Well there we have it

You doom mongers have finally got it right but it has taken you a while. Season after season, some of you have predicted Fulham's demise and until now, you were wrong. However, I must admit, that this season, we deserved to go down.

However, we now have the situation were, buoyed by your success, some of you are predicting further humiliation for Fulham and in some cases worse. Now, I know you are right this time but how can you predict next season, when we do not know who will be playing for us or indeed managing us, also, how we will adapt to our new status. Personally, I hope we do well but just like anyone else, I do not have a scooby Dooh how it is going to go but then, I am new to this predicting lark

It depends on Khan's commitment which I believe is there.  Backed by a multi-billionaire we should keep many of the players we want to keep, and Ali Mack should carry-the-can for so many mistakes and be dismissed.

Personally I think we should get Rene Muelensteen and even Alan Curbishley back and move Magath out pronto!  We need a coach who knows something about the English league and a manager with his head screwed on.

It hard to predict. Kahn has money, but he's historically a realist and I am not sure he understands English football. Also I am not sure Ally Mac and crew are up to finding the right mix to make promotion happen. They got it all Pete Tong this season didn't they?

I also liked Rene and personally think he might have done a lot better going forward regardless we stayed up or went down even though it seems most question his experience which is understandable. But that ship has sailed and bridge burnt I'd think, so onwards and upwards hopefully.

Well said Peabody. It's impossible to predict next season but there's so much dead-cert "we will not come back up" talk that it can only be knee-jerk. I'm hoping so anyway.

I'd rather piss (sorry pass) on that option thanks.  Only even vaguely feasible I just might welcome would be Jean Tigana, we played beautiful football in the second divn under his leadership.

Peabody I like you but a lot of your recent posts seem to be having a go at people on the board for being negative, which it think is unfair. This is a message board - an outlet for people to give their thoughts and feelings on the past, present and future of the club, based on what they've seen and experienced. No one is saying they know for certain we won't come back up, only that they do not feel that we will given our current situation. There's nothing wrong with that and there's nothing wrong with using this message board to vent, discuss and lament all the disasters this season that have led us to that situation.

I hope to god we do come straight back up but under the current management and with the amount of overhaul required I don't feel that we have what it takes at this stage.

After you have welcomed me so much in the past i thought it right to come on and say that it is a sad day when you lot go down, unfair and mismanagement cost you dear! as it almost cost us at Villa!

Heres hoping you come back at the first time of asking! The Cottage is one of my fave away grounds and it will be missed next season!

could have quite easily been us!

Who guessed Derby and Burnley may well both be going up to the premiership? even in November no one thought either had a hope. Burnley have done it and Derby Favorites to join them so next season every thing is up for grabs, we no we will have a very different squad if we are fit and up for it at the start who knows.
I go with the view its far too early to predict either our resurrection or demise, yesterday has gone, we will just have to wait and see what happens as next season unfolds, Wigan were right out of it then came storming back into the playoffs, QPR were topping the table and at one point their fans thought may even drop out of a playoff spot.
Its Football as the famous saying goes 'we need to take it one game at a time'' :wine:

Thank you for your nice comments Pluto and you are right, I have targeted the negative side of this board because I think (yes an opinion) that the negative arguments go to far when they start saying that we will not be coming back anytime soon. They, just like me, do not know that for sure, they may be right but what would you rather have, people turning up for first game next season, all ready convinced that we are wasting our time, or, with a smile on our face ready for the battles ahead.

Pluto

Very valid points from both of the above posts. Fingers crossed we can mount a challenge, though I hope we can make some changes to boost our chances. I'll be there at the first game of the season smiling and singing regardless  049:gif

What we do need is a younger squad. We have 46 games next season and half the current squad struggled to play 26 this year. Add in the cup games and with any luck you are looking at well in to the 50+ games. We won't be able to compete in the latter stages of the season unless we find younger players with proven ability at this level.

I see a season of consolidation with so much change needed and then have a proper run at it the year after. As it stands though unless some major changes are made, we will struggle next year (but I am not predicting relegation Peabody!)

My dream is that we do a repeat of what Docherty did with UTD when they went down, flew straight back up with a bunch of very talented kids playing great attacking football scoring for fun and just kept on going from there.

whilst i have not commented on next season and have been appauled at what went on this and the last couple of seasons and said so, i don't know what to make of next year. we need to wait and see what descisions khan makes and whether he gets a decennt management team in to run the place, and a younger manager with a bit of ambition IMO, and a virtually totally new squad.

i like the youngsters and stockers but as for the rest..... what a waste of space

jarv

Just buy 2 Scottish strikers, proven in that division. McCormack and Rhodes, they will bag a wheelbarrow load next season.

Pluto

I've said it before but id love for us to get McCormack.
