Mince n Tatties

I mentioned couple of weeks ago that there was a whisper about we were
really keen on Bournemouth Star Winger Matt Ritchie.
According to Football League Paper today We are ready to make a move for him
when the window opens.
Ritchie who cost 500, 000 is now valued at £4 million by the Cherries, but that want
put the Cottagers off.

Probably just some lazy hack filling column space.

But our next opponents fans don't seem to like it. 079.gif 049:gif

Never in a million years, there's not one of our players who would want to leave right now, unless it was to one of the bigger teams in the Premiership.

The way we're being managed and playing, no one in their right mind would want away from AFCB.

How many clubs has Ritchie been leaving us for according to rumours since he joined from Swindon?

Having a quick look around there, under their "Who can we realistically get in in January ?", a few seem convinced there is a good chance Charlie Adam will go to them.

I'll file that one quietly alongside Defoe coming here in January and assume they have as many deluded fans as we do.

Why the feck would Matt want to give up a potential Championship winners medal and Promotion to the Prem (with a huge wage increase in the process) to sign for mid table no-hopers Fulham?!

£4 million?! £14 million more like !!!!!

Your run of the mill, common garden variety decent Championship winger goes for 4 Mil these days. But I think I remember seeing a stat on Sky that said Ritchie has (so far this season) created more chances than any other winger in the league.

So basically, he can go for 8. And a half.

If he was a Leeds player , they'd be looking for 10 mill +.

Not even being top of the league is enough to lose the 'small club' tag.

To be fair we are "little old Bournemouth in the Premiership, who'd have thought eh?" so of course he would obviously jump at the chance to go to a massive club like Fulham.

My favourite comment from that thread:- 'we can beat Bournemouth, it's Boscombe I'm worried about'.

I have to smile at the Bournemouth fans comments as they are a bit delusional and think that players have some loyalty to small clubs such as theirs. They need to get realistic with the word money from a player and club perspective. They are a very small club with probably a small salary cap so someone coming in who is prepared to double or treble the players money will look very attractive, especially if the manager also leaves, although he has committed himself to them, but money talks.
To be honest I don't think we will get him in Jan even if we are keen, one of the lower Prem clubs will come in for him.

Mince n Tatties

If we offer good contract and double what he being paid at Bournemouth, I
believe Ritchie would come.
Bournemouth lettiing him is another matter..

Actually they dont need the money, they have financial backing, and
plans to double ground size or move to new one.

Bill2:  I think your dismissive comments about Bournemouth are harsh:  They have a very wealthy backer (we have had two) and their current position is little different to the situation we were in a few years back on our climb thro the Leagues.  They have spent well (unlike us in a lot of cases) and have a young manager seemingly committed to playing decent football and nurturing success.  Of course I hope we beat them on Friday but take nothing for granted.  We are just as likely to ship another shed load.

Maxime Demin only owns a 50% share of AFC Bournemouth, initially paying £850,000. His overall wealth isn't known, but he previously bought a 5m mansion on Sandbanks. I'd say best of luck to them, I like these fairytale type stories, bit like Gretna. Seeing Bournemouth in the Premiership competing against the elite would be a revelation but.. they'd get destroyed, and the aftermath would prob wipe them out.

If they are serious about becoming a bigger, more sufficient Club, then I feel they need to be in the Championship for a bit longer, grow the ground, the fan-base, and make the jump at the right time.

It's nice to be positive, but I see a few of their fans aren't being realistic. Alright, we've had a bit of a bad start to the season, but to compare our current status to theirs is ludicrous. We've got years on AFC Bournemouth being an established Club, and it takes more than having 2 half decent seasons to achieve that.
