A 5-day event of Jamie Vardy's academy starts tomorrow in Manchester. 42 non-league players will train and play matches against them and against a couple of other teams hoping they will win a professional contract.

Scouts from 65 clubs will be watching them, Fulham among them: http://www.v9academy.co.uk/scouting/ (there are a few words from Mike Rigg on the Endorsements section).

Do you think we might find a non-league player?

Before people say there won't be talent there, the US starting left back came from something similar.

I've always wondered why recruitment within professional sporting industries have been so stringent with recruitment for potential professionals at a young age. I believe Drogba, Vidic and Evra were all, for example late to the game and it seems to make sense that others who aren't professional but older and probably just as talented as full time professionals.

They have it in the NFL I believe and perhaps other u.s based sports with open selection days. I think it makes sense and healthy.

Well done Jamie, never forgotten your roots.
Is a dream a lie if it don't come true?

Bear in mind, a lot of non league players, when in their teens were just as good as many of the pros. Somewhere along the line, for whatever reasons, they get released and I think many just give up trying and get a day job out of necessity.

I am sure they are out there if you look hard enough.
Its not the man in the fight, it's the fight in the man.  🐘

Never forget your Roots.

Good work from him, he's given a lot of coverage to non-league players who could make it. Would love to see some of these players get picked up and fulfill their dreams.

The Intertoto might not exist anymore, but that doesn't matter. We'll still win it again.
