I know how passionate Brazilian fans are but this seems a bit callous to me.
I wonder if it will be inserted in new players contracts that they have to be buried
there, which somehow doesn't seem fair on the families of players that die.

70,000 plots  !!! you could be buried a long way from your favorite player

Lots of moral issues here I feel.

I wouldn't say it was callous.  Just daft and a tad cynical.  Even in death fans are being milked to generate revenue.

What's the objection so long as there's no compulsion (on players or fans!)?

Don't you think there is on both.

Let's say you want to be buried near   XXXXX your favourite player, you have either purchased a plot and die first or your family buy a plot.
When  XXXXX dies his family want him buried in their tiny little village in the rainforest.
The club say NO because YYYYY people have paid to be buried near him.

A tug of war begins and who gains:  Lawyers, Burial site owners, Corinithians (I'm assuming)

What happens if a top player is over-subscribed by burial neighbours, are they auctioned on the black market or
Christie's
"Lot number 57 is a burial plot, 67 places and 4 rows from the legendary XXXXXX what am I offered"  ?

Also what happens if for example the player is kidnapped and the body is never recovered, 50 people have paid
hard earned money to be buried next to an empty hole.
I know this is perhaps a far fetched example, but 'kidnapped' could be replaced by various happenings.

Is that not a moral or even legal issue.

Can you imagine that happening in the UK ?

You're assuming people can buy a plot near to someone still alive.  If that were the case then yes, I agree it's a moral and legal nightmare, but if one just buys a plot in the cemetery in the hope/expectation that you'll be in the same area as some players in due course then that's different.  The article says other clubs, Boca Juniors being named, do this  -  I wonder how they work it.  Here you're more likely to get people wanting their ashes scattered on the pitch, which I believe some clubs permit.

Old Trafford is already a graveyard, for the likes of Moyes!!   :005:
Logical is just in the name - don't expect it has anything to do with my thought process, because I AM the man who sold the world.
