NFR: John Lewis/Waitrose ad on tv

Just seen the new Waitrose and John Lewis ad using Queens Bohemian Rhapsody.
Just brilliant!
Should have been their Christmas ad.
There have been some great ads over the years.
Loved the Hamlet ones but there have been some fantastic ones over the years.

It took up the entire ad break and was phenomenal! I am trying to imagine the creative team at the agency trying to explain it to the client with story boards  - couldn't take my eyes off it!

Don't understand the meaning of it. They've rebranded to include "&a partners" to emphasise the importance the employees play in what they do, but on the same day they announce they're cutting 250 of those jobs. Would be a great ad well executed if done any other time, but it looks as if rebranding and jazzy ad produced to mask bad news .

Then again, neither shop has stepped foot in Ireland , north or south, so I only know the company as a posh advert maker

The advert was fine but what a shame it was for Waitrose and John Lewis. I mean what has that to do with school over the top concerts, I have missed the point haven't I?

The advert has obviously had an effect, we're talking about it on here.
I Can't remember an advert that had that effect.
Therefore, whether you like it or not it's great marketing

There has been a sign up in Newton Abbot for three weeks advising chrismas trees. I once had a letter printed in the local press 'now its August isn't it time the chrismas lights were up in Guildford High Street? Signed Humbug, Dunsfold'
