Does anyone know, what the worst start to a fulham mangers career, either as a full time appointment or as a caretaker is. For the life of me I can't recall one losing their first 3 games, let alone a let's be honest (And hopefully , because I hate liverpool) nailed on 4th defeat.

Didn't Roy lose his first three games? Or was that league games only?

There is only 4 games difference between our won and lost totals for all time.
Won    1701
Lost     1697
Drawn  1158

Overall win rate of 37%

Not sure when the cut off for these stats was and how many games SJ was away from the sack. Ranieri will have boosted the 'loss' column, we may now be 'in deficit'

SP will be on his way to a record at the end of the season, played 10 and lost 10, won't blame him at all if it happens though! Scott just look ahead and bring in some kids otherwise you will not get my vote for manager next season!

just checked he did lose first 3 games in league but was broken up with draws in the cup. Got a point in fourth league game

Don't think we will be balancing that ledger this season.

Worst Managers Fulham Four (<22.5% win rate) are:

  • Sir Bobby Robson (WC Semi-Final, won Eredivisie and European Manager of 1996–97) admired by Jose Mourino, Pep and Ferguson
  • Claudio Raneri (won Premier League, Copa del Rey, European Coach of the Season and FIFA Football Coach of the Year)
  • Felix Magath (won Bunderliga with two different clubs and won German Manager of the Year three times)
  • Lawrie Sanchez (failed elsewhere - what happened seems unworthy of being a failed Fulham Manager)

Lol, Sanchez clearly the odd one out.

Sanchez came to us on the back of some good performances from Northern Ireland so at the time he was looked upon as an inform manager.

Amazing how these world class managers failed badly at Fulham. Just another example of Fulhamish I guess.

Well, both Ranieri and Magath came to a club on a rapid downhill path. So part of the explanation is probably that they inherited a team in disarray and lacking all sorts of confidence. It is not an easy task to turn such a situation around I would guess. However, both of them seemed to make the team even worse, which is an accomplishment in itself given how bad the situation already was.

Magath had been unemployed the previous 18 months after being sacked at Wolfsburg, they struggled the season before , and had been on a long streak without winning before they sacked him mid season.

Ranieri had a mid table finish at Nantes as well as a disaster reign at Greece in between his Leicester spell

Despite basically David Healy playing out of his skin, NI didn't qualify for any tournaments under Sanchez's reign, and his previous job was at Wycombe.

The managerial record can't always be traced back to the manager. Lack of recruitment, level of change at the time, level of investment, and the logic of the appointment all need to be looked into before calling a manager a failure.

SP was handed a poison chalice by his predecessor.  He has started on a hiding to nothing which is not his fault. I hope he continues and gets things back on track next season.
