Fulham deserved the draw says Huddersfield Town boss David Wagner

It was all square in a clash of similar styles at the John Smith's Stadium

Sky Bet Championship - Huddersfield Town (1) v Fulham (1) - Huddersfield Head Coach David Wagner.

David Wagner was disappointed as Huddersfield Town missed out on a fourth successive home Championship win but accepted Fulham deserved a share of the spoils.

As the head coach predicted pre-match, it was a clash of similar styles at the John Smith's Stadium, and the boss admitted it took time for his side to find their feet in a game which brought a tickets-issued crowd of 12,039 (477 away fans).

"In my 12 games so far, only Brentford and Fulham have played a similar style to us," said Wagner.

"Both times we have needed 45 minutes to find how to play against them.

"This was better than Brentford because we got a draw, and it was a game we could have won, although I am not unhappy.

"It was a tight game and as I said beforehand, two teams with the same style playing each other can look a little confusing.

"Often there are not many opportunities to create chances, and sometimes it is the longer ball that brings them.

"That can lead to a lot of one against one fighting situations, as we saw.

"From the technical side for me as manager, it was nice to watch, but maybe not so good for the spectators!

"Fulham are a good team, but I think we are too and we tried a to make it as uncomfortable as we could for them.

"They sometimes made it uncomfortable for us and in the end, the result was fair."

It weas a first league point at the third attempt for Fulham's former Watford boss Slavisa Jokanovic, who said: "We scored very fast (after 90 seconds) and if we had scored one more we would have won.

"We need a stronger mentality and a killer instinct for winning the game.

"We also need more training and there is work to do. We need to be more competitive."

Town Juniors' Professional Development League II clash with Sheffield United was postponed because of a frozen pitch at PPG Canalside.

The complex is due to host the Under 21s' Monday PDL II meeting with Crewe Alexandra (1.00).

Loan Round-Up

Jack Grimmer and Larnell Cole played the full 90 minutes as Shrewsbury Town slipped into the Sky Bet League One relegation zone after a 3-0 home defeat to Barnsley on Saturday.

Sam Winnall put the visitors ahead in the 15th minute and grabbed his second soon after with a 20-yard shot.

Andy Mangan missed the chance to get the Shrews back into the game when his penalty was kept out by Adam Davies, before Alfie Mawson scored to wrap up the win.

A division higher, Fernando Amorebeita played the full game as Middlesbrough were beaten 1-0 at Bristol City in the Championship.

Wes Burns headed an injury-time winner for the managerless Robins as Boro's run of nine consecutive clean sheets was ended. Their lead at the top was also cut to two points.

In the FA Trophy Second Round, Marek Rodák made his Welling United debut but the Wings went down to a 2-1 loss to Havant & Waterlooville.

Josh Hill put the hosts in front, but Welling leveled through Reece Harris. With 25 minutes left, the home side grabbed the winner when giant striker Shamir Mullins was left unmarked and his header squirmed under Rodák.

In Portugal's Primeira Liga, Kostas Mitroglou stepped off the bench to score as Benfica won 2-1 away to Estoril. Trailing to Leo Bonatini's 11th-minute strike, Mitroglou entered the fray for the start of the second half. He took just six minutes to make his mark when he levelled matters, before Pizzi hit the winner on 67. With leaders Sporting CP drawing at home to Tondela, the win for second-placed Benfica put them two points off the top.

Monaco and Wolfsburg in for Championship striker

Sky Sports understands that representatives of Fulham striker Moussa Dembele are discussing potential moves to both Wolfsburg and Monaco. The 19-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and is free to talk to clubs now regarding a move once that deal expires.

The former Paris St-Germain youngster has been targeted by several clubs over the course of the season. His pace, trickery and clear ability to find the back of the net are just some of the many qualities that he possesses. Although many Premier League clubs are hoping to sign him, it would appear that there is a serious chance that he may be playing abroad next season.

Recently appointed Fulham manager Slavisa Jokanovic recently said that he didn't want to lose any of his key players this January. Whilst that should be the case for this month, it looks as though it will be a completely different matter come this summer. Dembele's agent, Mamadi Fofano, told Sky Sports that whilst they won't discuss transfer speculation in public, sources suggest a move is definitely on the cards,

"We will not discuss Moussa's situation publicly out of respect for Fulham. Moussa is just focussed on finishing the season with Fulham."

He will certainly be needed to finish the season with Fulham and to start producing the goods needed to pull them away from the relegation zone. It is almost unthinkable that Fulham could drop into League One, but Jokanovic should at least have Dembele, in addition to some loan signings, to help them move away from the relegation places.

Spurs transfer news: Fulham get tough over Moussa Dembele

Cottagers will not let teenage Spurs target leave wiothout a fight - all the latest Tottenham transfer news and gossip

Clive Rose/Getty Images

Spurs have been sent a message of defiance by Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic after they were linked to striker Moussa Dembele, and the Evening Standard reports that the Cottagers are bracing themselves for a battle with their London neighbours over the French teenager.

Reports emerged last week suggesting Spurs wanted to sign the 19-year-old, and the Standard claims that they "understand that Tottenham have been in discussions with Dembele's representatives for some time".

Manchester United, Monaco, Feyenoord, Borussia Dortmund and Napoli are also said to be "interested" in the teenage frontman, but Jokanovic was in belligerent mood when asked about the future of Dembele. "This is all speculation and I want them to stay," he told reporters, also declaring his intention to hang on to club captain Ross McCormack. "We intend to use the loan market and we are looking to bring players in."

Meanwhile The Sun claims that there is a three-way chase for Andros Townsend with Newcastle battling West Brom and Watford for the hand of the 24-year-old England winger. The paper says Townsend is "set to leave Spurs this month" and believes the Magpies are favourites to sign the wantaway wide man, who hasn't played for Mauricio Pochettino's side since falling out with fitness coach Nathan Gardiner in November.

Moussa Dembele in contract talks with Wolfsburg and Monaco - as Fulham boss looks set to be overruled

Teenage hotshot could be headed to the continent as Whites manager looks likely to lose a top player in the making

Talks: Moussa Dembele

Slavisa Jokanovic looks set to be overruled by his bosses as Fulham striker Moussa Dembele's representative is in talks with Wolfsburg and Monaco about a pre-contract agreement, according to reports.

The Whites boss was adamant he wasn't in the selling business and that included the best of his young stars, but the 19-year-old's agent is understood to be in talks with both the Ligue 1 and Bundesliga club.

Manchester United, Tottenham and Everton have also show interest in a teenager come of age this season with 11 goals in 28 appearances.

Dembele's contract expires in the summer and as a result he is free to talk with other clubs, with Fulham so far having failed to convince him is future is at Craven Cottage.

His agent Mamadi Fofana said: "We will not discuss Moussa's situation publicly out of respect for Fulham."

Kit Symons in frame for Orient job

HITC Sport understands that the former Fulham boss is in the frame for the Leyton Orient job.

Former Fulham boss Kit Symons is a contender for the vacant manager's job at League Two Leyton Orient, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

Orient are searching for a new manager after Ian Hendon was axed following last weekend's home defeat to Exeter City.

Orient made a flying start to this season in League Two winning their first five games, but they have only picked up four victories in their last 21 games.

The Brisbane Road outfit sit in 11th spot in the table, just two points off the play-off places and the club have decided to act as they look to promotion hopes back on track.

A number of names have been linked with the Orient vacancy, but Welshman Symons is understood to figure highly on their wanted list.

Symons has been out of work since November after leaving Fulham following just over a year in charge at Craven Cottage.

The 44-year-old took charge at Fulham in October 2014 following the departure of Felix Magath and he helped the club secure survival in the Championship last season.

Burn: Signs Of Progress

Dan Burn was happy to collect a point at Huddersfield Town on Saturday and believes the philosophies implemented by new Head Coach Slaviša Jokanović are beginning to rub off on the side.

"We're happy to take the point," Burn told the Club's official website. "It's a shame we couldn't pick up the win and build on the early goal. But we picked up a point at the end of the day and we'll take that.

"I think if you look back at the last couple of games you'll see we're trying to press a lot higher up the pitch. When the opposition wins the ball we're already in their half looking to press and make things uncomfortable for them.

"We obviously have great footballers in our side but defensively we have struggled. He [Jokanović] has tried to say that the more time we can get our influential guys on the ball, the better it is for us."

Ross McCormack made the most of a defensive error to open the scoring with less than two minutes on the clock. Having scored 17 goals in all competitions this year, Burn was quick to point out it is not just goals that McCormack brings to the side.

"I think it is massive for us to keep him," Burn reflected. "The stuff Ross does for us is crucial. He scores lots of goals which is really important and what gets noticed.

"But it is the stuff he does that you don't see if even more important. He links up play and pushes us forward. Even the work off the ball is crucial.

"I'm not surprised he is linked with other clubs and I think it's important that we keep hold of him."

Fulham insists Emerson Hyndman won't be sold in winter transfer window

Emerson Hyndman's contract with Fulham continues to move closer and closer to its expiration date, but the club doesn't appear ready to led him leave early.

Fulham manager Slavisa Jokanovic insists that neither Hyndman nor Moussa Dembele will leave the club in January. The manager's declaration comes despite the fact that the two midfielders can leave on free transfers this summer. Should the two leave the club at the end of their current deals, Fulham would be entitled to compensation payments.

According to Jokanovic, winning games remains the club's primary target. The club currently sits in 19th place in the English Championship, just four points out of the relegation zone.

"I can make money or not for the club," Jovanovic said. "My part of the business is to be successful on the pitch."To be successful we need to stop any moves. Fans dont want the club to have £10 million, £20 million or whatever they want their team to win games. To try to do this I need the staff to do this and the business must understand this."

The latest decision doesn't represent the first time Fulham has declined an option to sell the 19-year-old American. The Championship club reportedly turned down offers from Spanish club Elche, Dutch side Cambuur and several other clubs before the conclusion of the summer transfer window.

Hyndman has made eight appearances for Fulham this season.

Fulham boss says he would play like Barcelona – sadly, adds Slavisa Jokanovic – that's not an option

Whites coach unsure of exactly what's need to get a first win and is ready to try out different things

Tinkerman: Slavisa Jokanovic

Fulham's boss admits he will tinker with team and formation until he comes up with a winning formula.

Fans have been baying for the new man in charge to make good use of Whites midfield and play 3-5-2 – and Jokanovic is ready to oblige as early as next Saturday against Hull.

On Saturday, at Huddersfield, the gaffer dropped Moussa Dembele, not because the teenage talent is in imminent danger of leaving, he claimed, but because three games in a week had weakened the middle third.

He explained: "We played a third game in a week. I expected we might be a bit weak in midfield, and I put one more guy there.

"3-5-2? Why not? It's one of the options.

"My style has changed many times. I like to play like Barcelona, but that is not an option.

"One of these different options is to play 3-5-2. Any system depends on what you're doing in the next game, and who is available to you."

MIddlesbrough remain interested in Fulham striker Ross McCormack after bid rejected

Ross McCormack has scored 17 goals in all competitions so far this season

Middlesbrough remain interested in Fulham striker Ross McCormack despite having a bid in excess of £6m rejected last week, Sky sources understand.

The 29-year-old Scotland international has been in superb form this season despite the Whites struggling in the Sky Bet Championship, scoring 17 goals in 31 appearances.

New Fulham manager Slavisa Jokanovic has vowed to do all he can to keep hold of McCormack and his other star striker Moussa Dembele, who has attracted interest from Tottenham, Everton, Manchester United, Monaco and Wolfsburg.

But McCormack, who signed from Leeds for £12m after Fulham were relegated from the Premier League in 2014, has also attracted the attention of other Championship clubs.

And he was the subject of a rejected £10m bid from Sheffield Wednesday before the start of the season.

McCormack has scored 36 goals in 82 appearances for Fulham and has 11 caps and two goals for Scotland.

Fulham After Hammer in Loan Deal!

With the transfer embargo in place, Fulham have their hands tied behind their back when it comes to transfer dealings during this transfer window.

Whilst there are many clubs who wouldn`t think twice about taking advantage of our predicament and signing the likes of Moussa Dembele and Ross McCormack.

But, if Fulham are to turn this season around and finish in a respectable position and not be looking over our shoulders with a smile on our faces because we just escaped the drop, it is essential that the board respect the wishes of Slavisa Jokanovic and keep our star strikers at the club.

But, returning to bringing some additional talent in, Fulham if I read the situation right, can still operate within the confines of the loan system.

To that effect, The Sun is suggesting that Fulham are interested in taking on loan the hugely exciting seventeen year-old West Ham United player, Reece Oxford.

Oxford, who made his first Premier League start in West Ham`s opening fixture of the Premier League season, at Arsenal, a fixture the Hammers won, is able to play as a defender or as a defensive midfielder and would, I believe, go straight into our first team.

Let`s hope a deal can be sealed.

Fulham eyeing move for West Bromwich Albion man to rejuvenate poor season

Fulham are tracking West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard, according to The Times (via Birmingham Mail).

The Championship strugglers are currently under a transfer embargo and will only be able to sign the goalkeeper on a loan deal.

The Danish shot stopper joined West Brom from Manchester United for a free transfer in the summer of 2015, but has found first-team opportunities very limited.

The 31-year-old has struggled for playing time with the Baggies, with Tony Pulis preferring to use Ben Foster and Boaz Myhill throughout his time at the club.

Lindegaard has only featured once this season in their 3-0 defeat to Norwich City in the League Cup, and if he joined Slavisa Jokanovic's team, he would provide competition for Fulham's first choice goalkeeper Andy Lonergan.

Lonergan rescued a point for the West London side at the weekend after pulling off a double save, in the final moments of their 1-1 draw with Huddersfield Town at the John Smiths Stadium.

Fulham currently occupy 19th place in the Sky Bet Championship, just four points away from the bottom three.

If Lindegaard makes the temporary switch to Craven Cottage, he would be expected to feature far more often than he has in the past few years.
