Correct. In fact ever since 1967 QPR and us have been like two ends of a see-saw, with opposing fates and rarely coinciding. We were as you describe for 11 or 12 seasons and this does depress our average, just as the last 11/12 seasons have been depressing the averages for Leeds, Forest, Sheff Weds...

In terms of loveliness of setting, and the amount of glamour we've had associated with us over the years, we are a cut above likes of Charlton, but in all measureable respects we are right alongside them as dead average over the long term for a Championship club.  It's helpful that potential recruits will have grown up with us as a prem club, we've a top academy right now and we have parachute payments, all advantages to be exploited while they last.
