I think that the problem is that there are some folk who are genuine and may sometimes get it wrong but have integrity and are believable. Then (as as been mentioned above) there are other posters/people that quite simply are not believable and appear to make stuff for some form of weird ego boost.

It is just like journalists and newspaper claiming an exclusive only for the news to be on every other channel within minutes this is all about the ego of the poster. So who can remember who on here broke Cairney or Sessegnon signing new contracts or Djalo or Cisse signing and who apart from those posters cares?

And what are we punters getting? That someone may or may not be having a medical? That's not news without further detail, that's click bait and is just winding readers up. As such the posters should expect abuse and it is not undeserved.

Does that apply if a player turns down the club because he got a better offer? As what I know and have said isn't rumour but if you wish it treated as such I will refrain from posting the info I get.

We all come here hopeing  for transfer news and big thanks to those who are able to give such info, please don't let those who criticise stop you from doing so.
Even genuine info  is sometimes proved worthless when players or agents change their minds or are just useing us for a better deal elsewhere.
Westcliff on the info you have has your source told you the name of the player concerned? I am not asking you to name him just curious if you know.

No, your posts about Rolan are an example of what I would hope such items would be.

We understand that posters cannot always give full details but a post ought to have some identifiable substance to it such as it a player who we have had rumours about before, their position or the expected timing of an announcement.

Your posts give a lot of detail about the state of the negotiations and can also be read in two ways, either as insider knowledge or reasonable supposition about why there are delays in completing a deal and why we might lose out.

Hmm this has turned into 'I wont offer insider info anymore' when, from what I saw, the argument was 'someone having a medical' is just non info compared to what the apparent person knows that you might as well have said nothing. Its dangling a hook and offering nothing. If someone said 'have it on good authority, 'x' is having a medical but its not certain', people would far more respect than 'someone having a medical.' Its literally a nothing comment and offers nothing and only prompts peoples interest but frustrates because they don't know who/why/what position/previous team/likelihood and more. Theres a difference between posting good/interesting insider info which everyone appreciates, and that....

I believe this too be true and I can't understand why people must question others and demand their source.  If someone in the know has a good source then they should keep that source a secret.  If people continue to question every little bit of news or gossip that is posted then there will nothing to discuss.  People just need to take everything they hear and or read with a healthy little bit of skepticism and not try to over interpret what a poster is saying or from where they got their info.

Again, the main criticisms aren't 'who is the source' as opposed to 'what kind of insight is "someone is having a medical"'. I'm criticising people who say they know the full story but can't release the source, thats fine and dandy, but offer something more poultry than 'someone is having a medical' that's just nothing...The gripe isn't the revealing of the source, but the detail of the news.

I don't want people to name their sources. I want to know if it is from someone on twitter or someone they know or something like that. I've seen twitter rumors posted as absolute facts with nothing else stated.

People that are ITK, feel free to be as cryptic and smug as possible, but say if it is from your personal sources or somewhere else.

Now that everyone's had their gripe for the day, can we just go ahead and say that Rolan's in town having his bells and whistles checked and will be announced Friday? We really need another striker thru the door so that we can get back to getting a good CB in as well.

Oh and who else is rubbing their greedy little hands together thinking about the chunk of money that Levy is going to have to offer up for Sess after his performance vs Germany this weekend? I hope and pray we get promoted this season so that I can see the kid play on the regular and on the big screen for once.
