It's Sunday. I was on the computer working and just starting working things out.

OK, here is some stats.

Since Kit took over we average 1.8 points per game.

If we keep that average going till the end of the season, we will reach 71.2 points.

If we can increase that to 2 points per game, we will reach 76 points.

Over the last ten years, the 6th place club has averaged 72.7 points. The most is 75 and that has been reached 4 times.

Now, without getting into a discussion about getting promoted being a good thing. In August, we entered a competition. I think we all hoped for at least a play off place.

After 8 games, we looked relegation certainties.

Well, the facts are, if we keep the form of the last 15 games going, we have to hope for that surely, especially if we buy shrewdly in Jan, well, we will be right in the mix for the play off places.

This is so much more fun than the Premiership

If you look at the table we have lost to 5 of the top 6 - and we play the other one on Boxing Day. I think how we get on against those teams in the second half of the season will determine whether we can really push for play offs. We do seem to be playing with more confidence at the moment, so you never know. Ask again after we have played Bournemouth........

We are good enough to be a top 10 team, and to be fair I still think the best is definitely still yet to come with this group of players. That being said, and as AD mentioned, we have lost to 5 of the 6 top teams except Bournemouth, and that just shows their level in comparison to us at the moment. The key to us getting promotion places is that we are going to have beat/draw those teams, definitely beat the teams around us, and to hope that the top 6 teams knock points off each other as well. Is this impossible, no not at all but it is a very tough ask. We are still in a competition, the season still has 24 games in it which mean that 72 points are still for the taking. We can do it, but we need to really shore up the defense and get the boys ready for a long second half of the season.
Someone once asked me, "Why Fulham?".
My response, "Well, lad, you just haven't seen the light yet"

Yes we don't really want to be promoted yet as we clearly are no where near good enough. But the turnaround has been such a shock that I must admit I am enjoying life in this division more than I thought I would. It really turns on any small incident each and every game.

January may be interesting or we may just be happy to hang on to what we have got. Whatever happens I will be happy if we continue and not end up in a scrap at the wrong end of the table.
The above IS NOT A LEGAL DOCUMENT. It is an opinion.

We may yet hear the horse talk.

I can stand my own despair but not others hope

ATM no-one is either promoted, relegated or in the Play-offs.
QPArse were flying last season then went on a terrible run after Christmas.
There is nothing stopping any team from going on a positive run and grabbing 20+ points in ten games and suddenly you are right up there. We need to buy at least one more defender in my opinion and a decent midfielder with pace to replace Ruiz's exit.
Lets hope Khan gives Kit the money to spend.

There's a lot to do, but firstly, we need to become hard-to-beat, at the moment we're still having slips here-and-there (Brentford, Watford, Middlesbrough, Blackpool) and not picking up points where we should be, or these losses disrupt a good run and we have to look at restarting again.

If we can avoid loss at Bournemouth, that should put us into an excellent position for the visit of Brighton and into the New Year, then Kit can becoming adjusting the side as he feels fit; hopefully getting rid of the deadwood and bringing in that game-changing quality to compliment us as we look to storm up the table.

I hate to keep using this example but:

At this game day (Match 21) in 2011-12, Reading had one more point than we currently have. They brought in Jason Roberts who done very well, and they went on to win 19 of their remaining 25 games (4 losses, 2 draws) to pip Southampton to first place - they were 10th on Matchday 21, so we are a little bit further than they were, but that shows it's possible, with the kind of form that you require to do it.

I'm going to wait and see what happens by the end of January, but I'm still hopeful.
