Dean Coney was sensational when he first burst on the scene as an 18 year old.Formed a brilliant partnership with Gordon Davies, a bit similar to the McCormack&Dembele one.
Unfortunately the goals dried up the following season and a lot of fans unfairly blame that for blowing promotion.
Leroy Rosenior another good teen, Justin Skinner ,Duncan Jupp etc

keeper then must be:
Ricardo Batista (Goalkeeper) - 18 years 306 days, v. Lincoln, League Cup, 21 Sept 2005

Great (ie terrible) game - we won 4 -3 with McBride scoring in the 120th minute of extra time.  We were a Prem side and they were league one (or two?)

Good call.

That rounds out my team then;

Woodrow Dembele

Williams Davis Kasami Roberts

Briggs Smalling Parker Jupp

Batista

The real best 11 would no doubt need to include the Maestro, but he was well before my time.

Barrett487

I think Paul Brooker was 19 on his debut. Wouldn't make a 'best' X1 tho

Why are people considering Briggs?

He was a failure, he never made it with us or any of the many teams he went on loan at.

He's now playing at Colchester and heading for relegation, that might be some kind of success but not worthy of a mention in any kind of "Best of" list!

If all of those were teenagers that's a hell of a team! One I'd have loved to have seen play in today's PL.

How old was Stannard and Tony Mahoney?

In my time all of the boys from Supermacs short time were good players particularly Parker and Coney (did he not have a bad injury)?

Not sure how old some were on their debuts but Gale, Sean Davies, Smalling, Robert  Wilson, and many more who I can't think of.

Also think handled differently the group of youngsters we had / have could have been pretty special. Maybe if we were a club on the up instead of the way down the atmosphere around the club including from us would have been more positive and everyone would have shown a bit more patience. Although I think that's a sign of the times.

When Briggs was 19 he was a decent player for his age. He just never grew into the promise that he once showed. However, if I had to put a team of teenagers out, then I would be quite happy to give Briggs at 19 a place.

Addendum to my post above re the game v League 2 side Lincoln.  The final score was 5 -4, not 4 - 3 and our team was:
Batista, Rosenior, Goma, Christanval, Green, Elrich, Rehman (Volz 81), Leacock (Radzinski 63), Timlin, Helguson, John (McBride 73).
Subs Not Used: Warner, Milsom.
