Fulham defender Jazz Richards on the brink of Cardiff City switch following Tomas Kalas signing

Slavisa Jokanovic is ready to offload the Wales international this summer after strengthening his defence with a Chelsea defender

Jazz Richards in Fulham actionCardiff-bound: Jazz Richards in Fulham action

Fulham defender Jazz Richards is close to swapping Craven Cottage for Cardiff City Stadium.

The Welsh international joined Fulham last Summer from Swansea City after a six-month loan spell at Craven Cottage the season before.

Richards also played a key role in assisting Wales' European Championship qualification, and made an appearance for his country against their 2-1 win against Slovakia.

The 25-year-old made 26 appearances for Fulham last season before falling down the pecking order under new manager Slavisa Jokanovic.

And with the Whites bringing in Chelsea's Tomas Kalas on loan and Cardiff manager Paul Trollope an admirer of Richards, the Welsh side made a quick move.

Speaking to Wales Online, Trollope said: "We are linked with him (Richards) very heavily.

"We are hoping that's going to be completed in the very near future and we think he'll be a great addition to the squad."

A medical was understood to be taking place on Monday afternoon.

Welsh international having medical at Cardiff City

Fulham's Jazz Richards is set to leave the club and is currently undergoing a medical at Cardiff City according to a report from HITC Sport.

The 25-year-old defender, who can also play in midfield, only signed for the Cottagers last summer and had initially been a regular under Kit Symons. However he fell foul of the new regime after Slavisa Jokanovic was appointed as their new head coach and he soon became out of favour.

Now this summer he has been allowed to leave and looks set to return to his native Wales after a fee and personal terms was agreed with Cardiff City and the deal should be complete after he passed the medical he is set to undergo today.

The move was made possible by Cardiff's new head coach Paul Trollope. He has been a big fan of Richards for a while now and when it became clear that he was going to leave Fulham, he jumped at the chance to bring him to Wales' capital city.

Richards is also coming off the back of being part of the Wales squad for Euro 2016. While he only made one appearance there as a substitute in the opening game win over Slovakia, he'll hope to take that winning feeling with him to Cardiff.

Symons expects Hyndman to excel BOURNEMOUTH

Former Fulham boss Kit Symons believes that new Bournemouth midfielder Emerson Hyndman is well suited to the Premier League. Symons was in charge of the Cottagers academy and then first team during the time Hyndman started to make his way through the ranks with the Championship club.

The American-born midfielder played under Symons for the under-18 and under-21 teams before making his senior debut in August 2014, just a month prior to Symons' promotion.

The 20-year-old rarely featured under the 45-year-old but Symons insists he always felt the midfielder was of Premier League quality. Symons said: "When I took over, Fulham were rock-bottom so it was a real scrap that season.

Emerson wasn't really suited to Championship football and that scrap. That's not his game. "He is an excellent footballer with a really good football brain and a great appreciation of time and space on the pitch. He is an excellent technician who sees angles and passes. "I always thought he was more suited to Premier League football than the Championship because of the style of play. "In my opinion, he will suit Eddie Howe and the Bournemouth style very well.

I think people within the game appreciate what an intelligent and good footballer he is, so I'm not at all surprised he has moved to a Premier League club. "If you could pick a team for him to go to, you would say Bournemouth would be the ideal one. I think it's a good move for him and I think he will be a good player for the club." Hyndman recently joined the Cherries on a four-year deal following the expiration of his contract at Craven Cottage.

Blimey. This one has been 'on the brink' so long it's a good job he doesn't suffer from vertigo or he'd have plunged into the chasm some time a go...which is a bit like going to Wales, I suppose.

A Cottagers Contemplation - Is Hal Robson-Kanu missing piece of the jigsaw puzzle?

This summer's European Championships has seen Hal Robson-Kanu turn from Championship flop to Welsh hero. So how can he be the perfect fit for Fulham?

Robson-Kanu provides a factor of versatility, which is a valuable asset to a squad over a long season in the Championship. The 27 year old is able to play in any of the forward positions. He has started 18 times out wide, playing 9 times on each side respectively for his club. Reading also played him as a striker 6 times throughout the league season.

Fulham are in need of another striker and although the club has seen the signing of Floyd Ayite to play on the left wing, the club still lacks depth in the wide areas. Hal Robson-Kanu was by no means prolific last Championship season, netting only 3 times and making 6 assists. However Robson-Kanu created one of the most memorable moments of this summer's Euros scoring Wales' second after a superbly executed Cruyff turn past two Belgian players during their 3-1 win of Belgium in the Quarter Final. Showing that he possesses the skill and ability to succeed after a staggered domestic season.

So why did the Welshman perform for the national side when he struggled with Reading? Some joked in saying he was merely 'playing for a contract', but what if there's more to it than that? Maybe it's a style of play that the Welshman prefers or maybe a position change?

Reports suggest that he is on the verge of signing for Hull City after they achieved promotion last season. Whilst he has shown glimpses of brilliance over the summer is he ready to make the jump to the Premier League?

The Wales international was born and raised in London, could a possible move back to the capital tempt him over advances from Premier League teams?

Would you like to see Hal Robson-Kanu at Fulham?

Luca de la Torre scores game winner for Fulham against Tottenham

Fulham downed Tottenham, 1-0, in a closed-door friendly on Saturday. United States youth international Luca de la Torre scored the game winning goal.

De la Torre is an 18-year old midfielder who has been a regular fixture in the national team program. Last season, he made 18 appearances in the Under-21 Premier League, scoring two goals and assisting on three. His current contract, signed prior to last season, runs through the summer of 2018.

The San Diego, California native joined Fulham in 2014 after playing in the Development Academy with the San Diego Surf. He was referred to as "a game changer" with "talented that do not always come along" by Fulham U-18 coach Gavin Taylor.

De la Torre is an intriguing prospect and yet another American player who appears to be nearing a breakthrough in Europe. Whether it comes this season remains to be seen, but game winning goals against Premier League clubs (even in friendlies) will always turn a few heads.

Fulham close in on new number one from Championship rival

Get West London reports that Fulham will sign David Button from Brentford. The goalkeeper is also expected to become the number one goalkeeper at Craven Cottage. Marcus Bettinelli however will challenge him for the number one jersey with the Cottagers.

Since joining the Bees in 2013, the 27-year-old has played over 130 times for the club. He was part of the team to reach promotion out of League One in 2014, when they finished as runners up. Slavisa Jokanovic lost keeprs Andy Lonergan and Joe Lewis from his squad this summer.

He has a year remaining on his current contract, so Jokanovic should sign the player up for a relatively cheaper price. With Daniel Bentley signing from Southend United earlier this summer, Dean Smith has a new number one, meaning Button can move on. The club had tried to negotiate a new deal with the shotstopper, but those talks broke down.

Button will become the fifth signing of the summer at Craven Cottage as Jokanovic aims to improve upon last seasons poor showing in the Championship. Floyd Ayite, Sone Aluko, Denis Odoi and Tomas Kalas have all joined the club over the course of the last few months. Michael Madl also made his loan deal permanent.

Chris Coleman offered freedom of home city, Swansea

Wales manager Chris Coleman is to be offered the freedom of his home city, Swansea.
Coleman, 46, led Wales to their first major tournament in 58 years when they reached Euro 2016 in France.
During the competition, they made it to their first semi-final before losing to eventual winners Portugal.
Coleman played for Swansea City, Crystal Palace, Blackburn and Fulham but his career was cut short following a car accident.

He later had spells as manager of Fulham, Coventry and Spanish side Real Sociedad.
He was appointed Wales manager following the death of his good friend Gary Speed in 2012 and after a difficult start, turned things around on the pitch to reach Euro 2016.
Swansea lord mayor, councillor David Hopkins, said: "Freedom of the city is the highest honour the people of Swansea can confer on one of its own.
"And after the amazing, incredible exploits of the last month in France, I think I can safely say everyone in Swansea believes it's richly-deserved."

Norwich City big favourites for Ross McCormack Signature

Norwich City big favourites for Ross McCormack Signature
What's being said in the forum now? Click to join the Vital Norwich forum!
Betting companies Sky Bet and BetVictor have made Norwich huge favourites to be the club that Fulham striker Ross McCormack will play for when the summer transfer window shuts.

McCormack, 29, has been linked with Norwich, along with Newcastle, Sheffield Wednesday and Aston Villa in the last few weeks, but those clubs had apparently been warned off, with his current club stating that no one could get him for any less than a very hefty fee of £15 million, causing many to write us off in the race for him.

Now though, odds for McCormack's club when the window slams shut in August have swayed massively in City's favour, with it now being as short as 1/2 for him to sign for us!

Although I'm not sure McCormack would be worth £15 million, taking the risk could definitely pay off. After all, he was joint-second top goal scorer in the second tier last year, scoring a highly impressive 21 goals.

Fulham - Central Defender Speculation

What's being said in the forum now? Click to join the Vital Fulham forum!
Nestling in that handy little transfer gossip column found in a leading tabloid publication are two pieces of speculation pertinent to Fulham.

The first piece of speculation to feature in the Sun relates to the Ipswich Town centre-back Tommy Smith

It`s heavily hinted that Fulham are interested in obtaining the services of the 28-year-old New Zealand international, who could be available for as little as £750,000.

However Fulham, so the tabloid informs us, do have rivals for the signature of the player with Blackburn Rovers and Reading said to be interested as well.

The second piece of speculation carried by our reference source, infers that somebody who is looking to exit Craven Cottage may not be making a move to Spanish football.

According to our referenced source Fernando Amorebieta is wanted by Newcastle United.

The thirty-one year old Venezuelan could be available for as little as £350,000 as Rafa Benitez, at Newcastle, looks set to do battle with Sporting Gijon for the defenders services.

DONE DEAL: OLDHAM SNAP UP FULHAM DEFENDER ON LOAN

Oldham Athletic have officially announced the loan signing of young Fulham defender Cameron Burgess until the end of the 2016/17 season.

The Australia under-23 international teams up with Steve Robinson as the summer rebuild at Boundary Park continues. After losing their manager and the vast majority of their senior players early this summer, Oldham are now looking to recruit to fill a number of places in the squad.

The towering centre back has played 4 senior games for Fulham since graduating from their academy and has had loan spells at Ross County and Cheltenham – helping the latter win the National League title last season.

The Scottish-born defender started his youth career with Celtic and played for Scotland under 19's, before switching international allegiances to Australia at under 21 and under 23 level.

The 20-year old is a left-footed centre half who can also play at left back and becomes Oldham's 10th summer signing as they prepare for next campaign with a completely different squad.

Fulham Linked With Move for Smith

Fulham are being linked with a move for Town centre-half Tommy Smith, while Blackburn and Reading are also said to be showing interest in the 26-year-old.

TweetFacebookLinkedInEmailShareThis
According to The Sun, the Cottagers are keen on Smith and are ready to pay £750,000 for the New Zealand international.

Smith has been with the Blues since joining the academy a decade ago and has been a regular for most of Mick McCarthy's time in charge at Portman Road.

However, with Adam Webster having signed from Portsmouth earlier in the summer, competition for Town's central defensive roles has increased, Christophe Berra having been preferred for Smith's preferred left-sided position in the past.

Smith is contracted to the Blues until next summer, Town having exercised an option for a further year on the deal he signed in 2013 at the end of last season.
