Let's look at Villa's winning run:

Villa 3-2 Burton. Expected goals 1,4 vs 1,3
Sheff Utd 0-1 Villa. Expected goals 1,1 vs 0,8
Villa 3-1 Barnsley. Expected goals 1,6 vs 1,9 (!)
Forest 0-1 Villa. Expected goals 0,5 vs 0,7
Villa 5-0 Bristol City. Expected goals 1,8 vs 0,2
Middlesbrough 0-1 Villa. Expected goals 1,4 vs 1,0

If our winning streak has been "unconvincing", then Villa's has been outright lucky.
And Wolves at home is definitely 0 points in the bag, we're cursed against them. Probably a 0-4 loss.

Agree - thank god Steve Bull is not playing!

For every negative there has to be a positive, a lot is being made of the next few games (unnecessarily so I feel) but getting the tougher looking games out of the way now leads to one big plus !
Our run in !
Take a look at our last 7 games (April and May) it's a run in to dream of (on paper at least) not a single game to fear, if we've got a play off chance on April 1st then it would take a Devon Loch style cock up for us to fail to make them,
So I'll turn the question round to you, "How many points can we realistically achieve in our last 7 games ? "
The answer should raise spirits for some.

I'm in 2 minds whether to go to the wolves game at home. Not only have I never seen the team win against them since relegation, but I watched stearman play like a god against us and a donkey for us. Also KMac had his worst match v Wolves at home last year as did Fred

Yes,a few tough games ahead which could stop us in a good run of games.

Bolton on Saturday looks like three points waiting to be taken, lets make sure right now that we forget about the other games and make sure there is a full focus on Bolton until after 5pm on Saturday.

Unfortunately I will be away in Dubai so I will miss what should be a cracker.

I'll play.

Bolton      WIN        3 points
Villa.        WIN.        3 points
B City.      DRAW.     1 point
Wolves.    DRAW.      1 point

11 points is a good return all things considered. 4 from the derby/sheff utd/ PNE games and we push on to a weaker run of games.

It's not just those though.. after those matches we still have derby,  Sheffield utd and Preston all of whom are fighting for a promotion spot apart from Bolton.

Out of our next 7 games we play

Bolton 20th
Villa 3rd
Bristol City 6th
Wolves 1st
Derby 2nd
Sheffield utd 8th

And Preston 7th

So the only team in top eight we don't play is Cardiff.

On a form basis

Villa are top
Wolves are next in 5th
Derby are 6th
Preston 7th
Bolton are actually 9th on form
Sheffield utd are 17th
Bristol City are 19th

Whatever way you look at it, bearing in mind we're 2nd in form table it'll will be a tricky and decisive period for us.

As I said above on paper we have a really nice looking final 7 games, certainly a run in that we can't  complain about, we might drop points over these next 7 or 8 games but they won't end our season.

Very please to report. We're doing o ####ING k.

Better than I expected. (Admittedly being mostly pessimist, doesn't the a lot)  but also better than most other people expect.
