Fulham FC transfer news: Former West Ham striker Emmanuel Emenike wanted by Championship club

Fulham are considering a move for ex-West Ham striker Emmanuel Emenike, according to reports in Turkey.

The 29-year-old has been at Fenerbahce since 2013 but spent time on loan with the Hammers last year – although it was not a memorable stint in east London.

The forward failed to notch in any of his 13 Premier League appearances, with his only goals coming in a 5-1 win at Blackburn in the FA Cup.

He is currently out of favour at Fenerbahce, for whom he has started just seven league games all season.

Emenike's contract is up in June of next year and, with no extension planned, he is expected to be sold in the summer.

And according to Turkish media reports, Fulham are considering bringing Emenike back to London.

It has even been suggested that the Nigeria international is already in the capital as he steps up his pursuit of a new club.

Martin Still Hankers for Derby Return

After the strange incident, whereby having put pen-to-paper on a season long loan deal, Chris Martin was suddenly desperate to return to Derby County, it`s no surprise that such talk has erupted again.

Of course, knowing they were in the right, Fulham Football Club stood their ground when Martin wanted to return to his parent club, with the result that Martin has gone about his business in an acceptable manner.

However, lurking in the sports pages of The Sun, in a small article, is the insinuation that the Scottish international does still want to return to Derby County with their recently appointed manager, Gary Rowett, quoted in our aforementioned source as having remarked,

"He`s looking forward to being part of what we`re doing."

My understanding, but I may be wrong, was that the season-long loan deal gave Fulham the opportunity to exercise an option to buy the 28-year-old forward once the loan deal had been completed.

If that is the case then exercising that desire could well put the cat amongst the pigeons!

Air Products and ProCare develop tailored cryotherapy for Fulham FC

Air Products, in collaboration with ProCare, has developed a tailored PolarFit® Care cryotherapy vessel for Fulham FC Elite Sports Club to boost player recovery and performance.

The English Football League (EFL) Championship club, which has been trialling cryotherapy over the last three seasons, has received expert training to adopt PolarFit Care, the world's first and only fully customised Whole Body Cryotherapy system, developed by Air Products and sports scientists ProCare.

Fulham has already seen positive results including a reduction in player muscle soreness and reduced injury time as a result of its existing approach to cryotherapy. It expects to boulster these results still further by applying the individually tailored and bespoke approach afforded by PolarFit Care.

Cryotherapy unit

Chris Hansen, Head of Physiology at Fulham FC, explains, "We tailor most aspects of the players' schedules, from training to therapy and even diet, based on things like body type, age and position in the team."

"Any treatment that can be intelligently applied based on the needs of an individual player is bound to increase its effectiveness. It only makes sense that a more tailored approach will improve the already positive results of cryotherapy treatment. We've been really impressed by the PolarFit Care offer and are excited by the potential to boost recovery and performance to the next level," Hansen added.

The software, developed by Air Products and ProCare, pulls data from nearly 1,000 peer-reviewed papers on cryotherapy, cold water emersion and local cold therapy to deliver tailored programmes to improve the recovery time, injury prevention, metabolism and even sleep of each individual player.

Martin O'Connell at Air Products says, "Tailored cryotherapy should give Fulham an edge next season and in elite sport, an edge is everything."

"Whole Body Cryotherapy is gaining in popularity as a treatment but most clubs and athletes take a 'one size fits all' approach to its use."

"We know that individuals respond differently to Whole Body Cryotherapy depending on their physical and genetic make-up, so PolarFit Care represents a huge opportunity for forward looking clubs," O'Connell continued.

The PolarFit Care treatment package is new to the UK market, following extensive testing in the Netherlands, and emphasises the benefits of a safe and tailored approach. All PolarFit Care cryotherapy vessels use indirect whole body cryotherapy. This is the safest kind of cryotherapy on the market, ensuring the nitrogen (N2) used to cool the chamber never comes into contact with the athlete's body.

Will Burton Albion's international stars be ready to feature against Huddersfield Town?

Burton Albion will wait to see how their international call-ups are feeling ahead of Saturday's return to Championship action at Huddersfield Town.

The Brewers had four players away with their countries during the international break, with Jackson Irvine earning his first and second starts for Australia in their World Cup qualifying double header - scoring in the 2-0 win over the United Arab Emirates - Cauley Woodrow netting for England under-21s in the 4-0 win over Denmark, and Lasse Vigen Christensen captaining the Danish under-21s in defeats to Spain and Woodrow's Young Lions.

Tom Flanagan, meanwhile, was an unused substitute for Northern Ireland. Irvine, Woodrow and Christensen featured in five matches between them across a five-day period, and Nigel Clough says it will be a case of waiting to assess what state they are in ahead of the Huddersfield clash.

That is primarily the case for leading scorer Irvine, who will have clocked up more than 20,000 air miles - as well as 160 minutes on the pitch - during his stint with the Socceroos.

"He started both games and got himself a goal, which will once again be good for him," said the Brewers boss of Irvine.

"We'll see how he is. Tom Flanagan is back, you don't get to see the others until Thursday or Friday, so we will have to catch up with them then and see how they are feeling.

"Obviously with Jackson, it'll be very much on how he feels after the long flight. I think Jackson is back in the UK on Wednesday night, because of the time difference.

Cauley Woodrow was on target against Lasse Vigen Christensen's Denmark under-21s

"He generally then sleeps for about 14 hours, or as long as he can after that! And then he does a little bit on Thursday and then gets ready for training on Friday.

"We'll just see how he feels. Sometimes he feels better than others getting off the plane, everyone who travels will know that.

"We leave it totally down to him. But we are mindful as well that we have Newcastle United away on Wednesday and then Aston Villa here (a week on Saturday).

"So there are two very important games coming up later in the week."

The Brewers also have some injury doubts among the players who did not travel during the break.

John Brayford, Kyle McFadzean and Luke Murphy were all carrying knocks after the Brentford game, and Clough says those issues are still there ahead of Saturday's game at the John Smith's Stadium.

"We've just got a few that were hanging over from before the break," he added on the topic of injuries.

"Kyle McFadzean has been carrying a knock, Luke Murphy has been carrying a knock.

"So even with this 10-day break we've had so far, there are still two or three. John Brayford's knee is still very sore.

"There are still two or three of them who are a doubt for Saturday."

Ryan Sessegnon Exclusive: Ex-Fulham ace reveals how club could benefit from big sale

WONDERKID Ryan Sessegnon has been urged to snub Premier League interest and stick with Fulham.

A host of Premier League clubs are interested in Fulham starlet Ryan Sessegnon

The 16-year-old is rated as one of Europe's hottest prospects after starring for Slavisa Jokanovic's side this term.

A host of clubs including Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal are reportedly keen.

Ex-Fulham forward Leroy Rosenior believes Sessegnon would be best served to stay at Craven Cottage but thinks a sale could benefit the club.

Rosenior told Starsport: "I think he's the best left-back talent in England, there's no doubt about that.

"All things being equal, he should stay at Fulham and develop but opportunities come and if Fulham get an offer which is difficult to refuse and it means that he could progress then as long as it's amicable and it's done in the right way then he will move on.

"I'm sorry Fulham fans but this is life.

"Also, sometimes it allows your football club to move on.

"When I was a youngster the players would come through and have that ambition to go and better themselves.

Ryan Sessegnon has starred for Fulham this term

"It doesn't mean that you think any less of your football club but that's the way it is.

"Believe me there are lots of Premier League clubs interested in Ryan Sessegnon and that's a fact.

"I think sometimes when you sell a young player and you have a manager like Jokanovic - whose recruitment has been incredible - then you have to trust their judgement.

"Sometimes you get a left-back and even if he's wonderful player, how much can a left-back affect a game?

Leroy Rosenior believes Ryan Sessegnon should stick with Fulham

"Maybe if you get an experienced left-back for two years that could do a job and get a winger and centre-forward then it makes your squad more rounded.

"You could lose Ryan and make your squad better."

Fulham have a host of exciting talents coming through their academy including Dennis Adeniran and Tayo Edun, and Rosenior believes the club is the perfect 'stomping ground' for young players.

He added: "It's an amazing environment to learn your trade. When a team in the top echelons come knocking it's difficult for players to say no.

"[Sessegnon's] a special talent but Fulham will always take credit for that."

Midfielder given big valuation

Fulham have a plan in place to keep Tom Cairney in the summer and that is to make him too expensive for anyone to buy.

The Cottagers are warning off interested parties by slapping a £20m price tag on the former Leeds United midfielder, who joined the club from Blackburn in 2015.
The 26-year-old has netted nine times for the club this season in 41 appearances and won his first full Scotland cap last week in the draw with Canada.
There is interest from the Premier League but Fulham are determined to keep hold and have slapped a big price tag on the player.

Championship promotion run-in: Contenders assessed as race for the Premier League hots-up
As many as nine teams are still in with a realistic shout of earning the prized ticket to the promised land

Who will be smiling at the end of the season? (Photo: Getty Images/PA Images/The Chronicle)

With eight games remaining in the Championship season - the promotion race is as exciting as ever with around £150million potentially on offer for the lucky few who make it to the Premier League.

As many as nine teams are still in with a realistic shout of earning the prized ticket to the promised land as the battle to finish in the top two and the playoff spots hots up.

Newcastle are an odds-on bet to claim the title and secure an immediate return to the top flight, with Brighton holding the cards in second spot.

Huddersfield are hot on the Seagulls' heels, however, and they are joined in the top six by Leeds, Reading and Sheffield Wednesday.

Fulham, Norwich and Preston are the chasing pack - and we asked a reporter from each of the contesting teams for their view on their club's season so far, and what they expect from the remainder of the campaign...

Newcastle United - Lee Ryder (Newcastle Chronicle)
Current league position: 1

Points: 78

Key player: Dwight Gayle

Run-in: Wigan (H), Burton (H), Sheffield Wednesday (A), Leeds (H), Ipswich (A), Preston (H), Cardiff (A), Barnsley (H)

Promotion odds: 1/50

What mark out of 10 would you give Newcastle's season so far and why?

8/10.

There was a fair degree of anxiety at Newcastle after relegation and losing the first two games simply added to that.

But game by game, Rafa Benitez has turned things around and changed the mood.

Every team seems to raise their game against Newcastle and they have been under great pressure in most fixtures, especially at St James' Park as teams look for a memorable result.

Newcastle have overcome some serious tests in recent weeks and beat Huddersfield and Brighton away.

With eight games left they hit the final straight looking like a team that are hard to beat while their rivals are struggling to cope with the pressure.

How have fans seen the season so far?

I think the fans don't need to be reminded that the season will be deemed as a failure if promotion isn't achieved.

Sinking into the play-offs is not an option in their eyes.

They now want to see the team promoted then Rafa Benitez backed with a solid kitty this summer.

How do you see Newcastle's run-in and what's your prediction for where they will finish?

I think that Newcastle will win the title.

They have five home games and three winnable away matches. As they close in on the 90-point mark I reckon they will keep their nerve at the right time and probably smash the 100-point barrier.

Brighton and Hove Albion - Andy Naylor (The Argus)
Current league position: 2

Points: 77

Key player: Anthony Knockaert

Run-in: Blackburn (H), Birmingham (H), QPR (A), Wolves (A), Wigan (H), Norwich (A), Bristol City (H), Aston Villa (A)

Promotion odds: 1/12

What mark out of 10 would you give Brighton's season so far and why?

9/10.

The question was how would they react to missing out so narrowly last season? The answer has been emphatic.

The squad is stronger and they have been hard to beat again, especially at home.

Last season's experience should help them over the line.

How have fans seen the season so far?

Fans would have grabbed the position Brighton find themselves in with both hands.

Especially after the first of only two league defeats at the Amex by Brentford at the beginning of September, which left them 13.

There is not much for them to grumble about. Owner-chairman Tony Bloom, a lifelong fan, has pumped in around £250 million.

Chief executive Paul Barber has high-ranking experience with the FA and Spurs.

The infrastructure is in place for the Premier League. It is now a case of making that final step after three top six finishes in the last four years.

How do you see Brighton's run-in and what's your prediction for where they will finish?

The run-in looks easy enough on paper, especially at the Amex where they are so strong, but nothing is straightforward in the Championship.

They lost 3-0 at Nottingham Forest recently and the away form, impressive for the most part, has deteriorated lately.

All the teams they have left to play, with the exception of Norwich, are halfway or below.

Brighton supporters are not bothered about the title. Second would do nicely. That is where I expect them to finish, just behind Newcastle.

Huddersfield Town - Rory Benson (Huddersfield Examiner)
Current league position: 3

Points: 71 (with a game in hand)

Key player: Aaron Mooy

Run-in: Burton (H), Norwich (H), Nottingham Forest (A), Preston (H), Derby (A), Fulham (H), Wolves (A), Birmingham (A), Cardiff (H)

Promotion odds: 11/8

What mark out of 10 would you give Huddersfield's season so far and why?

9/10.

Huddersfield Town have enjoyed one of the best seasons in their recent history, breaking records which have stood for years on end.

A decade-long wait for an opening day victory was followed by a first win over Newcastle United since 1963 and the Terriers continued to impress until November.

ive losses in seven matches ahead of the festive period brought Town back down to Earth, but just as their Championship rivals thought they had run out of steam, David Wagner's side were back to their brilliant best.

Town have lost just three of their last 19 league matches, forcing both Newcastle United and Brighton to regard the West Yorkshire side as serious automatic promotion contenders.

Add to that an FA Cup run which was only halted by Manchester City - via a replay - in the fifth round, and it's been an exceptional season for one of last year's relegation candidates.

How have fans seen the season so far?

Huddersfield Town fans have a great relationship with owner Dean Hoyle.

The Huddersfield-born chairman is a lifelong Town fan and has given his all for the club since taking over as majority shareholder in 2009.

Hoyle appointed Stuart Webber as head of football operations in 2015 and the pair were instrumental in bringing head coach David Wagner to the club.

The introduction of Wagner and his gegenpressing style of football has brought on the pitch performances up to the same level as the work done off the pitch, with the ex-Borussia Dortmund man also being backed by the chairman in the transfer market.

The recruitment of the head coach - along with the playing staff - has been second to none. It's a great time to be a Town fan.

How do you see Huddersfield's run-in and what's your prediction for where they will finish?

It's hard to predict where Huddersfield will finish as it's down to their promotion rivals as much as it is the Terriers

Town are the fittest team in the league and - although there was a minor blip at Bristol City last time out - I expect Town to keep churning out performances and results to the bitter end.

Newcastle have the quality in the squad to get the job done - as do Brighton - but I see the Seagulls as the team for Town to catch.

All eyes will be on the top two in Huddersfield, with a play-off spot all but secure.

Town lost to Cardiff City, Preston North End and Fulham earlier in the season and face them in the run-in, but all three have to visit the John Smith's Stadium and I expect Wagner's men to do the job at home.

I expect Huddersfield to finish third this season - with Brighton and Newcastle just clinging on to the automatic promotion spots - but I think it will go down to the last day.

Leeds United - Adam Pope (BBC Radio Leeds)
Current league position: 4

Points: 69

Key player: Chris Wood

Run-in: Reading (A), Brentford (A), Preston (H), Newcastle (A), Wolves (H), Burton (A), Norwich (H), Wigan (A)

Promotion odds: 3/1

What mark out of 10 would you give Leeds' season so far and why?

8.5/10.

Which is incredible considering that last summer I reckoned finishing 12th would be successful campaign this season.

Head coach Garry Monk has done an outstanding job with a relatively small budget.

He has genuinely improved players and that includes a seasoned campaigner like former England goalkeeper Rob Green, top scorer Chris Wood and developed young talent like 18-year-old midfielder Ronaldo Vieira.

There have been some astute loan signings too – notably the centre back pairing of Pontus Jansson from Torino and Swansea City's Kyle Bartley.

In his understated way, Monk has created a unity, winning mentality and a robustness which make United difficult to beat even when playing poorly.

The recent victory over Brighton and the win against Derby at Elland Road are amongst the stand out performances in a season which saw him allegedly under pressure from the now joint owner Massimo Cellino in the opening weeks.

Monk's ability to focus on what he can control has reaped dividends and prevented him from being distracted by the circus which often travels with Leeds off the pitch.

Cellino has kept a lower profile than usual this season and has sold half his share to businessman Andrea Radrizzani who appears content to support and allow Monk to continue unfettered. That policy has worked.

How have fans seen the season so far?

The supporters are delighted with the progress on the pitch but have reservations about another play off campaign. History has not been kind to United when you think they have lost three play off finals in 1987, 2006 and 2008.

However, the bond between the fans and the players is as strong as I have seen it in the 11 years I have been covering the club.

They have a cult hero in Jansson but the spirit is typified all over the park and defender Gaetano Berardi is the epitome of the never say die attitude.

It would be one of the great footballing stories if United were to reclaim a place in the top flight, but it is not being played out against the usual exhilaration you associate with a promotion charge because of the measured and controlled approach to the job by the head coach, staff and players.

How do you see Leeds' run-in and what's your prediction for where they will finish?

To have a realistic chance of catching the top two Leeds will need to win at least six of their final eight games.

The victory over Brighton illustrated they can beat anyone in the division so they need to repeat that performance at Reading and Newcastle along the way. Also, they have two relegation threatened sides to visit in Burton and Wigan.

The latter is the final game of the season which could have a lot riding on it for both teams.

Now nailed on for the play-offs at the least, I hope United can take the possibility of automatic promotion to the wire so that they hit the extended season with momentum.

Hoping for second but probably will have to settle for third or fourth.

Reading - Jonathan Low (Get Reading)
Current league position: 5

Points: 67

Key player: Yann Kermorgant

Run-in: Leeds (H), Blackburn (H), Norwich (A), Aston Villa (A), Rotherham (H), Nottingham Forest (A), Wigan (H), Burton (A)

Promotion odds: 11/2

What mark out of 10 would you give Reading's season so far and why?

8/10.

It's a season which has exceeded expectations but the real test starts now with eight games left.

There have been plenty of highs this season but the most impressive aspect has been Royals' ability to remain within the top six with pretty much everyone on the outside writing them off.

Jaap Stam has been the figurehead leading the promotion charge and must been given plenty of credit given this is his first season as a manager in English football.

How have fans seen the season so far?

Fans are loving every minute of it on the field. Premier League football is the long-term aim and although it still can be achieved, most fans would be happy with a top-six finish.

The lingering concern, however, remains the ownership issue. The current Thai owners are looking to sell the club and it appeared Chinese investors were going to take over the club, but that fell through.

Stam has called for clarity in the issue as he looks to plan for the future. There is only so much he will take before saying enough's enough.

How do you see Reading's run-in and what's your prediction for where they will finish?

On paper Reading have a pretty favourable run in, with their final three home games all against sides in the bottom half of the table. The away trips are all tricky but given the season Royals have had, they should not fear anyone.

I think it will be close but they will make the play-offs - just. So I'll go for sixth spot.

Sheffield Wednesday - Chris Holt (Sheffield Star)
Current league position: 6

Points: 62

Key player: Fernando Forestieri

Run-in: Barnsley (A), Rotherham (A), Newcastle (H), Cardiff (H), QPR (A), Derby (H), Ipswich (A), Fulham (H)

Promotion odds: 4/1

What mark out of 10 would you give Wednesday's season so far and why?

6/10.

It's been a little bit disappointing in the sense that the football has been nowhere near as exciting as it was last season in Carlos Carvalhal's first campaign in charge.

Then, they were dynamic and genuinely one of the most entertaining teams in the Championship. This time around, Carvalhal has probably gone too far in attempting to make the team harder to beat.

To his credit, he realised that they dropped too many points against so-called lesser teams last season and they were quite open at times, but that attempt to shore things up has been to the detriment of the attacking fluency that was their mark last year.

Perhaps we were all spoiled by that, but real, memorable high-points this season have been few and far between.

That said, most would have accepted a play-off place (some felt the top top was achievable) and that's where they currently are.

How have fans seen the season so far? Are they happy with how things are going at the club?

Last season raised expectation levels, understandably, and not living up to them has caused something of a split.

Some fans believe the team haven't moved forward enough, given the big investment in the squad from owner Dejphon Chansiri and there have been more than a few grumbles about the quality of football on show.

On the other hand, there are those who are happy to be seen as a force in this division again after all the years of heartache and mediocrity that came after Wednesday dropped out of the Premier League in 2000.

Overall, there's no doubting that the club are in a very good place thanks to Mr Chansiri who, in a time of wariness towards foreign ownership, has shown himself to be a compassionate and committed chairman.

How do you see Wednesday's run-in and what's your prediction for where they will finish?

The next eight games are huge and hugely difficult. There are two South Yorkshire derbies coming up away to both Barnsley and Rotherham United in the space of a few days.

Certainly in the case of Rotherham, most teams would see that as an easy three points, but the local pride adds a more difficult element.

Then everything after that is tricky in it's own way - leaders Newcastle; a visit from Sheffield United legend Neil Warnock, who would love to put the skids on a play-off challenge, with Cardiff City; an improving QPR at Loftus Road; the unpredictability of Derby and Ipswich and then Fulham, currently breathing down Wednesday's necks in seventh on the final day.

I think it will rest on the first two games; if they get six points from the derbies then the confidence gained from that will see them through but only just. A scrape into the play-offs and after that... who knows?

Fulham - Ryan O'Donovan (Get West London)
Current league position: 7

Points: 61

Key player: Tom Cairney

Run-in: Rotherham (A), Derby (A), Ipswich (H), Norwich (A), Aston Villa (H), Huddersfield (A), Brentford (H), Sheffield Wednesday (A)

Promotion odds: 7/2

What mark out of 10 would you give Fulham's season so far and why?

8/10.

They've done extremely well in the past couple of months to haul themselves right into the play-off mix and they would've been delighted at the start of the campaign to be a point off the play-offs coming into the last eight games.

The football they're playing is unrecognisable to past seasons too and that has been one of the major positives of this season.

How have fans seen the season so far? Are they happy with how things are going at the club?

The fans are very happy this season - there is a feeling that the way Slavisa Jokanovic has got Fulham playing football is possibly the best they've seen at Craven Cottage for a very long time.

There's an air of excitement around the Cottage at the moment after a few seasons of, let's be honest, dire football, the fans are delighted with the way Fulham play football now and are looking forward to the future.

How do you see Fulham's run-in and what's your prediction for where they will finish?

There are still twists and turns in this play-off race but on paper, Fulham have a decent run in but I have a feeling it will all hinge on that final day trip to Hillsborough when they face Sheffield Wednesday.

That said, I have every confidence Fulham will finish in the play-offs and I can see them finishing the season in fifth and I don't think anyone would fancy facing them in the play-off games.

Norwich City - Michael Bailey (Norwich Evening News)
Current league position: 8

Points: 57

Key player: Cameron Jerome

Run-in: Aston Villa (A), Huddersfield (A), Reading (H), Fulham (H), Preston (A), Brighton (H), Leeds (A), QPR (H)

Promotion odds: 28/1

What mark out of 10 would you give Norwich's season so far and why?

4/10.

The only reason it's not been a complete disaster is that if it was, the season would already be mathematically over. But it's not been much better.

Under-performing stars, sticking with Alex Neil too long – then sacking him anyway, injuries at the wrong time, a dire away record... and they were top of the league in September. The mark almost feels generous.

How have fans seen the season so far?

See above. The fact promotion was the solely stated aim, the fans have felt things haven't been managed to make that happen – and the fallout is ongoing.

The club's current restructure and search for a new head coach at least has them hoping the future is brighter.

But the pressure really is on the City board to get their appointments right, otherwise things will take another turn for the worse.

How do you see Norwich's run-in and what's your prediction for where they will finish?

It's a tough run-in anyway but given City haven't beaten any side in the current top nine this season, the evidence says they haven't got a chance of finishing higher than their current position.

That all said, they do have plenty of quality and they have a safe pair of hands in charge, in Alan Irvine. However, the reality is they will probably finish where they are now – at best. Eighth.

Preston North End - Dave Seddon (Lancashire Evening Post)
Current league position: 9th

Points: 57

Key player: Aiden McGeady

Run-in: Nottingham Forest (H), Bristol City (H), Leeds (A), Huddersfield (A), Norwich (H), Newcastle (A), Rotherham (H), Wolves (A)

Promotion odds: 66/1

What mark out of 10 would you give Preston's season so far and why?

8.5/10.

In the second week of September, Preston were second bottom of the Championship. To now be ninth and to have gone as high as eighth, is a huge improvement - they have lost just five of their last 30 league games.

They have one of the lowest budgets and wage bills in the division but Simon Grayson has identified players who have fitted into the club and who he can develop.

There is a young core to the squad but around them are the experienced heads of Aiden McGeady, Tom Clarke, Paul Gallagher and Alex Baptiste.

How have fans seen the season so far?

After the start to the season Preston had, there is probably an element of surprise of how high they have risen. That said, expectation levels have grown as the season has gone on.

Crowds haven't grown with the better form though, which is a bit of a concern. The away support is strong with a combined 14,000 attending the last three Saturday away games but attendances have flat-lined at Deepdale.

How do you see Preston's run-in and what's your prediction for where they will finish?

The run-in is a mixed bag, with games against teams at the top and bottom.

Three tough away games - Leeds, Huddersfield and Newcastle - could shape the destiny of the season. North End are without an away win in seven games.

Their home form is very strong though, their last league defeat at Deepdale being on Boxing Day, with them unbeaten in seven and having won the last four.

I predict an eighth place finish because maybe they have have themselves with a bit too much to do.

Fulham Keen To Sign Emenike From Fenerbahce

English Championship club Fulham FC are considering a move for former Super Eagles striker Emmanuel Emenike.

According to Turkish sports newspaper, Fotomac, Emenike, 29, who has been at Fenerbahce since 2013 is currently out of favour at the Turkish club, for whom he has started just seven league games all season.

Emenike has scored seven times and provided four assists in 21 appearances in all competitions this season.

His contract is up in June of next year and, with no extension planned, he is expected to be sold in the summer hence Fulham's reported interest.

It has even been suggested that the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations winner is already in London as he steps up his pursuit of a new club.

If Emenike eventually joins Fulham, it will be his second stint in English football.

In 2016, Emenike spent time on loan with West Ham but failed to score in any of his 13 Premier League appearances, with his only goals coming in a 5-1 win at Blackburn in the FA Cup

Inside The New York Stadium

Rotherham United fan Richard Marriott gives his take on what's gone wrong for his club this season, and assesses Saturday's meeting with Fulham.

How did you end up as a Rotherham fan?

My dad starting taking me when I was around six years old, back in the Millmoor days when kids could crawl under the turnstiles. I spent my first two seasons kicking cans around with the other kids at the front of the main stand.
What have been your highlights from watching Rotherham over the years?

There have been a few: back-to-back promotions...twice; first trip to the old Wembley; first trip to the new Wembley. But I have to say the biggest highlight was the trip to Plymouth four years ago. A bunch of us had paid to fly down there, but the landlord who organised the trip from the Hare and Hounds pub decided to do a bunk with all the money without booking the flight. At the 11th hour, the brewery laid on coaches, free bar and breakfast, and we headed down. Six hours later we arrived and the atmosphere was one of the best I have been part of. And we won, which made it all the more sweet.
What has gone wrong this season do you think?

Ultimately, for me, it comes down to the late appointment of an inexperienced manager in Alan Stubbs. Whatever the reasons you accept for Neil Warnock not staying, the decision was left too late. With a lot of the pre-season gone and having to panic buy our way through the transfer window, we were on the back foot. Couple this with Kenny Jacket leaving after a month, and an inconsistent and interchangeable back four, and we were never going to flourish.

Rotherham impressed at Craven Cottage this season – was there still a lot of hope in the camp at that time?

There's always hope as a Rotherham fan, and I imagine this is so within most small clubs. We live to do the impossible. We had shown signs this season that there was potential in the side but unfortunately not all of the team were showing this at the same time.
Who have been your better players this term?

I think winger Anthony Forde has shown massive improvement and is trying to get at defenders with a little more confidence. Striker Danny Ward set off well and suffered under Jackett who didn't play his chief provider, Izzy Brown. That was a partnership that Paul Warne re-introduced. In recent games, Will Vaulks has become somewhat of a leader, playing in a position (right-back) which is not his first choice and adapting to it well. He appears to be the player who speaks up on the pitch and tries to motivate, and he always gives an honest interview.

What's the take on the caretaker manager?

Warney is an absolute legend. I think he has done very well with what is available to him. He comes across as an incredibly honest person and is in a difficult position. He originally insisted he didn't want the job full-time, but still needs to make long-term decisions regarding squad contracts, bringing in new talent and who to let go. I think he could be a great manager but still has much to learn. I guess it all comes down to whether he wants to do it.
With relegation practically confirmed, do you think the team will play without pressure now?

Hopefully. It's a perfect opportunity to see the whole squad and learn which players have a fight-to-the-end attitude.
Do you think you can come straight back up next year?

Ask me again in December. I think it's time for us to build for the longer term, improve the training facilities, develop the backroom staff and work with the youth team. If we don't build the strong foundations needed, promotion back to the Championship will always end the same.
Which Fulham players do you think could cause you problems?

Any with the ball at their feet. It's a strong squad. Their league position tells us that it's going to be another tricky game, and we could be broken down easily by a handful of players.
Where's a good place for away fans to have a drink before the game?

Most away fans go to the Bridge Inn. It's an Old Mill Brewery pub opposite the train station and only a 10 minute walk to the New York Stadium.
What score prediction are you going for?

A 1-0 Rotherham win. Everything tells me that we should take another beating but I will go against my gut and say a victory for Rotherham. I see a 0-0 first half and then a cheeky last-minute goal in the second. I think we must be due a result, even if it ends up being an undeserved one.

US Player Ratings: Howard, Ream, Pulisic lead on nervy night in Panama

In a game where the result slightly outshined the performance, the US national team battled CONCACAF hexagonal hosts Panama to a 1-1 draw on Tuesday night.

In a stark departure from Friday's schooling of Honduras, the visitors spent most of the match in awkward shapes, especially when in possession. However, Christian Pulisic and Clint Dempsey combined for another highlight-reel goal to earn the US an important away point.

Tim Howard (7) - The Colorado Rapids netminder did well to snuff a good Luis Tejada chance near the hour in making the best of his three saves on the night. Some observers may bark that Howard was glued to his line too long on the Panama goal, but it says here that there's really not much he can do when the defense flakes in that manner.

Graham Zusi (5) - The newly-converted right back definitely had some troubles with Alberto Quintero, but did handle matters more solidly as the game progressed. Surprisingly, Zusi only completed a single positive pass in the attack end over 90 minutes.

Omar Gonzalez (6) - It was a decent but unspectacular outing for the Pachuca man, who had less to do than his back line mates. Gonzalez was found hoofing the ball away a bit too often, but did manage to connect a handful of long passes into the Panama half.

Tim Ream (7) - Were it not for his costly flub dealing with Adolfo Machado's long throw on the home side's goal, Ream would be the clear man of the match for the US. With that one glaring exception, he was excellent. Pressed in to duty on short notice, the Fulham defender registered 15 clearances and a big shot block.

Jorge Villafaña (5) - As with Ream, Villafaña's worst episode happened on the Panama tally. He fell asleep just long enough for Gabriel Gomez to squirt free and pounce on the loose ball. Other than that error, he was fine.

Michael Bradley (5.5) - The captain didn't make many mistakes on the night, but he also didn't exert much influence over the proceedings. His passing game and defensive work improved after a bland first half, but it was still too easy for Panama to travel through the middle.

Jermaine Jones (5.5) - Of course, part of the reason Panama had lanes to drive down central was that Jones also likes to travel. He was also typically strong defensively in one-v-one battles, sticking his foot in to halt some rushes. The LA Galaxy veteran was only sparingly useful on the ball, but it was his clever pass that released Pulisic on the US goal play.

Christian Pulisic (6.5) - The Borussia Dortmund wunderkind was repeatedly frustrated by Panama's physical play. Still, attackers only need that one big play to make the grade, and Pulisic's was a doozy. He got loose to hypnotize two defenders on his way to teeing up Dempsey for an easy equalizer.

Darlington Nagbe (6) - The Portland ace was an effective pressure valve, albeit one that tended to hold the ball too long after wiggling into the Panama end. Unlike in their previous games together, Nagbe didn't connect so well with Villafaña up the flank.

Clint Dempsey (6.5) - The man they call Deuce had one terrific lead pass to spring Pulisic, but other than that failed to get much going until he bagged the US goal. In a tight CONCACAF away tussle,  though, one play is enough to make a difference.

Jozy Altidore(5.5) - Due to the team's disorganized play on the ball, Altidore was effectively turned into an innocent bystander. He didn't get a touch in the final third until shortly before he departed on 83 minutes, and had just five in the Panama end all game long.

Coach Bruce Arena (6) - Considering the boss kept losing starters right up to game time, it's hard to be too judgmental. That said, the team's shape was a mess for much of the game and the great alteration never came. Were it not for Pulisic's moment of magic, this could easily have been an annoying defeat. On the other hand, the team could have grabbed a huge win if the set piece defense didn't bungle Machado's long throw.  We'll call this one even.
Subs:

Alejandro Bedoya (6) - The Philly Union attacker worked both wings in his 21 minutes, and as often is the case, the team ran smoother when he was on the field.

Kellyn Acosta (6) - The FC Dallas midfielder looked lively off the bench.

Paul Arriola (6) - The late sub entered ready to ask questions of the Panama defence.

Fulham set for summer transfer battle with European giants for international striker

According to a report by Get West London, Fulham are set to compete for the signing of Emmanuel Emenike in the summer.

Emmanuel Emenike looks set to leave Turkish giants Fenerbahce in the summer after growing increasingly frustrated with his lack of playing time.

Championship outfit Fulham have been alerted to this situation and his potential availability but they will have to fend off interest from a number of top flight Russian clubs to land Emenike.

The Nigerian international is said to be keen on a return to Russia, where he previously scored 23 goals in 42 appearances over two years with Spartak Moscow.

Emmanuel Emenike has previously played in England, too, spending half a season on loan at Premier League side West Ham United but he failed to make much of an impact in East London.

The 29-year-old scored twice for the Hammers in 16 games, both of which came against Blackburn.

Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic is believed to be interested in Emenike as he looks to strengthen up front in the summer.

Baffling: Why on earth is Jokanovic not using these 2 Fulham players more?

Fulham have had a good season in 2016/17 after enduring relegation battles in their previous two seasons in the second tier.

But the Cottagers have been nowhere near the drop zone this year, and are strong competitors for a top six finish.

Fulham are just one point behind sixth position, and have played some great football under boss Slavisa Jokanovic.

Jokanovic's side have lost just nine games this season, only top two sides Newcastle and Brighton have fewer defeats to their name.

Players like Tom Cairney, Sone Aluko and youngster Ryan Sessegnon have been revelations this season as Fulham have played attractive and attacking football, that's seen them rise up the table.

Fulham have vastly improved this season, they have already surpassed their total points tally from last season and could still gain promotion via the play-offs.

The upturn in form has mainly been down to the talent that was brought into the club over the summer – but here are TWO players that perhaps deserve more game time at Craven Cottage...

Scott Parker

Despite having 30 appearances to his name this season, Scott Parker has made just 13 starts for the Cottagers in all competitions in 2016/17.

The 36- year-old can bring experience to the side as they push for promotion and a return to the Premier League.

Parker has played at the top level for the majority of his career, making top flight outings for Chelsea, Tottenham, West Ham and Newcastle.

The former England international could add more depth to the Fulham midfield in their battle for a play-off place if given more minutes on the pitch.

Lucca De La Torre

Lucca De La Torre is a youngster at Fulham who has made three appearances this season.

The 18-year-old was on the bench for Fulham's loss to Wolves last week, but is still yet to make his league debut for the London side.

Fulham fans could see more of De La Torre in the next year or so, as he has shown he can break into the first team, playing in League Cup matches against Leyton Orient, Middlesbrough and Bristol City earlier this season.

Jokanovic has given youngster Ryan Sessegnon a chance this season, and he's been very impressive.

The Fulham boss should do the same with De La Torre as he has the potential to be a great player for the Cottagers.

Why this £2.55m-rated Fulham starlet should reject Arsenal and Liverpool

Fulham's charge up the Championship table can continue this weekend as they travel to relegation-threatened Rotherham, in a game that could see them move into the top-six.

Slavisa Jokanovic's side have been knocking on the play-off places door for a number of weeks now and with the likes of Huddersfield and Sheffield Wednesday both losing form in recent matches, there could be an excellent chance to leapfrog their rivals this weekend.

Rotherham have been seriously poor all season and are all but set for the drop but there's still a job to be done and Fulham need to travel to Yorkshire and ensure they get the win.

And one man that has certainly shone for the Cottagers all season has been £2.55million-rated Ryan Sessegnon, who at just 16-years-old, looks more of a first-team player than most in the entire division.

The 16-year-old, who is still yet to sign a professional deal with the club, has shone this season as he works his way up the footballing ladder and as the summer approaches, he and Fulham will have some massive decisions to make about his future.

As with any piece of young, English talent, there's going to be a price on his head but that hasn't stopped some of the biggest teams in the country tracking Sessegnon's progress, especially after his double handed the Cottagers a superb 3-1 away win at Newcastle a couple of weeks back.

But when the big teams come knocking, the need to make the right decision also comes into play too. At Craven Cottage, Sessegnon is playing regular football with some of the most exemplary players we've seen in England for years- take Scott Parker.

He has the full trust of his manager and as every week goes by, he improves.

We've seen plenty of young players cash this in for a big chance at Manchester City etc, but at times, it's been a decision that really hasn't paid off- look at Patrick Roberts.

For Sessegnon and his development, the best thing right now would be to sign that first pro deal, stay put and keep improving. Granted, he's had a superb season so far but moving forwards, the pressure will only rise.

And at 16-years-old, it's a lot to deal with, let alone having a transfer to one of the biggest clubs to worry about.

Bassey the warrior

That valuation of Sessegnon is such nonsense. If we sign him up to a professional contract we should get upwards of £15 million as this is what Arsenal paid for Oxlade-Chamberlain and he was older.  Plus the market is inflated and the Pound depreciated.

Thought that was quite funny.......think it's just a footballleagueworld article. Even the one re Parker and De La Torre (they can't even spell Luca) seems a bit drastic (why on earth...) to me!
