Fulham's four-goal blitz sees off 10-man Ipswich

Fulham 4 Ipswich 1

Ryan Sessegnon and Aboubakar Kamara both scored twice as a four-goal blitz in the space of seven second-half minutes gave Fulham victory at Craven Cottage.

Ipswich, who went ahead through Joe Garner's header from Martyn Waghorn's right-wing free-kick just before half-time, were reduced to 10 men when Jordan Spence was sent off nine minutes into the second half.

Spence was given a straight red card for clattering into Kamara after the Whites striker had fouled Freddie Sears.

Fulham, who had dominated the game before going behind, took full advantage of the extra man and secured a resounding – and fully deserved – win.

They drew level when Kamara drove the ball in from the left and Neeskens Kebano's failure to finish at the far post inadvertently scooped the ball towards Sessegnon, who headed home.

There was also a touch of good fortune about Fulham's second.

After Kebano pulled the ball back from the right, Oliver Norwood shot straight at the legs of Kamara, teeing him up to score with an emphatic finish.

There was nothing fortuitous about the third goal, which was created by Tom Cairney, who tricked his way past three defenders inside the box and set up the unmarked Sessegnon for a simple tap-in at the far post.

Kamara's right-footed strike, which took a deflection off Tommy Smith, made it four for Fulham – and four goals in two matches for Kamara.

And Kamara missed an injury-time chance to complete his hat-trick when he fired wide after being put through by Norwood.

Fulham: Bettinelli, Fredericks, Odoi, Ream, Sessegnon (Soares 87), Norwood, Johansen, Cairney, Ojo (Piazon 65), Kamara, Ayite (Kebano 34).
Subs not used: Button, Kalas, McDonald, Fonte.

Head Coach Reaction

Slaviša Jokanović was pleased with how his team started the New Year, but hoped that the Whites wouldn't have to rely on a comeback like that to win every game.

"We need to concentrate more in this kind of situation, because after playing a brilliant half in the first 45 minutes to go into half-time 1-0 down is strange," the Head Coach said, sounding a note of caution.

"We don't need this kind of comeback like the one we played today. We need to score and to score first, before the opposition team."

Still, Jokanović was happy with his team's performance and how many chances they created.

"On the other hand, I must be satisfied," he admitted. "It's probably one of the best performances from my team.

"We played very well, we moved the ball, and we were able to find some benefits when Ipswich had to play with one player less. Even when it was 11 versus 11 I believe my team played better. We deserved these three points."

When asked about those wild eight minutes when the home team netted four goals, the Head Coach remained sanguine.

"We played a very good game of football today," he said. "We created more chances in that period of the second half than we did during the entire first 45 minutes. It's great when my team works very hard to score the goals. We scored some quality goals."

The Head Coach was full of praise for the goal scorers, too: "Ryan Sessegnon was twice in the right position. Ryan is probably the most talented player in this country at his age.

"His natural physical preparation is amazing. We have the opportunity to observe the beginning of one brilliant football career.

"And Aboubakar Kamara made a great effort and he's fighting very well. We must be satisfied with his contribution over the last two games—he scored four goals. That's good news for him, and good news for us too."

Fulham 4-1 Ipswich Town

Jordan Spence's first career red card proved the turning point at Craven Cottage

Fulham scored four times in seven second-half minutes to come from behind and beat 10-man Ipswich Town.

Ipswich took the lead when Joe Garner glanced in Martyn Waghorn's free-kick.

After Jordan Spence was sent off for a foul on Aboubakar Kamara, Ryan Sessegnon pounced on Neeskens Kebano's mis-hit shot to equalise.

Kamara reacted first to a deflection and added another with a solo run, while Tom Cairney set up Sessegnon for his second in between.

Both teams went into the game in mid-table on 36 points and Fulham, who have now won six of their past nine matches, closed the gap on the play-off places to four points and leapfrogged Ipswich into 10th.

The Cottagers, who have not lost at home since a 2-0 defeat by Bristol City on 31 October, had plenty of chances in the first half but were wasteful in front of goal, with Kamara just failing to divert Kebano's cross into an empty net.

However, Spence's first career sending off changed the momentum of the game and the hosts scored four goals in the final 21 minutes to condemn Ipswich to their third defeat in four matches.

Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic told BBC Radio London:
"We played good football, we scored four goals in seven minutes but we could have scored many goals in the first 45 minutes. We created many chances and found no benefit.

"After Ipswich went down to one player less it was even easier for us, but we deserved this. When we played 11 against 11 my team played better. Its been one of the important performances from my team this season.

"After one shot they had the advantage, we don't need that, we need to score first, to concentrate and show the quality."

Ipswich manager Mick McCarthy told BBC Radio Suffolk:
"They are a very good side and move the ball particularly well, but they were getting more frustrated.

"That result would not happen if we had all of our players on the pitch.

"It all got a bit too much for us then and they picked holes in it - and we can't do much to stop it."

Fulham 4-1 Ipswich: Hosts come from behind to run riot as Ryan Sessegnon shines after Jordan Spence sees red

Fulham moved into play-off contention after a comfortable victory over Ipswich
But Slavisa Jokanovic's men had to come from behind after Joe Garner's opener
Youngster Ryan Sessegnon shined in the rout by scoring twice from left back
Aboubakar Kamara also netted a brace as Fulham took all three points at home

Ryan Sessegnon is being linked with Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur this transfer window. Fulham, however, will hope to keep the precocious 17-year-old around for one more play-off push.

Despite playing left back, Fulham's top scorer popped up to score twice as Fulham came from behind to win emphatically, scoring four goals in seven second-half minutes. Aboubakar Kamara netted the other two.

Ipswich were left to rue Jordan Spence's red card, given when they were leading 1-0 through Joe Garner's header.

On paper, the game was the epitome of a mid-table clash - both sides came to Craven Cottage seven points off the play-offs. It was twelfth against eleventh in the Championship.

However Fulham, going for their fourth straight home win, were easily the better side in the first half, dominating the play in monsoon conditions.

From the second minute the rain started falling, and the swirling wind started catching all the long, aerial balls, of which Ipswich produced plenty.

Fulham looked to be making light work of the wintry weather, but in the final minute of the first half, Ipswich landed a sucker punch. Martyn Waghorn finally got a dead ball right, his in-swinging free kick flicked in by Garner.

Then, on 55 minutes, the flash point. Kamara barged Freddie Sears to the floor, for what looked like a foul. However Spence took the law into his own hands, hurling himself into the striker with a full body check. Keith Stroud consulted his assistant; immediately after doing so, he produced a deserved red card.

Ipswich held on for quarter of an hour, yet when Sessegnon made his first intervention, they crumbled.

Sessegnon headed in after Neeskens Kebano contrived to miss an open goal, the winger slicing the ball backwards from a cross when three yards out. The Fulham No 3 showed the positional awareness of a No 9, and was perfectly placed to score.

Kamara slotted in from eight yards to put the hosts ahead, before Sessegnon poked home from close range to seal three points. He was stood at the far post as Tom Cairney slalomed into the box from the right – when the ball broke, the teenager could not miss.

Kamara completed the rout with a deflected effort from 20 yards, but there was no denying who the star of the show was. Sessegnon was replaced with five minutes to go, and got a standing ovation. The Fulham fans are enjoying him while they can.

Fulham 4-1 Ipswich Town - Match Report

Four goals in seven minutes after Town defender Jordan Spence had been red-carded saw Fulham come from behind to beat the Blues 4-1 at Craven Cottage. Joe Garner gave Town the lead a minute before the break but the match turned on Spence's dismissal for an off-the-ball barge on Aboubakar Kamara in the 54th minute with Ryan Sessegnon equalising on 69, Kamara securing the lead on 72 and then the pair each scoring again on 74 and 76.

Cole Skuse and Tommy Smith returned to the Town line-up for Kevin Bru, who dropped to the bench, and Adam Webster, who was ruled out due to the achilles injury which forced him off at the weekend. Skuse, back after his ankle injury, took up his usual role in the Blues midfield.

Centre-half Smith was making his first Town appearance since the 3-1 defeat at Cardiff on October 31st having recovered from the calf injury he suffered while on international duty with New Zealand.

Luke Hyam was included on the bench for the first time this season following the knee operation he underwent in September. Hyam's most recent appearance for Town was at Derby on the final day of the 2015/16 campaign. David McGoldrick was again among the subs.

Adam McDonnell, who has been on the bench in recent matches, missed out as he was unwell.

For Fulham, Ollie Norwood and Kamara started with Tomas Kalas and Kevin McDonald dropping to the bench.

In the opening minute Celina, who initially appeared to be in a central role behind strike pair Garner and Martyn Waghorn before moving to the left of a 4-4-2 system, sent in a Blues freekick from the left which the home defence headed clear.

In windy and rainy conditions, the Cottagers created their first opening a minute later, Ryan Fredericks cutting a low ball across the area from the right but just too far in front of Kamara, scorer of both the West Londoners' goals in their 2-2 draw at Hull City on Saturday. On six, Stefan Johansen shot just over from 25 yards.

Jordan Spence diverted a dangerous Floyd Ayité cross from the right over in the eighth minute with the Whites started to dominate as they did in their 2-0 defeat of the Blues at Portman Road in August.

Bialkowski was forced into his first save of the game in the 12th minute, palming away a Kamara shot from the right of the area. A minute later the Frenchman hit an effort over.

Fulham continued to dominate, although Town pressure led to the home side surrendering possession on the right on 17 but Waghorn was crowded out as he cut into the box.

Three minutes later, Johansen shot wide from not too far outside the area but referee Keith Stroud awarded a corner.

The Fulham pressure continued with Sheyi Ojo hitting a low shot wide from the edge of the box, then Norwood hit a 25-yard freekick over.

With the rain continuing to fall heavily and the swirling wind making high balls and long passes difficult to deal with, Town pressured the Whites into a 28th minute mistake which might have yielded a goal.

Norwood was forced to make a risky pass across his area which Celina read ahead of Denis Odoi but the Kosovan international was unable to get the ball under control in the sodden conditions.

Having withstood the spell under the cosh the Blues started to see more of the ball and just after the half hour Waghorn struck a shot on the turn well over from distance.

Moments later, the former Rangers man was fed in on the left of the box but Tim Ream saw the ball through to his keeper. On 34 Ayité was replaced by Neeskens Kebano.

As the half moved into its final 10 minutes Fulham turned the screw once again and the Cottagers should have scored on 39 when sub Kebano cut the ball back from the left without the outside of his right boot but Kamara was unable to add the final touch at the far post.

A minute before the break the Blues were forced into a change when Ward, who had undergone treatment a couple of times during the half, was replaced by Freddie Sears as Town prepared to take a freekick.

And from the set piece, the Blues took the lead. Waghorn's earlier freekicks had all been hampered by the wind, but on this occasion Town's 10-goal top scorer whipped it in from the right and Garner headed his eighth goal of the season into the net.

Whites keeper Marcus Bettinelli had arrived late and collided with the Town scorer as he nodded home but after treatment was able to continue.

Fulham went looking for an injury time equaliser, Kebano hitting a low shot from outside the box to Bialkowski's right but the Blues keeper saved confidently and they were unable to threaten again before the break and Town went in a goal in front.

Having repelled everything the dominant home side threw at them, occasionally riding their luck, the Blues once again profited from a brilliant Waghorn set piece and Garner header.

Town needed a repeat of that steadfast defensive performance in the second half if they were to open 2018 with a victory.

With the wind and rain having largely subsided, Ojo turned the first shot of the second period well over three minutes after the restart.

Connolly was shown the game's first yellow card a minute later after a foul on home skipper Tom Cairney 25 yards out to the right. Johansen's freekick was hit straight into the wall, then Norwood shot wide.

In the 54th minute the Blues were reduced to 10 men when Spence was shown Town's first red card of the season.

Kamara had shoved Sears over as the pair had battled for a ball which the Whites striker then passed backwards. The Blues right-back then needlessly clattered into the Fulham man, who was sent flying, although appeared to make as much of the incident as he could.

Referee Stroud, who had failed to issue Sheffield Wednesday's Glenn Loovens with a card of either colour for his horror challenge on David McGoldrick last month, took the advice of his linesman before dismissing Spence, who was clearly incensed by the Fulham player's reaction and the decision as he left the field. There was, however, no need for his reaction.

Town quickly swapped Celina for Dominic Iorfa, who went to right-back with Waghorn moving into midfield.

Ream was booked for a foul on Garner, then Kebano was fortunate not to join him for a very late challenge on Connolly inside the Town area.

The Blues had managed to withstand an initial spell of pressure immediately after the sending off, but after a brief lull - in part due to several silly Fulham fouls - the home side began to threaten again.

Lucas Piazon replaced Ojo on 65 then was immediately booked for a dive inside the Town box.

But the home fans, who claimed they had been denied a penalty in that incident, didn't have to wait too much longer for an equaliser.

In the 67th minute Kamara crossed from the left to Kebano, who miscued across goal and Sessegnon nodded home.

Three minutes later it was 2-1. Kebano cut across for Norwood, his shot was blocked but fell to Kamara, who turned in from close range.

And a further two minutes later it was 3-1 to the home side. Johansen worked his way to the byline with clever skills on the right of the area and cut across the six-yard box to Sessegnon, who tapped in his second of the evening at the far post.

And the Fulham goal deluge wasn't over. On 76 Kamara hit a shot from the edge of the box and a deflection wrong-footed Bialkowski.

The Blues had held out for 15 minutes after the red card but then conceded four goals in seven minutes.

The by now buoyant home crowd were calling for a fifth and on 79 Cairney struck a low shot which Bialkowski saved down to his left.

Hyam made his return to action for Connolly, who had undergone treatment for the second time before making way, in the 82nd minute, 19 months after his last first-team appearance.

Knudsen shot wide right-footed when he should have crossed in the 85th minute, then Bialkowski was off his line sharply to block from Kamara after Johansen had played him in. On 88 Sessegnon was replaced by Rafa Soares to a standing ovation.

Late on, Garner was booked for a foul, then Kamara shot wide for the home side. Deep in injury time Waghorn and Kebano were both booked, the former for a foul and the latter for aiming a hand towards the Town striker's neck in retaliation.

Just before the whistle, skipper Chambers frustratedly slammed the ball and was shown a yellow card, summing up the evening as a whole for Town.

Having got their lead the Blues needed to continue their solid defensive performance after the break.

That they had managed to do until Spence's needless and uncharacteristic hot-headed reaction to Kamara's challenge on Sears.

The Blues held out for a quarter of an hour but once the first goal had gone in the floodgates opened with Fulham carving Town apart all too regularly.

A defeat in 2018's opening game sees the Blues drop to 12th, seven points off the play-offs with a break from Championship action for the FA Cup third round tie against Sheffield United at Portman Road on Saturday.

Fulham: Bettinelli, Fredericks, Sessegnon (Soares 88), Odoi, Johansen, Cairney (c), Ayité (Kebano 34), Ream, Norwood, Ojo (Piazon 65), Kamara. Unused: Button, McDonald, Fonte, Kalas.

Town: Bialkowski, Spence, Chambers (c), T Smith, Knudsen, Skuse, Connolly (Hyam 82), Celina (Iorfa 57), Waghorn, Ward (Sears 44), Garner. Unused: M Crowe, McGoldrick, Bru, Kenlock. Referee: Keith Stroud (Hampshire).

Fulham 4-1 Ipswich Town: Player ratings as Ryan Sessegnon and Aboubakar Kamara shine

Ryan Sessegnon and Aboubakar Kamara both got two goals apiece in seven minutes as Fulham came from behind

A brace a piece from Ryan Sessegnon and Aboubakar Kamara ensured Fulham came from 1-0 down to beat Ipswich Town 4-1, with four goals in seven minutes.

Slavisa Jokanovic made two changes to the side that drew 2-2 with Hull City on Saturday, bringing in Oliver Norwood and Kamara for Kevin McDonald and Tomas Kalas.

Kamara had the best chance of the first half when Neeskens Kebano got down the left and put the ball on a plate for the striker in the six-yard box, but he missed it completely and the chance went begging.

Ipswich took the lead, however, when Garner got in front of Marcus Bettinelli to nod home a free kick in the 45th minute, although Jordan Spence saw red for a challenge on Kamara in the second half.

But Fulham got their equaliser when Kamara put a lovely cross into the box, which Kebano somehow mis-kicked back to Sessegnon who nodded home.

And Kamara turned goalscorer to tuck home minutes later as Norwood's striker fell to his feet, while Sessegnon got his second after Cairney slalomed into the box and found him at the back stick.

And AK47 got his second as Fulham tore through once again - this time his strike taking a deflection to beat Bialkowski.

Here's how we rated the side:

Bettinelli 5: Didn't have anything to do in the first half but should've done better with the opener after Garner got in front of the keeper to nod home.

Fredericks 7: Was solid down the right and attacked the Ipswich left back constantly.

Sessegnon 8: Attacked down the left at will thanks to Ipswich allowing Fulham to come onto them. Followed the ball in well to nod home the equaliser. Right place right time for his second.

Odoi 7: Played well at centre back yet again and did what he had to do well.

Johansen 7: Looked better and much more at home in his central midfield role. Got on the ball and drove Fulham forward in the second half.

Cairney 8: Tried to pull string in the midfield but wasn't as influential in the first half. Brilliant piece of skill to slalom his way through the Ipswich defence for the second.

Ayite 5: Didn't really get into the game too much before he was forced off with an injury in the 34th minute.

Ream 7: Was solid in the heart of defence, putting in a number of crunching challenges in the rain.

Norwood 7: Did well in the holding role and cut out a number of attacks, despite some early nerves with a horrid back pass in the first half.

Ojo 6: A constant threat and Fulham's best attacking outlet in the first period but was unable to find a breakthrough before being replaced by Piazon.

Kamara 9: Got himself into some good positions in the box early on in the game. One of his better games where he was a real pain for the defence, not to mention a lovely cross for the equaliser. Took his goal well.

Subs -

Kebano 8: Looked sharp when he came on and set up the best chance of the first half. Did well in the build up to the Fulham goals in the second half.

Piazon 6: Didn't have the impact he would've wanted on the game but it was good to see him get more minutes.

Soares N/A: Not enough time to get a score.

Match report: Fulham 4 Ipswich Town 1 – Silly Spence red card precedes seven minute collapse

Ipswich Town fell apart after Jordan Spence's dismissal early in the second half, conceding four goals in seven disastrous minutes to lose 4-1 at Fulham this evening.

The Blues weathered an early storm in wet and windy conditions and led through Joe Garner's brave header in the final minute of the first half.

Spence's silly act of retribution on Aboubakar Kamara in the 54th minute, a robust off-the-ball barge, left Town with 10 men and a mountain to climb though.

Ryan Sessegnon headed home a 69th minute equaliser to spark what, in cricket terms, was a middle-order collapse of epic proportions. Kamara rammed the hosts in front (72) moments later, Sessegnon tapped home third (74) with Kamara rifling home the fourth (76).

To rub salt in the wounds, the Blues – who drop to 12th in the Championship table and are now seven points adrift of the play-off places – saw Grant Ward limp off with a groin injury to join an already packed treatment room.

Blues boss Mick McCarthy made two changes to the side which lost 2-1 at home to Derby on Saturday. The injured Adam Webster (Achilles) was replaced in defence by Tommy Smith, the latter having made just six starts in the entirety of 2017 following back surgery, while Cole Skuse returned to the team following a three game absence (bruised ankle) at the expense of Kevin Bru.

Meanwhile, it was a surprise to see Luke Hyam on bench, the midfielder having not featured in the first team since the final game of 2015/16 due to a string of injuries.

Direct-running Fulham were the side who took the game by the scuff of the neck, dominating the opening 25 minutes.

Ryan Fredericks and Floyd Ayite produced dangerous low crosses, Stefan Johansen fired just over from the edge of the box, while Bartosz Bialkowski had to make a smart near post stop from powerful striker Kamara.

Callum Connolly and Luke Chambers also made blocks in the box and that was all inside 12 minutes, with the one-way traffic continuing as Johansen, Sheyi Ojo and Oliver Norwood all fired just wide from outside the area.

However, as the weather got worse, Town looked to have ridden the storm and gradually got a foothold in the game, finally beginning to string a few passes together.

That said, there was a huge let-off for the Blues in the 40th minute when Kamara somehow failed to connect with Neeskens Kebano's teasing cross in the middle of the six-yard box.

And there was a further setback in the 44th minute when Ward limped off to be replaced by Freddie Sears as Town's injury curse claimed another victim.

Despair turned to jubilation moments later though after Connolly won a foul down the right. Waghorn whipped in one of his trademark wicked set-piece deliveries and Garner stooped bravely to head home in a crowded box.

It sparked joyous celebrations down by the corner flag as Blues players slipped and slided on the rain-soaked surface.

Town started the second half defending well, but their backs-to-the-wall task was made all the harder with Spence's straight red card in the 54th minute.

Kamara looked to have barged Sears over on the ball but, with no foul given, Spence arrived very late to smash through Kamara in retribution. It was a reckless, stupid act, but Kamara's rolling around on the floor was also pathetic.

McCarthy responded by sacrificing winger Celina for right-back Dominic Iorfa. Moments later, Fulham substitute Lucas Piazon was booked for diving in the box, with replays showing he had gone to ground when nowhere near Iorfa's trailing leg.

The Cottagers' breakthrough came when Kamara's low cross was brilliantly kept alive by Neeskens Kebano at the back post and Sessegnon's header sneaked between Bialkowski and Jonas Knudsen on the line.

They soon led when Kebano's cross was deflected back to the edge of the box and, after Oliver Norwood's shot fell kindly at his feet in the box, Kamara rammed the ball home from close-range to leave Craven Cottage rocking.

Goal three was brilliantly worked, with classy midfielder Tom Cairney feinting twice in the box to tee up Sessegnon for a tap-in.

Then Kamara drifted inside from the left and fired through a crowded box to complete the scoring.

Fulham 4-1 Ipswich: Ryan Sessegnon scores twice in rout

Floyd Ayite gets the better of Jonas Knudsen in commanding Fulham win

An astonishing comeback from Fulham saw them score four goals in seven minutes to defeat 10-man Ipswich 4-1.

Fulham manager Slavisa Jokanovic gave a start to Aboubakar Kamara who came off the bench to score twice at Hull and he was again on target with a brace against Ipswich.

Fulham started well and Ryan Fredericks crossed low across the Ipswich goal after two minutes, but Kamara failed to connect to the delivery.

The home side were in the ascendancy, and Ipswich goalkeeper Bartosz Bialkowski had to get down low to save a tight-angled shot from Kamara with 12 minutes gone.

Ipswich offered little, and they were tested again when Oliver Norwood fired a free-kick from 25 yards just over the crossbar after 24 minutes.

With the rain at Craven Cottage resulting in a slick surface, the visitors had their first half-chance after 33 minutes when Martyn Waghorn collected a cross and turned, only to blast his effort well over the crossbar.

Fulham were forced into an early change 10 minutes before the break when Floyd Ayite limped off, to be replaced by Neeskens Kebano.

Kamara once again just failed to get onto a testing delivery into the box after Kebano created the chance.

Ipswich were forced into a substitution just before the break when Grant Ward was replaced by Freddie Sears.

The visitors took the lead totally against the run of play right on half-time when Joe Garner netted for the second game in a row after heading home a Waghorn free-kick.

Fulham came out in the second half on the front foot and were given an advantage when Jordan Spence was red-carded with 54 minutes gone after barging into Kamara off the ball.

The game was turned on its head in the most dramatic of fashions in less than 10 minutes with the hosts running rampant against the Ipswich defence.

With 21 minutes remaining a lucky miscue off Kebano fell into the path of Ryan Sessegnon who fired home from close range.

Three minutes later Kamara gave Fulham the lead after a deflection fell kindly to him in the box.

The turnaround was completed after 74 minutes when Sessegnon slotted home a cross into the box, before Kamara added a second with a solo run into the area two minutes later.

Fulham boss praises players but bemoans missed chances

Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic praised his players after they came from behind to beat 10-man Ipswich.

After Jordan Spence was sent off, Fulham scored four goals in seven second-half minutes, with Aboubakar Kamara and Ryan Sessegnon both netting twice.

"We missed so many chances. We need to be more concentrated and show more quality in this kind of situation because, after playing so brilliantly, being 1-0 down at half-time is strange.

"We don't need this kind of comeback – we need to score the (first) goal. But I must be satisfied. It was probably one of the best performances of the season from my team."

Kamara's brace took his goal tally to four in two matches.

Fulham 4-1 Ipswich Town: Everything Slavisa Jokanovic said in his post-match press conference

Here's everything Slavisa Jokanovic said in his post match press conference after the 4-1 victory over Ipswich

Was that the Fulham way today?
"We played very good today in the football game. It's so difficult, we created so many chances in one half, like we created in the first half and at the end of this period they score the goal.

"We missed so many chances and we need to be more concentrated and show more quality because after we played 45 brilliant minutes and going in 1-0 down is strange and unacceptable.

"We don't need this kind of comeback like we played today, we need to score the goal and score first before the opposite team.

"For another side I must be satisfied, this was one of the best performances this season for my team, we play very well, we move the ball and we find the benefit where Ipswich had one player less.

"When we played 11 vs 11 I believe my team played better football than Ipswich played and then we deserved these three points and I must be satisfied and look ahead of us and prepare my team for everything what will happen."

Had that situation before?
"We didn't score six in 50 minutes and after scoring several before, we can score after this seven minutes and my team is working very hard to score the goal but we didn't find a clear way.

"We must be satisfied that we scored some quality goal with Ryan Sessegnon who was twice in the right position from very far position and there is some opinion that he can be better at left winger or left back, I like him in both positions.

"Sometimes I like to use him like winger but I cannot use him, for another side Kamara made great effort and is fighting very well - he scored two goals and missed some more and we must be satisfied with his goal ratio over the last two games, he scored four goals and this is good news for him and for us."

Sessegnon seems to have a talent for being in the right place at the right time?
"In all the press conferences I must speak about Ryan Sessegnon.

"Yes, Sessegnon is probably the most talented player in this country and this age, his natural physical preparation is amazing and he doesn't have problems for arriving in the box from a far position and at the end, we have opportunity to observe the beginning of one brilliant football career because, for myself, it will be very strange if this player doesn't play in the English national team."

Will you hold onto him?
"I don't know if this interesting thing about this player, I can help so much but this kid and the people around him are clever enough, after 50 odd games, he's in a very good situation and we are going to see what people around him and what Fulham will decide.

"Between us, I don't have any information that we want to sell him and for another side I don't want to sell him, I have no intention.

"What I try explain, it's not in my decision, Fulham don't want to sell him, he doesn't say any words and at the end I;m thinking of him in the future for the season what is ahead of us, and for next season too."

Fulham don't have any plans to sell Tottenham and Manchester United target Ryan Sessegnon

The 17-year-old bagged another brace as Fulham beat Ipswich Town 4-1 at the Cottage

Slavisa Jokanovic has said that Fulham have no plans to sell Ryan Sessegnon after he bagged another brace as the Cottagers beat Ipswich Town 4-1.

Sessegnon got his third goal in three games as the Whites scored three goals in seven minutes against Ipswich after the away side had taken the lead at the Cottage.

Rumours are aplenty about the 17-year-old's future, but Jokanovic has said that he has no information that Fulham wish to sell the wonderkid and he hopes he'll be part of his squad for the rest of this season, and next season too.

He said: "In all the press conferences I must speak about Ryan Sessegnon.

Kamara and Sessegnon star as Fulham run riot
by Dan on January 3, 2018

The improving Aboubakar Kamara and the ever-impressive Ryan Sessegnon shared four goals in seven minutes as Fulham roared back from a goal down to establish their Championship promotion credentials with what become a comfortable win over Ipswich Town at Craven Cottage. That the Whites owed their recovery largely to a moment of madness from defender Jordan Spence – sent off for a senseless lunge at Kamara when the Tractor Boys were a goal to the good – only served to irritate a disgruntled Mick McCarthy.

The Ipswich manager was left flabbergasted by his side's collapse following Spence's dismissal as the visitors conceded four goals in the space of seven second half minutes that extended their miserable run away from home to one win in 27 matches. Fulham's fluent football certainly put their opponents under severe pressure, especially when they were reduced to ten men, but it was still a surprise to see Town swept aside in what seemed like the blink of an eye. Ipswich had absorbed a torrent of home pressure before the break – and went ahead through Joe Garner's instinctive header on the stroke of half time.

Indeed, the first half was a microcosm of Fulham's frustrating season. Slavisa Jokanovic's side totally dominated proceedings from the outset, attacking with the sort of vigour that was badly missing from their start at Hull on Saturday. Ryan Fredericks' devilish low cross narrowly eluded Kamara in the middle before Stefan Johansen drove over from range with just five minutes played. Spence steered a Floyd Ayite cross away from danger before Bartosz Bialkowski pushed away a powerful Kamara drive at his near post and the lively French forward fired over the bar just moments later.

It seemed like only a matter of time before Fulham broke the deadlock, with the returning Ollie Norwood striking a swerving free-kick only narrowly over and Sheyi Ojo also just missing the target with an effort from outside the box. But Ipswich gradually grew into the contest, with Bersant Celina almost capitalising on a calamitous square ball across his own box by Ollie Norwod, and Martyn Waghorn shooting wastefully over from long range.

Fulham served further notice of their threat up front when Neeskens Kebano, introduced as a substitute for the injured Ayite, sped down the left and produced an inviting cross that Kamara somehow failed to turn in from three yards out at the back post. Jokanovic's side paid the harshest penalty when an off-colour Johansen conceded a needless free-kick tight to the touchline on the left wing and Waghorn's whipped ball in caused chaos in the box with Marcus Bettinelli colliding with Garner, who headed the visitors into a scarcely believable lead.

The hosts, who almost conjured an immediate equaliser when Kebano's snapshot was well held by Bialkowski, become the second half in a similar vein. Liverpool loanee Ojo fired into the Hammersmith End from a promising position before Norwood sent a speculative effort wide. Then came the moment that changed the game. Ipswich felt that Kamara should have been penalised for a roubust challenge on Freddie Sears in front of the dugouts, but a furious Spence took matters in his own hands, clattering into Kamara in his personal act of retribution. Keith Stroud consulted with his assistant before dismissing the Ipswich defender – and Fulham soon made their numerical advantage tell.

After Lucas Piazon had been astonishingly booked for simulation when he appeared to have been clipped in the box, the home side launched a wave of attacks on the Ipswich goal. Sessegnon started and finished the move, sprinting into space from left back and freeing Kamara inside the box. The French forward's low cross was miscued from a matter of yards out by Kebano, but Sessegnon was on hand to head home from close range.

Three minutes later, Fulham went in front. A clever pass from Cairney sent Kebano scampering down the right side of the area and the winger cut the ball back perfectly for Norwood, whose low shot rattled against the legs of both and Ipswich defender and Kamara. The Frenchman reacted quickest and fired home clinically from five yards before treating the home fans to both somersault and a gun salute in joyous celebrations.

The home side now looked like they could score at will. That they did two minutes later was largely down to the fleet footedness of Cairney, with the captain producing both a brilliant bit of skill and mesmerising close control to bamboozle Luke Chambers and Tommy Smith before carrying the ball along the byline and sending a low cross along the goal-line to present Sessegnon with the simplest of finishes from a yard out.

The Fulham goal glut wasn't complete until the 76th minute when Kamara, full of confidence by this point, darted into the box and worked some space on his right foot before striking a rising shot that looped beyond a horribly wrongfooted Bialkowski after a wicked deflection off Chambers. The home fans roared for a fifth which almost arrived when Cairney's low drive was well held by the visiting keeper down to his left.

This victory closed the gap to the play-off places to just four points and felt critical given how the Whites had fallen beaten at the end of the first half. It will certainly give Jokanovic's side a further injection of confidence as they prepare for the visit of Premier League Southampton in the FA Cup on Saturday.

Jokanovic: 'One of Fulham's best performances'
by Dan on January 3, 2018

Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic suggested that his side's comeback to beat Ipswich Town tonight ranked as one of the club's best performances in his time at Craven Cottage.

The Serbian head coach was delighted after the Whites cut the gap to the Championship play-offs to just four points with four goals in seven minutes to totally overwhelm the Tractor Boys. The visitors had took the lead through Joe Garner's header on the stroke of half time but crumbled in the second period after Jordan Spence saw red for a disgraceful lunge at Aboubakar Kamara.

Jokanovic told his post-match press conference:

It's probably one of the best performances from my team. We played very well, we moved the ball, and we were able to find some benefits when Ipswich had to play with one player less. Even when it was 11 versus 11 I believe my team played better. We deserved these three points.

We played a very good game of football today. We created more chances in that period of the second half than we did during the entire first 45 minutes. It's great when my team works very hard to score the goals. We scored some quality goals.

The Fulham boss, ever the perfectionist, did chastise his side for not taking their chances in the first 45 minutes – a situation that led to Ipswich taking the lead when Garner punished some slack marking to glance home an excellent free-kick from Martyn Waghorn.

We need to concentrate more in this kind of situation, because after playing a brilliant half in the first 45 minutes to go into half-time 1-0 down is strange. We don't need this kind of comeback like the one we played today. We need to score and to score first, before the opposition team.

Jokanovic was full of praise for the men who shared the four second half goals between them, academy graduate Ryan Sessegnon and the irrepressible Kamara.

Ryan Sessegnon was twice in the right position. Ryan is probably the most talented player in this country at his age. His natural physical preparation is amazing. We have the opportunity to observe the beginning of one brilliant football career.

Aboubakar Kamara made a great effort and he's fighting very well. We must be satisfied with his contribution over the last two games—he scored four goals. That's good news for him, and good news for us too.

Fulham don't plan to sell Ryan Sessegnon, says Jokanovic
by Dan on January 3, 2018

Fulham head coach Slavisa Jokanovic insisted his club have no plans to part with teenage sensation Ryan Sessegnon during the January transfer window after the 17 year-old scored twice against Ipswich.

The England youth international notched up three goals in his last three league games and inspired a vital second half comeback as Fulham moved to within four points of the Championship's top six with an impressive win. The club's Serbian head coach couldn't hide his irritation at being asked about Sessegnon's transfer status during his post-match press conference, but chose to praise the Fulham academy graduate's phenomenal development.

In all the press conferences I must speak about Ryan Sessegnon. Yes, Sessegnon is probably the most talented player in this country and this age, his natural physical preparation is amazing and he doesn't have problems for arriving in the box from a far position and at the end, we have opportunity to observe the beginning of one brilliant football career because, for myself, it will be very strange if this player doesn't play in the English national team.

Jokanovic was also adamnt that Fulham are not seeking to sell their most prized asset.

Between us, I don't have any information that we want to sell him and for another side I don't want to sell him, I have no intention. Fulham don't want to sell him, he doesn't say any words and at the end I;m thinking of him in the future for the season what is ahead of us, and for next season too.

Fulham boss provides transfer update on Ryan Sessegnon amid Spurs and Manchester United interest

The youngster is attracting interest from a number of big clubs

Fulham manager Slavisa Jokanovic has insisted that the club have no plans to cash in on Ryan Sessegnon during the transfer window.

Linked with a move to Spurs and Manchester United, rumours of the highly-rated talent moving on will no doubt intensify in the coming weeks after playing another starring role in his side's 4-1 win over Ipswich Town last night.

After netting a brace in the win at Craven Cottage, the 17-year-old has now scored three goals in his last three games as his side close in on the Championship play-offs.

Sessegnon will undoubtedly soon be playing in the Premier League, yet Jokanovic has said that the Cottagers aren't planning to sell their prize asset this month despite the interest.

"In all the press conferences I must speak about Ryan Sessegnon," the manager said after his side's win.
