Tony Khan: Fulham vice-chairman promises investment but argues with fan on Twitter

Fulham vice-chairman Tony Khan told a critical supporter who had urged him to leave the club to "go to hell".

Khan, 36, tweeted fans after Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Burnley, which left his side 19th in the Premier League, five points adrift of safety.

In a succession of messages he promised "multiple signings" in January but one fan replied: "Leave my club please."

Khan, the son of Fulham owner Shahid Khan, responded: "Never. I'll die at this club. Go to hell."

In explaining his response, Khan claimed the Twitter user telling him to leave had been critical in the past, including shortly after Fulham won promotion to the Premier League via the Championship play-offs in May.

The fan quickly denied he had been in touch after promotion and in turn said he was frustrated by the fact Khan splits his time with other roles at NFL franchise Jacksonville Jaguars and as president of All Elite Wrestling.

Signings promised as Khan calls for fight
Khan's online exchange began with him reacting to a defeat at Burnley in which the home side failed to register a shot on target yet ran out 2-1 winners courtesy of two own goals.

He wrote: "To the squad, staff and supporters, some people are waving the white flag and saying we should surrender. People said the same when we were six and four points behind during the past two seasons. We closed the gap both times.

"We can close this gap. It's on our players now to fight, finish and win.

"Our squad has great moments but they've shown their abilities more often than they've gotten the points we need.

"As with last January we'll make multiple signings to improve the squad."

Following their promotion, Fulham spent around £100m on players including midfielder Jean Michael Seri, striker Aleksandar Mitrovic and defender Alfie Mawson during the summer transfer window.

But they have won just three of their 22 league games this season and have one win in their last 10 matches in all competitions.

Fulham said to have agreement to sign attacker, announcement expected Tuesday

Bein Sports Turkey commentator Rasit Altun claim Fulham have agreed to sign former Liverpool winger Ryan Babel from Besiktas.

The Dutch international, who has stalled contract talks with Besiktas since the start of the season also shared an Instagram post which has fueled speculation even further.

Babel is said to be a target for Arabic clubs according to recent claims from the Turkish media but according to the latest reports he’s set to join Fulham.

Altun said, speaking to Bein Sports Turkey: “Ryan Babel will join Fulham. Besiktas will receive between €1.5-1.8m from the sale of the player who will be a free agent at the end of the season. The transfer will be announced on Tuesday.”

TRT Spor’s Besiktas journalist Firat Gunayer also stated Babel has agreed personal terms with Fulham and the two clubs are also very close to reaching an agreement over the transfer.

Babel left the Premier League back in the middle of 2010/11 season when he was playing for Liverpool. The player arrived at Anfield with a big reputation but failed to deliver during his time in England.

The Dutch winger has made 19 appearances for Besiktas this season, scoring six goals.

Babel’s Insragram post shows an eagle flying, his club are known as the eagles.

He played over 140 times for the Reds between 2007 and 2011 before moving to Bundsliga side Hoffenheim.

The Netherlands international then returned to Ajax before playing for Turkish side Kasimpasa, UAE side Al Ain and Deportivo La Coruna.

Claudio Ranieri will be hoping Babel can add some firepower to an attack that only three other Premier League sides have scored more than.

Ranieri's side lost 2-1 to relegation rivals Burnley on Saturday despite taking the lead through Andre Schurrle.
