Yellow Cards' Position

What's happening to players' accumulated yellow cards and possible impact on availability for play off games if certain number of yellow cards are reached? Mc Donald and Johansen have got a few, any danger on them missing out? If so, do we manage that by resting them or telling them to keep out of trouble (assuming that Cardiff don't cave in, meaning that play offs are a certainty rather than an automatic promotion place)? Or do they quickly pick up a few more yellows, get a suspension and restart with a clean sheet before the play offs?

Wasn't that Johansen's 10th yellow? Is he not going to be subject to a 2 match ban or was there an amnesty?

They are both on 10 yellow cards and if they were to get up to 15 before the end of the season I believe it is a 3 game ban. From what I can tell "the end of the season" includes the play-offs. So we certainly don't want either getting up to 14 cards before the play-offs and being at risk of missing out.

That is good news because McDonald and Johansen as if they are going to get a card a game right now, if they are in the clear on yellows they had best be on the look out for reds. Essential we go into the play offs with a full squad.

incl the pre-final playoffs, that's 8 games to collect 5 yellows. That'd be going some!

Seems as if best policy now is to play Norwood (and anyone else in midfield-Kalas as a holding midfielder?) more to give Johanssen and McDonald a/ some rest and b/less playing time to pick up yellows (Norwood etc can pick up the yellows)...also gives Norwood (etc) playing time to ensure match fitness in case they are needed in the play offs.

But Norwood is just not as good as stefjo or kmac. And I really dont think that either of the latter will pick up 5 cards in max 8 games.

Seems as if best policy would be not to send the message to the players that we are throwing the towel in now we are within 5 points of 2nd place with Cardiff about to play Wolves, Villa and Derby through dropping our key CMs for an out of form Norwood and a CB in Kalas.

IF we tail off and/or Cardiff pick up enough points to realistically put 2nd out of reach then i'd play Edun and/ or O'Riley for the last regular games rather than Norwood to give them some game time / development experience, but NOT while we're still in the hunt for 2nd.
