear through, if it hadnt been called back for contact with his arm, he would have for sure had a pop.

I haven't written him off, as I said I expected him to score the goals to keep us up.

Give him a chance,we had stopped putting service into the front men at the end of the first half, and if he was lazy magath knows him as a player and wouldn't pick him if he was lazy no chance.

westcliff white

isnt this his first knee injury? hardly a dodgy knee suspect. we need to give a break and let him play. I am sure he will be fitter for the next game, maybe 60 minute fit, then maybe we can start him and get rid of rodders.

On the other hand, I follow a famous barca forum and there are some people that run down messi after every defeat, "sell messi while he's profitable", "too lazy", "why does he walk all the time" etc, so I should expect this kind of stuff in every team.

Mitroglol,

I would imagine a lot of the angst is FFC fans wondering why a month after buying Mitro, he still likely won't be fit to start a match, or why FFC would buy him in that condition if it was apparent in the medical.

There are several possible explanations, so we'll have to wait and see.

At least after khans quote we know who's signing he was, and that's Ali Mac.

I suspect we knew the extent of the injury and were willing to sign the player despite that because he was such a high profile and highly sort after striker.

Ruiz had touch, the ability to see and execute a good pass. If Mitro had shown either of these attributes, it would be easier to be more patient.

Until Felix took off Richardson, Fulham was at least making an attempt to attack. Mitro was the target of several passes. Those passes that didn't carom off him, those he didn't handle, didn't get to him because he didn't react quickly enough. I'm sure it was his immobility and lack of aggression that caused Felix to shut up shop. Blaming that for his poor play may be comforting, but it's not accurate.

You have to wonder, however, why a club desperate for a new striker to hit the ground running, with only a limited number of games left before it's all too late, signed an expensive player who is injured and unfit. No matter how good he turns out to be in the last 8 or 9 games, we needed him to be good 2 weeks ago. Not a shot at him, but at the powers that signed him.
