Gone from Birmingham, madness

Hmmm total failure only 7th outside the top 6 on goal difference.  Clearly not up to it.

Is it me or are football owners' expectations increasingly unreasonable?

Roberty

They have sacked both him, his assistant and the coaches - so you can presume the owners have been negotiating with a package deal manager to replace him for some time
It could be better but it's real life and not a fantasy

Buffalo76

Bet they bring in a foreign replacement.

westcliff white

Interesting statement from them - an an official statement, the club say "an immediate replacement" will be found to give the new manager time to prepare for the upcoming January transfer window and that funds will be available".

Are they going to go fro broke and risk the sanctions
Every day is a Fulham day

Can't understand this.  Unless there is something to come out that we don't know about this looks like another case of an owner with more money than sense. Crazy.  Maybe we should expect every team to change managers at the end of the season if they are not one of those that get promoted!!

HatterDon

Insane. This is the most competitive Birmingham side in several seasons. I hope they sign Magath and swirl down the drain.

Astonishing decision. They absolutely deserve for this to backfire badly.

Big name manager

well bit short, but maybe they will use large font when announcing him.

Samsara

I imagine he'll be snapped up by a club in the bottom half by season's end.

Allestree andy

1/6 Zola...12/1Big Sam

@jolslover

Rowett was doing a very good job, but I can understand some reasons why the owners may have sacked him for Zola...

Under Rowett they played a very counter attacking game, Choosing to sit back and absorb pressure for large spells of the game. Maybe the owners wanted a more 'Barcelona' style of play and Zola played a great brand of attractive football at Watford.

Another reason is that I assume the owners are planning to spend a lot this January, and they believe Zola can attract/sign better players than Rowett could.

So while it may come as a shock to many, I dont think it was done without reason.

On the face of it a mad decision and I hope the owners fall flat on their face.
However another set of rich Asian owners / investors made a similar decision (Leicester City & Nigel Pearson) and it did not work out too bad for them!

Time will tell.
