Something I find very distasteful regarding all this is an issue I will refer to as a conviction (details can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Owen_Oyston).

My interest in this stems from a report yesterday on the BBC concerning the Ched Evans case, which stated that as Ched had been convicted of that same type of offence, had appeals against conviction dismissed, and had also not admitted his guilt, then management of any Football Club would be automatically blocked by the FA rules concerning such convictions.

How does the majority shareholder position fit in with the Fit & proper person rules then?

Nothing in this post - or any responses - should be taken as a condemnation or view on any persons morality or judgement, but merely to understand the similarities or otherwise between what appears to be two similar cases in English law and the FA Rules.
