Good choice! Very happy with the decision, just disappointed that it's taken so long that we're now out of play off contention.

Do we think Curbishley, Rigg and Gray will all stay on? Looks a bit like a case of "we've got 3 (4?!) managers" again?

Fulham name former Watford boss Slavisa Jokanovic as new head coach

Fulham have confirmed that former Watford manager Slavisa Jokanovic is their new head coach - 49 days after sacking previous boss Kit Symons.

The 47-year-old Serbian leaves his post as boss of Maccabi Tel Aviv, who currently top the Israeli Premier League and lost all six of their Champions League Group G games this season.

Jokanovic joined the Israeli champions after leading Watford to promotion from the Championship last term. He had joined the Hornets on a short-term deal and was unable to agree a longer contract in the summer.

But after returning to England, Fulham chairman Shahid Khan said: "I am extremely proud to announce that Slavisa will be joining as our first team head coach.

Slavisa's credentials and passion for the job rose to the top through every stage of this process, and we cannot wait to welcome him.

Shahid Khan
"We considered many quality candidates for what we considered to be one of the best positions in football, and I personally interviewed most of them.

"While the search was time-consuming and painstaking at times, I knew that when the process was complete that Fulham would have the best man possible for this opportunity and challenge.

"Slavisa's credentials and passion for the job rose to the top through every stage of this process, and we cannot wait to welcome him to Motspur Park and Craven Cottage to get things going in the right direction for the second half of the season."

Fulham have indeed endured a "painstaking" search for a new head coach that has seen them fail in their efforts to hire at least four different candidates.

After sacking Symons on November 8, the club said they initially hoped to have a new man in charge over subsequent international break but instead saw moves for Nigel Pearson, Steve Clarke, Paul Lambert and Gary Rowett all go wrong.

Reports then emerged of an interest in Rangers boss Mark Warburton, but Sky Sports News HQ understands the Whites have never explored the idea of bringing him to Craven Cottage and Warburton declared he had no interest in a move.

Fulham's U21s boss Peter Grant took the first team for three matches - two draws and a defeat that left them 16th in the table - before the Whites brought in former Sheffield Wednesday boss Stuart Gray into an interim role.

Gray has overseen two draws and two defeats but will continue as a senior first-team coach under the new man.

Hail to the mighty Khan.
A few will have egg on their faces now. Oh & there are bound to be a few slagging Jokanovic off if not started already.

Think Jokanovic was the standout candidate for the role. Thankfully Khan has proved most of us wrong with his intent by taking time to get the seemingly 'right' candidate in place.

Agreed about the quality of Jokanovic. However it is evident on reading the release that Khan took control of the process despite having a DoF responsible for starting the process with the Clarke

Not sure about that inference... One thing it does say is that Khan didn't even interview all the candidates which to me is inconsistent with him being in control of the process

Not really - it is common in any company for a director to interview a candidate, but only when they get through to a certain stage of the recruitment. He isn't going to waste his time interviewing everyone before they've even got through the initial stages.

Plus the "evidence" about Rigg - leave it out, there's no evidence whatsoever. If Rigg had announced the appointment you'd still be kicking off about Rigg being arrogant or power hungry, and Khan being absent or whatever.

I was defending Rigg. My point was it seems that Rigg was still managing the process with Khan just having final sign-off.

Sorry I edited straight after posting as I wasn't clear - that second paragraph wasn't aimed at you! I was half agreeing half disagreeing.

Let's remember patience is what we all need it's not gonna happen overnight he knows nothing much of the players he's inheriting and he can't get anymore for the time being so let's give him plenty of support Tuesday evening.

500,000 English pounds in compensation.
He had better pay Fulham FC back with a top six place in May, and a Wembley appearance in League as well as an FA Cup Final.
yeah right woolly-I'll be happy to stay up after the last 9 matches

Should know owners don't like being involved in bad news :-)

Strange that no date has been mentioned.  The statement is rather short on any detail.

and can we merge the Jokanovic in threads ?

valdeingruo

It was my lucky shirt and scarf that did it. Just arrived back from Japan. Haven't had it during the whole bad run. You could probably blame the whole thing on me.
Self proclaimed tactical genius, football manager approved.

Might  start a thread on when will the new head coach win his first game? Reckon it could rival rl63 thread. Specially as we don't know when he's starting
