Sporting Lisbon in discussions with Fulham over the transfer of Bryan Ruiz

Portugese press are reporting that Sporting Lisbon have been in discussions with Fulham over the transfer of Bryan Ruiz. The negotiations are being handled by Sporting Director Augustus Inacio and last week, a member of Sportings senior team flew to London to meet with Fulham in relation to the transfer.

Portugese newspaper 'La Nacion' contacted Sporting for comment and they confirmed "this matter is being handled by the president (Augustus Inacio) and we're moving along with the process". They added that there could be significant progress in the negotiations tomorrow.

Fulham recently exercised a clause in Ruiz's contract that meant it extended by a further year in the hope that we can receive a fee for his transfer. No fee was mentioned in the article but you would hope that we should receive up to 2 millions Euros for his transfer.

Ruiz Interesting Sporting Lisbon

Many might have suspected that Fulham`s Costa Rican star Bryan Ruiz would have left Craven Cottage by now.

After our fall from grace from the Premier League to the Championship, the inference was that Ruiz, being one of our high earners would be moved on.

But that hasn`t proven to be the case and Fulham exercised an option in the players` contract to keep him at Craven Cottage for a further year, in the hope that rather than let an expensive acquisition leave for free a fee could somehow be recouped.

That could be the case with reports filtering through that the Portuguese outfit, Sporting Lisbon, are in talks to purchase the player.

Reports suggest that someone from Sporting`s senior team arrived in London to meet with Fulham to negotiate the transfer.

At this stage no fee has been mentioned and we`ll endeavour to report further if / when any additional news is received.

Fulham bid for Wolves defender Richard Stearman

HITC Sport understands that Fulham have made a bid for Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Richard Stearman.

HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club that Fulham have launched a raid on Championship rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers for defender Richard Stearman.

Fulham boss Kit Symons is planning a major rebuilding job at Craven Cottage this summer after a disappointing season this term when they narrowly avoided relegation from the Championship.

Symons has made a new central defender one of his priorities and he sees Stearman's experience and versatility as a key addition to his squad.

Stearman has established himself as a key figure at Wolves after his future hung in the balance in January 2013 when he was sent out on loan to Ipswich Town.

The 27-year-old battled his way back into the first-team under Kenny Jackett and helped the club win promotion back to the Championship last season before another stellar campaign this term as Wolves missed out on a place in the play-offs on goal difference.

Stearman is entering the final year of his contract at Molineux and Wolves would be reluctant to lose the former Leicester City man to a rival like Fulham as they plan to make another bid for promotion next season.

Should Wolves keep Richard Stearman?
