Report: Fulham eye Jermaine Beckford, Matt Smith

Fulham are reportedly poised to make a deadline day move for Bolton Wanderers striker Jermaine Beckford.

The Cottagers are said to have contacted Bolton over the 30-year-old - whose contract at the Reebok Stadium expires next summer - according to The Mirror.

The report goes on to state that Fulham are also interested in Leeds United striker Matt Smith, just weeks after the 25-year-old signed a new contract at Elland Road.

Both moves could be related to Hugo Rodallega's proposed switch to Levante.

Fulham hunt three new bodies before 11pm deadline

Fulham are in talks to sign three new players before the 11pm transfer window deadline this evening. According to Sky Sports News HQ they are interested in Jermaine Beckford from Bolton Wanderers, Mark Hudson from Cardiff City and Matt Smith from Leeds United.

Jermaine Beckford is a Jamaican international striker who is vastly experienced in the Championship has also played in the Premier League with Everton. At 30 years of age he has perhaps struggled in recent seasons but Fulham could offer him a new opportunity.

Defender Mark Hudson meanwhile is the club captain at Cardiff City and has played 141 league games for the team but only played twice in last season's Premier League relegation campaign. He cost the Bluebirds around £1m in July 2009 and has endeared himself to fans since, even scoring a goal from his own half (68 yards) against Derby County. He is a fan favourite and certainly would bolster the Cottagers defence.

The third player they are rumoured to be seeking is Matt Smith of Leeds United. Fulham would love to add the 25-year-old striker to their ranks, a deal that would hurt Leeds. Smith scored 12 times last season in the Championship but is yet to find the net in the three games he has played so far this campaign.

Felix Magath is desperate to add some quality to his squad that has only picked up a single point in the Championship this season. Relegated Fulham were amongst the favourites to push for promotion back to the Premier League this year but so far things have not gone to plan at Craven Cottage.

Transfer news: Fulham chasing trio on deadline day, including Jermaine Beckford

Jermaine Beckford could be leaving Bolton to join another struggling Championship side Fulham.

Jermaine Beckford is one of three players being sought by Fulham on transfer deadline day, according to Sky sources.

The others are Leeds striker Matt Smith and defender Mark Hudson of Cardiff City.

But the standout name is that of 30-year-old London-born Jamaican Beckford, who has been at fellow Championship club Bolton for just over a year.

The much-travelled Beckford has also played for Huddersfield, Leicester, Everton, Scunthorpe, Carlisle and Leeds.

The Cottagers, who like Bolton are yet to win a league game this season, are reportedly hoping to off-load strikers Bryan Ruiz and Hugo Rodallega.

Costa Rican Ruiz joined Fulham in 2011 but spent the final months of last season with PSV Eindhoven in the Netherlands.

Colombian Rodallega has been in west London for two years, having joined from Wigan.

Report: Valencia join race for Hugo Rodallega

Valencia have reportedly attempted to hijack Levante's deadline day move for Fulham forward Hugo Rodallega.

Reports emanating from Spain this afternoon had suggested that the 29-year-old was the subject of a bid from Levante.

However, according to The Mirror, los Che have joined the race for Rodallega after missing out on Manchester City hitman Alvaro Negredo.

The Colombian, whose contract at Craven Cottage expires next summer, has been with Fulham since 2012 following a three-year spell with Wigan Athletic.
