Fulham vs Derby County: Is it time for a change in Slavisa Jokanovic's team selection?

Have your say and pick your starting XI for the game with Derby at the Cottage on Saturday evening

Fulham return from the international break and head straight into a tough encounter with Derby County at the Cottage in Saturday's late game.

It hasn't been a good time for the Whites, having failed to win in their previous five games with Slavisa Jokanovic trying to change things to make it work, but to no avail.

The outing against Wolves was particularly disappointing, with Fulham never really looking like being in the game while Wolves looked like they were using it as a training game.

If you were the boss, is it time to make serious changes to the starting XI to stop the rot?

Denis Odoi came in at centre back for Tomas Kalas in the last game before the break, would you keep the Belgian at centre half or switch it up again?

Three Crucial Games But How Many Points?

The season, so far, hasn`t gone according to plan.

After making the play-offs last season we were naturally hoping the side could go one better this season and regain the Premier League status we lost what seems an age ago.

But, at the moment, that doesn`t seem to be the case, unless Slavisa Jokanovic can turnaround things and sent the team on a long run of victories.

The international break is now all but over, a last round of friendly fixtures needs to be played before the Championship action can resume.

Before November comes to an end, Fulham have 3 fixtures to play:

• Saturday 18th November - Derby County (h)
• Tuesday 21st November - Sheffield United (a)

and

• Saturday 25th November - Millwall (h)

Here at Vital Fulham we`d like to think that the team can take a maximum 9 points out of the 9 available, but suspect that won`t be the case.

We suspect 5 will be the likely total!

Therefore, as we prepare for the resumption of domestic football, we`d like you to predict how many points Fulham will get from the next three games.

We've been working (ahem) and looking at how Slavisa Jokanovic's rate in the newest edition of the game

Football fans everywhere, from the workplace to the halls of residence at uni, are currently spending countless hours taking Billericay Town to the Champions League after Football Manager 2018 was released to the world.

Fulham Q&A: A poor October, the international break and looking ahead to Derby County

Join Fulham reporter Ryan O'Donovan for our Fulham lunchtime chat ahead of the Derby game

Welcome to our weekly Fulham Q&A session with reporter Ryan O'Donovan as we look back on a terrible October for the Whites and look ahead to Derby County.

Five games without a win just isn't good enough for a side that were tipped by many for promotion this season and their next test is another tough one against Gary Rowett's Derby.

There's also been the issue of Craig Kline's sacking which has seen the club undergo a bit of turmoil behind the scenes recently, which coupled with their on-the-field displays has left fans worried.

We're hosting our Tuesday lunchtime chat from 12pm, but you can get your questions in now using the form below and ask our Fulham reporter, Ryan O'Donovan, anything that is on your mind regarding Fulham.

£1,671 Raised For Prostate Cancer UK

Fulham fans raised an impressive £1,671 for Prostate Cancer UK during their match day collection on 14 October in a bid to relegate a disease that kills one man every 45 minutes.

The Championship side were one of 11 clubs to host match days and generous supporters helped raise a combined total of more than £11,000 as part of a continued programme of events with the Official Charity Partner of the EFL, Prostate Cancer UK.

As well as raising money on the day through a collection outside Craven Cottage, the club also raised funds in the hospitality suites and two representatives from the charity walked the players on to the pitch ahead of kick-off.

The Cottagers drew 2-2 with Preston North End, whose fans also chipped in with a life-saving contribution on a hugely successful afternoon.

Together fans of the Championship, League One and League Two clubs have raised vital funds which will go towards improving diagnosis, treatment, prevention and support to ultimately help stop prostate cancer being a killer.

James Beeby, Director of Fundraising at Prostate Cancer UK, said: "The power of football consistently helps us reach out to men and their friends and families, and we are very grateful for the continued backing from Fulham and Preston North End as well as many other clubs across the EFL and beyond.

"One man dies every 45 minutes from this disease. That's two men during a football match, so we're grateful once again that Fulham and Preston North End fans have joined the fight against prostate cancer to raise vital funds for Prostate Cancer UK.

"The money raised by clubs and their fantastic fans will fund ground-breaking research to help fight the disease. That will help us provide dedicated support and information to men and their families affected by this disease. We thank everyone involved for helping us relegate prostate cancer."

As well as fans generously donating on the day, managers from across the football fraternity, including Slaviša Jokanović, have also been getting behind the cause by wearing the iconic Prostate Cancer UK 'Man of Men' pin badge and speaking out about the disease that affects one in eight men in the UK, a statistic that worsens to one in four if you are a black man.

Jokanović said: "It's scary to think in a game of 90 minutes that two men will die of prostate cancer and something we have to address and an opponent we must beat.

"I'm proud to wear my 'Man of Men' pin badge and support the great work of Prostate Cancer UK in tackling this hugely important issue.

"Football can be the great unifier and from wearing this badge, to raising crucial funds and awareness, I hope we can all lead the fightback."

This support from clubs and their fans is set to continue into 2018 as a new line-up of Prostate Cancer UK match day fixtures will soon be unveiled at clubs up and down the country. New dates will be announced soon and the charity are urging fans and people in the local community to join the fight and help at a local game. You can register interest at prostatecanceruk.org/matchdays.

Many people are unaware that prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men. It's a huge issue that cannot be ignored. One man will die from prostate cancer every 45 minutes in the UK. That's over 11,000 men a year. Based on current trends, if we ignore prostate cancer and do nothing, this number will rise to over 14,500 men a year by 2026.

Details will soon be available about the 2018 games, where you can find the nearest match to volunteer and get a free ticket rel="noopener noreferrer" to the game, visit: prostatecanceruk.org/matchdays.

Additionally, to show your support and get Prostate Cancer UK's 'Man of Men' badge to wear with pride, text BADGE to 70004 to donate £5* and help stop prostate cancer being a killer. For information about the badge and the charity's work in football visit prostatecanceruk.org/whostheman.

*Text costs £5 plus network charge. Prostate Cancer UK receives 100% of your donation. Obtain bill payers permission. Customer care 0800 082 1616. Charity No 1005541.

Fulham winger back in training ahead of Derby County clash

The 20-year-old dislocated his shoulder in a 2-1 win over QPR back in September

Derby County travel to face Fulham at Craven Cottage on Saturday, in their first match after the international break.

The Rams are currently in seventh place in the Championship - one point behind sixth placed Aston Villa with a game in hand.

One player who has returned to first-team training for Fulham is winger Sheyi Ojo.

The 20-year-old winger, who was linked with the Rams in the summer, dislocated his shoulder in his side's 2-1 win over Queens Park Rangers back in September, and is yet to feature since.

Ojo recently tweeted saying that he's back in first-team training, and says he's "feeling good".

Since moving to Craven Cottage on a season-long loan from Premier league side Liverpool in the summer, Ojo has made seven appearances, six of which in the league, and hasn't scored a goal.

Class of 96/97

Former Fulham Manager Micky Adams will return to Craven Cottage on Saturday to meet fans and sign copies of his new autobiography, My Life In Football.

Adams joined the Whites as a player in the summer of 1994, but it was his time in the dugout for which he is most fondly remembered.

Having taken charge midway through the 1995/96 season, Adams helped steer the Club clear of the very real possibility of relegation from the Football League.

He spent that summer rebuilding his squad on a shoestring budget, putting together a close knit group of hard working individuals who defied the odds to win promotion from the old Division Three the following term.

Indeed, today the Whites would have gone up as Champions as they had the same points and a superior goal difference to Wigan Athletic, but the old 'Goals scored' ruling meant the Latics took top spot. In true Fulhamish style, it was a rule that had previously been endorsed by our former Chairman Jimmy Hill.

Adams will be at the Stadium Store from 3-4pm on Saturday prior to our 5.30pm meeting with Derby County, before being introduced to the fans on the pitch at half-time, alongside the following members of his promotion-winning side:

World Cup Heartbreak for Fulham Duo
by Lydia on November 14, 2017

It doesn't look as though Fulham will have much of an impact at next year's World Cup in Russia after both Northern Ireland and DR Congo crashed out at the final hurdle leaving both Ollie Norwood and Neeskens Kebano heart broken.

For Northern Ireland, it was a two-legged play-off between them and Switzerland to decide a place at the World Cup. After 180minutes of football, it was only Ricardo Rodriguez's controversial penalty in Belfast that sealed the tie. Norwood started both the 1-0 defeat in Belfast and the 0-0 draw in Basel, but came off after 75minutes for Charlton man Josh Magennis in the second leg. Northern Ireland will feel frustrated in the manner of defeat thanks to a penalty that should never have been awarded, but no one can doubt that Switzerland had the better of the chances throughout both legs. Norwood struggled to keep Arsenal man Granit Xhaka quiet in the first leg, but put in a much more dominant performance in Basel where Northern Ireland piled the pressure on to their hosts. Ultimately it wasn't to be for the Fulham midfielder and Northern Ireland as they missed out on a chance to reach back to back major tournaments for the first time in their history.

It was a slightly different story for Neeskens Kebano and DR Congo as they won their last group game, but missed out on a World Cup spot thanks to results not going their way elsewhere. DR Congo put in an impressive performance to beat Guinea 3-1, with our man getting himself on the scoresheet deep into injury time with a right footed shot alongside an own goal from Ousmane Sidibe and a Jonathan Bolingi penalty. But Tunisia's goalless draw with Libya was enough for them to finish top of the group and to shatter the hopes and dreams of DR Congo. Kebano played the full match.

Injury boost for Fulham, Sheyi Ojo could make his return against Derby County

Fulham winger Sheyi Ojo has returned to training after recovering from his shoulder injury and the 20-year-old could make his first appearance since September against Derby.

The highly talented Liverpool winger is on loan at Craven Cottage right now and he has made just seven appearances for the Londoners so far. Ojo dislocated his shoulder during his side's 2-1 win over QPR back in September.

The fans will be delighted with the news of Ojo's return. The Liverpool winger's pace and flair could be decisive against the Rams this week. Derby have conceded 19 goals in 15 league games so far and Ojo could run riot against them.

Fulham are in 17th place right now and they will be hoping to climb up the table with a win this weekend. Ojo's return is well timed and the Liverpool winger can still make a big difference in Fulham's season.

Fulham will want to secure promotion to the Premier League this season and players like Ojo could prove to be crucial. The young winger has impressed with Liverpool in the past and he certainly has the talent to shine in the Championship.

The 20-year-old will be hoping to put his injury problems behind him and perform on a consistent basis now.

Dynamo's Senderos looking forward to "great match" vs. ex-teammate Dempsey

HOUSTON – Philippe Senderos' goals when he signed with the Houston Dynamo in late August were "to play as many matches as possible and to win as much as possible."

So far, so good.

He only made two starts in as many appearances during the regular season. But now the three-time Swiss World Cup veteran is playing, having started all three playoff matches for Houston. And as far as winning "as much as possible," his team is one of four left in the hunt for the 2017 MLS Cup.

Senderos, whose resumé consists of clubs most players could only dream of playing at, is no stranger to helping his side to a final. He was part of the Arsenal squad that made the club's only UEFA Champions League final appearance in 2006, and also won a Community Shield and FA Cup with the Gunners.

He's also faced a who's who of legendary forwards, including Ronaldo, Sergio Agüero, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. Now he will be tasked with facing one of American soccer's icons when Houston match up against Clint Dempsey and Seattle Sounders FC in the MLS Western Conference Championship, which opens at BBVA Compass Stadium on Tuesday, Nov. 21 (9:30 pm ET | FS1, FOX Deportes in US, TSN, TVAS in Canada).

"We played together for a few years [at Fulham]," said Senderos of Dempsey. "A dangerous player, very good, and it's going to be a great match."

Senderos won't be the only Swiss making an impact in this series, with 2017 MLS Cup MVP Stefan Frei in goal for the Sounders.

"I don't know him personally, he's only played here in the United States, he didn't play in Switzerland or with the national team," said Senderos of Frei. "I've seen that he's done a great job here – I'm happy for all the Swiss who do well abroad."

Another of Senderos' countrymen thriving in MLS is Montreal Impact midfielder Blerim Dzemaili – who featured in Switzerland's hard-won victory over Northern Ireland in their UEFA qualifying playoff for a spot at the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

The last time La Nati needed a playoff to qualify, Senderos started in both matches and scored in the first leg against Turkey as Switzerland used the away-goal tiebreaker to advance to Germany 2006 after a 4-4 aggregate goals draw.

"They have a team with a lot of talent, maybe the strongest they've had up 'til now," he said of his national team. "[Dzemaili] is a very good player and has done things very well this year with Montreal, and continues to do so with the national team."

In the meantime, Senderos is making the most of the international break, having played 300 minutes so far in the Audi 2017 MLS Cup Playoffs. The team captain in the last match, Senderos will look to help keep the Dynamo's record of zero goals against at home during this postseason intact.

"We had a common goal, and everyone stuck to it; we did a great job," he said of Houston's underdog postseason run. "To see that every single person is involved, wants to be involved and helps the other teammates is the best thing we can do. We know that the only way we are going to do something special is if we stick together and work hard."

Fulham Eyeing This Moroccan International: A Long Term Solution For Their Midfield Woes?

It has been a pretty difficult season for Fulham in the Championship. Slavisa Jokanovic's side have failed to follow up on their performance from last season. The Cottagers qualified for the playoffs last season but this time around they might need to be a little more cautious as relegation could be looming large in the near future.

Fulham are reportedly tracking Utrecht player Yassine Ayoub. The 23-year-old is very highly rated at the Dutch club and the Championship side now want the deal to materialise in January to improve their prospect this season.

Jokanovic has been looking for some exciting talents to be added to his side in January and has identified the player as a possible target. The Moroccan played a huge role as his current club Utrecht qualified for the Europa League last season and has been pretty consistent in this season too.

A product of the famed Ajax academy, Ayoub's contract is due to expire at the end of this season and looking at the current condition it seems the club have no intention to extend his stay.

So ideally a deal could be within reach if Utrecht decides to cash in on him. It would be increasingly impossible for Fulham to grab a place in the top six but Jokanovic wants to finish the season on a positive note.

The versatile player is basically a left winger but he has played in a number of positions including the ones in the midfield too. He is equally adept in the central midfield role and can also be very effective when it comes to controlling the play from the deep.

Despite representing Netherlands at various age group he decided to switch his allegiance to Morocco although he is yet to make an appearance for the country.

Fulham had their representative present on a number of occasions to watch the progress of the player and it seems they are quite satisfied with the player's development.

Fulham's lack of creativity has been one of their main problems and Ayoub could soon be the solution for the Cottagers. He has been one of the most consistent performers in the Eredivisie in the last few seasons and could lighten up the Championship with his brilliant pair of feet.

He has the poise and flair to meet the demands of the Championship and a move is likely to happen. If he does come at the Craven Cottage, Fulham might look forward to repeating their effort from the last term and reach as far as possible.
