Worst Passing Stats.

Most of us think that Stats can be misleading and the only thing that really counts in football is scoring more goals than the opposition.
Never-the less we do look at them and tend to hang our hats on favourable Fulham Stats

One stat that caught my eye last week was that Cardiff are the worst passers in the Championship.

Think I could live with Fulham having that title if we Had a three point lead at the top of the Championship.

Not surprising when you look at the manager they have.

Averaged over a season, ball retention wins more games. Let's look at it again at the end of the season.

Absolutely, but it is a little surprising that Cardiff are managing to do just that and at the same time be the leagues worst passers. However three good long balls to a big striker which he manages to control and score from combined with a tight defence and you have a match winning formula.

Wow 15,000 Votz, that sounds like a lot of energy.
Be careful though, don't think of giving up the count and starting all over again as that would be simply revolting ( sorry just couldn't resist that)

Fulham plan: possession matters. High passing stats = good

Cardiff plan: big quick forwards need service before defence regroups. Low passing stats = good

And that in a nutshell is why I will never ever get bored of this game.  Think you have a plan that trumps the others?  Maybe, but not for long.  Just ask Leicester.  Cardiff's approach is nothing like last season - can't imagine Peter Whittingham doing what they do now.  So they have the benefit of surprise, but that won't last long.
