I think the point is that although, of course, there is no need to say anything if Kit is continuing, unless the owner is totally oblivious to fan reaction at some of the matches and media comment, never mind forums like this, he knows Kit is far from universally popular. While not coming out with a "I have very confidence in Kit" statement, if Kit is to stay it would have been good PR, and supportive of Kit, to have said something indirect which made Kit's position clear. For example: "I've had discussions with MR, KS and AM and indicated the resources for the coming season and they know they have my full support as they get down to work to strengthen the squad so that we have a better season."

I suspect Khan has the same PR advisor as Thomas Cook.
