Some transport info for Evian for those interested.  Trains from Geneva Airport do not go directly to Evian.  You have to make your way to Genève Eaux Vives and change at Annemasse. It is complicated.  18 months from now there will be a new train service enabling a single change at Genève Cornavin (the main station in Geneva), but a little bit late for this excursion methinks! 

Car hire is an option but, be warned, it is expensive! Also cars hired on the Swiss side at Geneva airport are not all able to be taken over the border into France - you need to check the conditions carefully, especially if you are booking through a broker like Holiday Autos.  Renting French side of the airport is an option to avoid this problem, but access to the airport is more complicated and you need to watch out for the absence of a 'vignette' (the Tax sticker for Swiss motorways). They cost 40 Swiss francs if you find yourself getting checked accessing a Swiss motorway.

As mentioned already on this thread, you can get a train to Lausanne and then a ferry boat across the lake to Evian. A nice tourist choice!

Yes - EasyJet flights can be very reasonable, but you need to take the rest into account. Happy to answer any questions as I travel regularly to Geneva/France.

For the sake of completeness, here is a link to the bus timetable and tarifs for trains from Geneva, Gare Routière, to Evian.  You will need to get the train from the Airport to Genève Cornavin and Apple Maps shows it as an 8 minute walk to the bus station (Gare Routiere).
