West Ham interested in Fulham's Cairney

West Ham have made an enquiry about Fulham's Tom Cairney.

West Bromwich Albion recently also expressed an interest in the Scotland international, but Fulham have so far received no formal bids.

Having missed the early part of the season with a knee problem, Cairney has made 18 appearances for the Whites this term, scoring one goal.

Cairney, 27, was signed by Fulham from Blackburn in the summer of 2015.

Meanwhile, Fulham have had a bid for Oliver Norwood turned down by Brighton.

Report: West Ham United interested in Fulham's Tom Cairney

Fulham's Tom Cairney is reportedly wanted by West Ham United, Newcastle United and West Bromwich Albion in the January transfer window.

West Ham United are interested in signing Tom Cairney from Fulham in the January transfer window, according to Sky Sports.

It has been reported that West Ham are ready to pay £15 million as transfer fee for the 27-year-old midfielder.

Fulham, who are playing in the Championship at the moment, do not want to sell the Scotland international this month, according to the report.

According to Sky Sports, Fulham signed Cairney from Blackburn Rovers in the summer of 2015 for £3m.

West Ham are not the only club who are reported to be interested in the former Hull City star, though.

According to The Northern Echo, West Ham's Premier League rivals, Newcastle United and West Bromwich Albion, are interested in securing the series of Cairney this month as well.

Both Newcastle and West Brom need to enhance the quality of their respective midfield for the second half of the season, and Cairney would be a good signing for either club.

With the Hammers reportedly open to spending as much as £15m for Cairney, it remains to be seen if the Magpies or the Baggies will be willing to match that offer.

West Ham are interested in Fulham midfielder Tom Cairney who is rated at £15million.

The Fulham captain has also attracted interest from West Bromwich Albion, though it's understood a bid has yet to go in.

The Scot has been a stalwart in the Cottagers' midfield since his move from Blackburn back in 2015.

Cairney made his debut for Scotland last year, starting in a 1–1 draw against Canada, after having played at age-group level.

He has played 18 times for the Championship club this season, scoring one goal.

The Irons are yet to invest in this transfer market and Fulham hope their skipper will not become David Moyes' first purchase this year.

They face stiff competition from West Brom to land the Scotland international, however

Brighton midfielder could still make permanent Fulham switch

Brighton midfielder Oliver Norwood could still join Fulham permanently before the end of the transfer window.

The 26-year-old has been on loan at the Cottagers this season, scoring five goals in 27 matches.

Albion boss Chris Hughton was asked yesterday if Norwood would make a permanent move to Fulham this month and said: "I don't know. He has gone there, played games and they're on a good run at the moment. "Any enthusiasm for something to happen, if it's right for both parties and Ollie himself, who's very happy there and playing games, then possibly something will be done. "But at this moment, he's still our player of course and we're delighted he's playing regular games and playing in a team that's doing well."

West Ham to raid London rivals, £15m fee needed – Sky Sports

West Ham United have declared an interest in Fulham midfielder Tom Cairney and want to raid their London rivals for the Craven Cottage outfit's captain this month, according to Sky Sports.

The Hammers are down to their bare bones, with David Moyes have a considerable injury list to deal with in coming weeks and months.

As such, West Ham are expected to land a couple of new signings before the January transfer window closes on Wednesday night, with Cairney the latest reported signing.

Sky Sports claim that the Irons are yet to bid for the Scotland international, but it would take an offer of around £15 million for the London Stadium side to land their man.

West Ham could use creativity and energy in the centre of midfield and Cairney could well be a shrewd acquisition in that regard.

The 27-year-old has a knack of scoring important goals for Fulham and West Ham clearly feel that he is ready for the move up to the Premier League.

The Hammers are adding Joao Mario to their ranks this month on a loan deal and as such the club's midfield could well have a different feel to it once the window closes.

Any West Ham move for Cairney will remind the Irons faithful of the addition of the midfielder's compatriot Robert Snodgrass, who moved to the club 12 months ago but struggled to make an immediate impact.
