The loss of Parker, not so much as a player, but as a squad influence and uniting force may be the most understated reason we are not what we once were.  Perhaps the recruitment team would like to consider signing an older player as a talisman to hold the squad together, improve morale, and make coaching a much simpler task.  I don't think it is the only reason why this season has gone pear-shaped by any means but it seems to be an exceedingly important ingredient in achieving success when you have a bunch of lost souls looking for somewhere to be happy.

We have been in desperate need for a striker since Dembele and Ross left. The fact we haven't managed to bring in more than a disgruntles loan player last season and two very different but inadequate strikers this. Is the reason or partly the reason we are where we are. We scored last season and created chances. This season we have been found out by clubs who simply have to pressure us and we have no get out. Yesterday we made so many errors in trying to play from the back that 2-0 could and should have been 4 or 5-0.

Had we a striker or two then opposition would feel less confident in knowing that pressure destroys our entire system. Thus we no longer create many chances and have nobody to finish them when we do.

Plus we have a central defenders who are always going to be vulnerable to crosses against big forwards. Our full backs are our best attackers but are not defending crosses. Fonte and Kamara are certainly a big part of our problem. Much would be solved with better strikers.

Of course we need, and have needed, a striker.  Since Ross left we have relied too heavily on our attacking midfielders and FBs to b ang in goals. It worked for a while last season but that just hid the inadequacies of our strike force.
