Senderos Played Very Well for Villa Today

I miss him.  Played with a lot of heart and determination.  Never a discouraging word about anyone or anything.  Whether you thought he was a good player or not, you had to appreciate his character.  The player who so many thought wasn't good enough to wear a Fulham shirt is looking pretty good for AV right now.

So what?

He's gone and he won't be coming back.

Yes he always  showed heart playing for Fulham, but did seem often uncertain and nervous, but shows how  he plays with more confidence with a more confident team, and a different defensive set up around him.

But all our Prem players have gone, and many will probably be more successful elsewhere than they were for Fulham.

But it's understandable that  we follow their careers with interest.

Forever Fulham

That's the thing about being a fan, isn't it?   When they leave, you don't shut off those feelings like a spigot.  You still follow their careers.

he certainly did not play well for us.
I thought he played well and with a lot of heart for us but everyone focused on his mistakes which were not as frequent as everyone claimed, but he was labelled an accident waiting to happen so even when he played well that was held against him. Never understood why he got so much flack when Hangeland played far worse and made worse mistakes, which often put Senderos in trouvble trying to cover. I was really surprised when we let him go, even more surprised when Hangeland was recalled by Magath.

He played with his heart on his sleeve, but was a donkey 90% of the time.

Northern Cottager

How did every other player who ever played for us and is still a professional footballer get on this weekend?

Senderos was a donkey and a massive liability but he worked hard.

The Old Count

Whilst everyone is entitled to their opinion some of the posts on here are disrespectful and ignorant.

Senderos was exposed so many times by other defenders and often ended up looking like the culprit. He was played out of position in a back four that was set up badly and unsupported by the midfield. Roy thought he was good enough for us as did Hughes.  Lambert thinks he's good enough for Villa. He's played well this season and good luck to him.

Look where he is and where we are.

Spot on.Good post

That's the thing, he's actually a very comfortable centre back; look at him in an okay defence, it's nothing special but it's well drilled. There's the key.

Burt

When he played for us he was solid rather than spectacular, and committed to the cause.

He had his shaky moments, but most of the back line did.

It was a bit unfair for him to get singled out when the others were just as bad at times.

Good luck to him.

lets face our back 4 was useless last season no matter who played . Senderos is a donkey but there were others worse than him.

Pluto

You'd have to be brainless to say Senderos was "a donkey" - he was probably our best centre back last season during the time he was with us, and was certainly no more at fault than the rest of the back four. He was also a real trier who gave 100 percent every game, never moaned and always had time for the fans despite some of the undue vitriol levelled against him.

I remember the gathering of spotty little urchins on sky sports outside motspur in January cheering when his transfer was announced, and thinking how embarrassing they were to be seen as representative of the fans of our club.

Senderos played well for us and has since played well in European competitions for Valencia and is now plying his trade in the Premier League for Villa whilst we're second from bottom in the championship. He has arguably been their player of the season so far. I think that's more than enough egg on some people's faces.
