I posted the article and excerpts as I think its worth a discussion overall in itself.

Magath's latest communication makes the situation regarding Kiraly's signing quite clear:

I think it fair to warn that it is a sensible and rather impressive piece, and therefore may not be to everyone's taste.
that says to me that he wanted a new keeper, but were priced out of it and will now settle with a kid and an old cheaply as cover. I'd love to see Marcus take the reigns and excell, but going on that, it was never Felix's intentions to throw them in this season
CHRIS MARTIN IS SO BAD,  WE NOW PRAISE HIM FOR MAKING A RUN.

Another statement of intent by the club. Why oh why did we let Stockdale go  fp.gif
Because he isn't very good?
or, because he was worth some money. No matter how you look at it, we have considerably weakened our goal keeping options.
Is that necessarily the case?  Maybe the way the team looks at it is, we already know Stockdale is OK but nothing special, and maybe one of the younger guys could turn out to be better, so we've weakened ourselves a bit in the near term in order to have a chance at strengthening ourselves in the long term?
how though, the two boys were already here. And Stockdale was more than OK in this division as he had already won promotion from it.
Are you asking how we're stronger long-term without Stockdale?  We're stronger long-term because the young goalkeepers only get the playing time to develop into better players without Stockdale here.  And, as Magath has said more than once, it's not just about being good enough *in this division*, it's about developing a team that's good enough to compete in the Premier League.  Will Joronen or Bettinelli ever be that good?  Well, I have no idea, but at this point it seems a fair bet that Stockdale won't ever be, given that nobody better than Brighton wanted to sign him.
that's providing this new bloke doesn't take up there game time.
I agree.  I certainly hope that is not the case.

We had 4 keepers who could not all be number one, we sold one but he was number 12, we then got rid of the one who was number 1 which left two keepers. The two already had numbers 40 and 41 as the were not choice one or two. The new keeper has been given the shirt number of the second one who left who was actually the number one a few months ago.
