I went to Southampton on Wednesday night and was talking to family before kick off that are Southampton supporters and we were talking about goalkeepers, talk about an embarrassment of riches compared to us,
Here are their three keepers,
1st choice, Angus Gunn,
2nd choice , Alex McCarthy,
3rd choice , Fraser Forster,
Or put another way, their 3rd choice keeper, who doesn't even have to bother changing out of his jeans and tee shirt, is better than our 1st choice keeper,
So much to do this summer and so little time !
Noticed today also that Jack Butland is playing in The Championship for Stoke City,  surely a better keeper than any we have in The Premier League,  no wonder we've struggled 😣

Forster used to be a good goalkeeper - not so sure about this any more.

He made lots of mistakes last year, until Hughes (I think it was Hughes, but I may be wrong) decided that he had seen enough and gave a chance to McCarthy. In the summer, they felt that Forster was so "better than Fulham's keepers" that they spent £10m to get Gunn, so that they won't have Forster not even on the bench any more.

The Rational Fan

The Southampton squad costs 30% more in transfer fees and 40%-60% more in wages that FFC, plus they have had one of the best youth academy. Of course, they should be much better than usz
