West Ham should target Schurrle this summer when Fulham loan ends a year early

Andre Schurrle is set to return to Borussia Dortmund this summer after the early conclusion of his two-year loan deal due to the Cottagers' relegation.

Andre Schurrle's two-year loan spell with Fulham is set to end a season early following the Cottagers' relegation, according to the Sun.

They report that the Whites insisted on putting a severance clause in the loan deal that took the German World Cup winner to Craven Cottage from Borussia Dortmund in order to avoid being lumbered with his bumper wages in the Championship.

Schurrle has had an inconsistent season, as the manager who brought him to the club – Slavisa Jokanovic – was sacked early and replaced by the far more pragmatic Claudio Ranieri.

But he clearly still has something to offer in the top flight, and there should be Premier League clubs looking to engineer a swift return to England for Schurrle.

And West Ham need further creative influence, with Marko Arnautovic unsettled and underperforming, and the likes of Lucas Perez and Andy Carroll looking set to leave.

Schurrle is the kind of versatile forward the Hammers need as they continue to bring through a more attractive style of play and he would be another senior player with a winning mentality that could help the squad.

He is most comfortable operating out wide – and in the absence of Andriy Yarmolenko, would be a good option out on the right – but can play as a striker, which is exactly what the Hammers need, and another loan deal could suit all parties.

Report: West Ham keen on Aleksandar Mitrovic following Fulham relegatio

West Ham are reportedly interested in Fulham attacker Aleksandar Mitrovic following his side's relegation from the Premier League.

According to the Mirror, there could be a mass exodus of star players at Craven Cottage during the summer following relegation in the top flight.

It is understood that Fulham expect some elite names to push for the exit doors and Mitrovic is expected to have suitors from the Premier League.

The report details that West Ham are keen on snapping up the centre-forward from their London rivals, who cost them £22million last summer.

TBR's View:

Mitrovic is exactly the type of potential signing that should get West Ham fans excited, as he could help solve they limitations in their frontline and be a key player.

The 24-year-old would be an upgrade on the current options in Manuel Pellegrini's squad and could be a real long-term solution in attack at the London Stadium.

He is a powerhouse Serbia international that offers a major physical presence and has proven he can cut it in the Premier League.

Mitrovic has scored 10 goals in 34 games across all competitions for a struggling Fulham team and is a brilliant target man that can link up play.

West Ham should try get their first in the summer for Mitrovic's signature and look to make him a marquee addition.

Played 31, lost 31: Premier League's gulf in class revealed with bottom three of Huddersfield, Fulham and Cardiff losing EVERY game they've played against the top six this season

Cardiff suffered their 10th defeat against a top-six side on Wednesday evening
Result means the bottom three have now lost every game against the top six
Huddersfield, Fulham and Cardiff have conceded 91 and scored 17 in 31 games
The Bluebirds are battling for survival but the other two sides are already dow

The difference in quality between Premier League teams battling relegation and those challenging towards the top of the table has been laid bare in a shocking new statistic.

After Cardiff's 2-0 defeat by reigning champions Manchester City on Wednesday night, the division's bottom three sides have now lost every game they've played against the top six this season.

Fulham and Huddersfield, who have both been relegated already, have played 21 games against City, Liverpool, Tottenham, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United between them without picking up so much as a point.

Add on the 10 defeats against the top six that the Bluebirds have suffered and that's 31 matches and 31 defeats for the top-flight's bottom three.

Many of the results between the sides have been comprehensive, with Cardiff conceding five at home to both United and City, and Fulham being hit for the same amount during a loss to Arsenal at Craven Cottage.

Fulham also suffered 4-1 defeats at the Emirates Stadium and Old Trafford, while Huddersfield were beaten 6-1 by City at the Etihad and 5-0 by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Those results have contributed to another unflattering stat, with the bottom three having scored just 17 but conceded 91 in 31 games against the top six.

However, there have been 10 occasions when one of the current bottom three have been beaten by just a single goal when facing a top-six side.

Fulham are following Huddersfield to the Championship but Cardiff are fighting for survival

Cardiff were dramatically beaten 3-2 at home by Arsenal, with Neil Warnock's men also narrowly losing out to the Gunners away from home.

Fulham gave each of Tottenham, Chelsea and Liverpool a game at Craven Cottage, but eventually lost each match 2-1.

Huddersfield were defeated 1-0 by both Liverpool and Arsenal last year before pushing Unai Emery's men all the way in a 2-1 reverse in February.

Kilmarnock boss Steve Clarke claims he'll decide his future in the summer amid Fulham speculation

Clarke previously turned down an approach from Fulham.

The Kilmarnock manager, Steve Clarke, has claimed he will make a decision about his future this summer amid speculation linking him with the vacancy at Fulham.

The Express reported last month that Fulham had sounded out Clarke about succeeding Claudio Ranieri.

The Cottagers have since placed Scott Parker in temporary charge, but could seek a permanent appointment at the end of the campaign.

And Clarke, it seems, would be open to an approach from the Championship-bound Londoners.

"I feel unfulfilled in England," the Scot exclusively told The Telegraph. "I think I'm a decent manager and a very good coach. I've still got a lot to offer some club who will maybe take a chance on me.

"I've been very open with Kilmarnock fans since the day I came in. This isn't a lifetime project. I came in to stabilise the club and push them forward but I've said all along that at some stage I want to go back to England.

"My children live there, my grandson is three years old and I miss him every day I'm up here.

"As I sit here now I've turned down three possible moves away, and I've always stayed at Kilmarnock. At some stage I will leave, and in the summer I'll make a decision on my future, but I certainly won't rule out staying here."

Clarke has taken Kilmarnock from the bottom of the Scottish Premiership to third in the space of 18 months, helping to restore a reputation which was damaged after he left West Bromwich Albion.

The 56-year-old was targeted by Fulham before Slavisa Jokanovic's appointment three-and-a-half-years ago, but turned down the Cottagers to remain at Reading - who sacked him shortly after.

Super Lig club targeting Fulham €25m midfielder, ready to make offer

Fotospor report Besiktas are interested in signing Fulham midfielder Andre-Frank Zambo Aguissa in the summer transfer window.

It's reported the Cameroon international is a transfer target for Besiktas, along with his Fulham teammates Fabri and Ryan Babel, who have both played for the Black Eagles in the past.

According to Fotospor, Besiktas will make a loan offer for Aguissa as the Istanbul club look to bolster their squad for next season.

It's been well documented in the Turkish media that Besiktas are looking for central midfielders this summer, with some of their players in this area of the pitch being linked with moves away from the club.

Anguissa joined Fulham from Marseille for €25m at the start of the season and he's made 17 appearances in the Premier League. However, with the London's club relegation to the Championship confirmed this week the player may decide to move on in the next window.

The youngster is under contract at Craven Cottage until June 2023.

The six key Fulham players likely to leave the club following relegation

It has been a season to forget for Fulham in the Premier League

Six key Fulham players look set to leave the club this summer following relegation to the Championship.

That's according to Ladbrokes, who have priced up a whole host of likely summer exits following the Cottagers' relegation from the Premier League.

And at 4/7, Ryan Sessegnon is considered the most likely Fulham player to make a move, amid reported interest from Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham.

He's followed in the betting by Aleksandar Mitrovic and Tom Cairney at 10/11 apiece, while Alfie Mawson is 5/4 to leave Craven Cottage.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: "Plenty will have their eyes on Fulham's wantaway stars this summer and they'll do well to keep hold of half of their team if the latest odds are anything to go by."

Fulham spent more than £100million on new signings last summer following promotion from the Championship, and two more of those are also being heavily tipped to move on this summer.

Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa is 11/8 to leave Craven Cottage this summer, while Jean Michael Seri is 6/4 to exit Fulham this summer.

Fulham's relegation was confirmed on Tuesday as they lost 4-1 against Watford at Vicarage Road, sealing the Cottagers' fate with five games left to play.

Tottenham target set to leave current club this summer for less than £50m – report

Fulham have accepted Tottenham target Ryan Sessegnon will leave the club this summer, according to the Mirror.

The Cottagers were relegated to the Championship on Tuesday night following a 4-1 defeat at Watford.

As a result, a number of players considered good enough to remain in the Premier League are set to leave the club this summer.

Chief among those players is Sessegnon, who was heavily linked with a move to Spurs at the beginning of the season.

The Mirror claims Tottenham remain interested in the 18-year-old and could take advantage of Fulham's relegation by swooping for him in the coming months.

Sessegnon has struggled to replicate his Championship performances in the top-flight, but it hasn't helped that he has been playing in a losing side.

It is believed Fulham no longer value him at £50 million as he has just a year remaining on his current contract.

With that in mind, Spurs may be able to sign Sessegnon for a cut-price fee this summer.

His ability to play at left-back or further forward will surely be appealing to Mauricio Pochettino, who values versatility as a trait.

Bassey the warrior

We should ask for £40m for Mitro and £30m or Anguissa, both under long term contract. Sess will be harder to extract good money for.

'Everything in limbo' – Fulham player keeping quiet, but has clause to jump sinking ship

Andre Schurrle, on a two year loan from Borussia Dortmund, has arguably been one of Fulham's better signings of recent windows, but on its own that's hardly a badge of honour.

The club haven't had the best of times from transfer markets and there often seems to be a lack of planning, no firm direction, and then a resulting scattergun approach.

With six Premier League goals, Schurrle is the club's second highest scorer. Unfortunately only one of those has come in 2019.

With the club having their relegation to the Championship confirmed this week, now comes the more serious talk about exits.

This week's edition of Kicker ponders what will happen to Schurrle, and they make it clear a future at Borussia Dortmund isn't likely.

The German magazine say that according to the player's entourage 'everything is in limbo'. There's no firm decision, and he's keeping a low profile ahead of the birth of his first child this month.

He does have a clause which allows him to jump off the sinking Fulham ship.

In February, the same magazine asked him if he'd continue at Fulham should they be relegated: "No. My loan would end in the case of relegation. The contract in Dortmund would be active again."

4 Fulham players Premier League sides should target this summer

Many tipped Fulham to be the surprise package of the Premier League this season. They invested heavily during the summer and pieced together an interesting squad.

And to be fair to Fulham, they did live up to this billing. Just not as had been expected.

Their poor performances were a surprise. Sacking Slaviša Jokanović was a surprise. Heading straight back to the Championship was a surprise.

Fulham's fate was sealed after a 4-1 loss to Watford on Tuesday evening. They'll join the already relegated Huddersfield Town in England's second tier next season. Another summer rebuild may be on the cards and to finance that some stars may have to be sold.

With this in mind, we take a look at four Fulham players Premier League clubs will no doubt be looking at as they look to strengthen without breaking the bank.

Ryan Sessegnon
One of the most highly-rated youngsters in the world prior to the current season kicking off, the versatile left-back was linked to Liverpool, Manchester United, Spurs and Manchester City. There was even talk that Paris Saint-Germain wanted to add him to their ranks.

However, his stock has dramatically fallen after a disappointing 2018/19 campaign. The 18-year-old struggled to replicate his goalscoring exploits from the previous year, netting just twice, and hasn't been a guaranteed starter under any of the managers at Fulham this season.

Having said that, the 1,870 minutes of Premier League football will have aided his development and with experience in the English top flight, he's much less of a gamble.

Rumours are £50million will be required to pry him away from the clutches of Fulham, and the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Spurs remain interested, acocrding to reports.

But with just a year left on his deal, that price could well be halved with a few clauses added to keep all parties happy.

Aleksander Mitrović
Fulham will have it all to do to keep hold of Mitrović. The powerhouse Serbian has averaged 0.32 goals per 90 this season and their horrid run of form over recent weeks has coincided with him not hitting the back of the net.

The 24-year-old cost a reported £22million last summer and given his exploits this year for the Cottagers, he could well move for close to double that at the end of the campaign. A monster in the air, winning 6.65 aerial duels on average, Mitrovic has scored six headers this season, the most in the Premier League.

He is ideal for a team that looks to get the ball into the area and his goals could well be the difference between a mid-table finish a push for a Europa League place.

He's exactly the type of forward favoured by Brendan Rodgers and if the Leicester City manager is given funds to spend he may come calling for the former Newcastle United man.

Jean Michel Seri
The dynamic midfielder was at one time a reported transfer target for Barcelona. José Mourinho also wanted to add him to his squad at Manchester United while there had been reports in France that Liverpool viewed him as an alternative to Naby Keïta before they finally struck a deal with RB Leipzig.

A move to Fulham was supposed to be a stepping stone to an even bigger club. An opportunity to put himself in the most glamorous of shop windows: the Premier League.

Yet Seri has struggled at Craven Cottage and it's likely he'll be sold in the summer. The Ivory Coast international may still get a move to one of the big boys in the English top flight but he'd arrived as a squad player as opposed to a first-team starter after failing to really take the English top flight by storm.

Alfie Mawson
The former Swansea City man made the switch to Craven Cottage in the summer for a fee believed to be £20million. He was on the peripheral of the England squad before the move but injuries and disappointing form has resulted in the defender not receiving another call up to Gareth Southgate's squad.

Spurs were rumoured to be keen on the 25-year-old prior to his move to Fulham, and West Ham United had a bid turned down by Swansea. Both may still hold an interest if the price is right.

Likewise, one of the top six could attempt to supplement their homegrown quota by signing the centre-back.

Adept on the ball, he wouldn't look out of place in a side that dominates possession. His aerial ability is a bonus but would be a welcomed one for any side in the top flight.

In-Focus: Reading U23s

Fulham Under-23s will be looking to put their PL Cup exit behind them as they host Reading Under-23s under the lights at Craven Cottage on Friday night in the PL2.

The Young Whites suffered heartbreak in their round of 16 PL Cup game, losing on penalties to a vastly experienced Leeds side at AFC Guiseley.

This will be the fourth time we face The Royals this season having encountered them in Group G of the PL Cup, in which both teams advanced.

Scott Marshall's side have slipped to fourth in the PL2, just three points off league leaders Wolves. They also exited the PL International Cup at the semi-final stage earlier this week to a strong Bayern Munich side.

Last Time Out:

The last time we faced Reading in the PL Cup it was enough to secure qualification into the round of 16. A delicate finish from Harvey Elliott and Timmy Abraham's simple finish sealed victory over the Group winners.

View From the Gaffer:

Mark Pembridge gestured to the fact that the PL Cup game against Leeds was a fantastic learning curve for his young side. He also hinted that a couple of players could be returning to his side after lengthy absences ahead of the Reading game.

"I thought we started against Leeds really well." He told fulhamfc.com. "We went 1-0 down when one of the boys switched off for just a second to give the penalty away. We matched them in all departments. Leeds are a very strong side in their league. They had three or four first team players which made them a lot stronger.

"We couldn't quite get to grips with them going down to ten men. They made it into a fight. All in all, it was great for the boys to play in front of two and a half thousand people.

"The boys are still learning, it's a good learning curve. It's all situations they'll experience if they go into our first team or somebody else's first team. Hopefully this will stand them in good stead."

"Some boys need some game time who are coming back from injury. They've been out on the grass for a few weeks training now so they should hopefully get some game time tomorrow.

The Under-23s boss also acknowledged the need to keep pushing his squad until the end of the season as we prepare to face a familiar foe in The Royals.

"We need to keep playing until the end of the season. We have three games left for them to keep maximising their true potential. We've played Reading enough times to know what they're about. They've sent players out on loan around Christmas. They are always strong and will compete.

"We need to play so many games per season at the Cottage and this our final one. That's always good for the boys."

Fulhamfctv subscribers can watch a livestream of the game from 6:45pm on Friday night and tickets are available on the gate.

Liverpool ECHO puts out Ryan Sessegnon transfer possibility

The local Liverpool newspaper ECHO has named Ryan Sessegnon of Fulham as potential transfer for Jurgen Klopp's Reds this summer.

It is April and that means the transfer rumor mill is winding up to full speed. Regardless of how Liverpool fare in their bid to win the Premier League and Champions League they will be linked to top names. The Liverpool ECHO have raised the possibility of signing Ryan Sessegnon from Fulham.

Highlighting the four-year trend of buying a player from a relegated club – Danny Ings, Gini Wijnaldum, Andrew Robertson & Xherdan Shaqiri – the paper has speculated who might be the fifth name in that sequence in the 2019 summer transfer window.

Top of that list is Sessegnon who has been linked to the Reds for two years now. The left-sided player has started as a full back and wing back for The Cottagers but his best position is as a left forward.

The England Under 21 star was a Liverpool fan growing an idolized Steven Gerrard. He must be itching for the opportunity to come to Anfield and develop under Klopp after Fulham's confirmation of relegation this week.

I'd love to see him join LFC. He has all the talent to be a top player and a season or two as Sadio Mane's understudy would be a great opportunity to develop. This one may happen!

The other two names picked out as potential transfer are both from Huddersfield Town; midfielder Philip Billing and goalkeeper Jonas Lossl.

The English defensive anchor has been the Terriers best player this term in an otherwise unimpressive season for his teammates.

With Simon Mignolet set to leave the club and Loris Karius a disaster, the Reds could be on the lookout for a new reserve keeper and Lossl would be a high-level backup.

Does the Liverpool Echo know more about the Reds' summer transfer plans than we do? Certainly. Is this a way of preparing the ground for the coming speculation in the months ahead? We will find out!

Fulham resigned to losing Ryan Sessegnon in summer transfer window

Moving on: Ryan Sessegnon's contract expires in 2020 ( Action Images via Reuters )

Fulham are resigned to losing Ryan Sessegnon this summer after they were relegated.

The Cottagers want to keep the core of their squad together in the Championship but they will struggle to keep hold of the 18-year-old who has just one year season on his contract.

Sessegnon has stalled on signing a new deal and is likely to stay in the Premier League.

The winger was valued at £50million last summer when Tottenham were interested in him but his value has dropped as he prepares to enter the final 12 months of his deal.

Fulham want keep their best players and will not be forced to sell Sessegnon. But he is likely to be allowed to move on should a good offer come in.

Despite struggling for form and confidence during a difficult season for Fulham, Sessegnon remains one of the brightest young talents in England.

The England Under-21 international, who turns 19 next month, has sent a message to Fulham fans and expressed his disappointment at the club's relegation.

He said on Twitter: "Last year we achieved something that I had been dreaming of as a Fulham player. There was no better feeling for me than getting the club I have been at since I was a kid back to the Prem.

"We knew this season would be a massive test but are gutted that it has ended like this. We know all season we were not good enough and ultimately we paid the price for it.

"We can't thank the fans enough for the support week in, week out. It has meant everything you have kept us going through some very tough times. All we can do now is try and finish the season on a high.

Could Jean Michel Seri's reported Fulham exit help West Ham transfer?

Jean Michel Seri is expected to leave relegated Premier League outfit Fulham with Serie A giants Napoli reportedly interested.

Napoli could offer Jean Michel Seri an escape from Craven Cottage this summer with Fulham's relegation from the Premier League confirmed on Tuesday, as reported by Calciomercato.

And that is a move that might just help West Ham bring a new midfielder to the London Stadium.

Big things were expected of Seri and Fulham as a whole when the former Nice midfielder moved to West London in 2018 for a fee of £22 million.

And the Ivorian international, who was oh-so close to joining Barcelona just 12 months earlier, announced himself in style with a long-range rocket in a 4-2 thrashing of Burnley back in August.

However, Seri's debut season soon turned sour and he became a passenger on a sinking Fulham ship. Scott Parker's side sealed their return to the Championship with a 4-1 defeat at Watford this week and Football London reports that Seri has no interest in playing second tier football next season.

So a move to one of Italy's best and biggest clubs would surely appeal.

Calciomercato claims that Carlo Ancelotti's Napoli are set to renew their interest in a player they tried to sign last summer with Marek Hamsik having left for China and Amadou Diawara also expected to depart.

Tuttomercatoweb claim that West Ham are keen on Diawara and Fulham letting Seri go could help the Hammers get their man.

£20m Liverpool flop Lazar Markovic has wasted his last chance at Fulham

Lazar Markovic left Liverpool for Fulham on loan in January but he has played just 45 minutes of Premier League football for the relegated Cottagers.

Lazar Markovic's move to Fulham in January looked like an ideal opportunity for both player and club.

Markovic had tumbled well down the pecking order at Liverpool and had been handed a chance to prove that he does have the quality to play Premier League football.

Fulham, meanwhile, signed a gifted winger who was once compared to a certain Mr Messi before joining the Reds from Benfica for £20 million, as reported by the BBC.

But a switch that looked perfect on paper has been anything but in reality.

Fulham's relegation from the Premier League was confirmed on Tuesday after a typically error-strewn 4-1 defeat at Watford. Markovic was nowhere to be seen, left out of the match day squad for the seventh time in nine games since he swapped Anfield for Craven Cottage.

In fact, the Serbian has only played 45 minutes of football for Fulham, starting the 3-1 defeat to West Ham in February before being hooked at half time thanks in part to a calf strain.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Markovic was on a £50,000-a-week deal at Liverpool and it was no surprise when he was released in January, Jurgen Klopp's side taking a £20 million hit.

But the 25-year-old's sorry descent has shown no sign of coming to an end.

Southampton touted as Mitrovic suitors

Southampton have been linked with a move for Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic by Serbian news outlet Zurnal.

The forward has found the back of the net on 10 occasions for his side in the Premier League this season but was unable to ensure that they kept their heads above water in the top flight.

Fulham's relegation back down to the Championship was confirmed on Tuesday night as they were consigned to a 4-1 defeat away at Watford.

Mitrovic joined in a £25 million deal from Newcastle United last summer after impressing for the club on loan, but it seems he could be on the move following his side's drop back down to the second tier

Zurnal states that a number of Premier League sides are interested in signing the former RSC Anderlecht youngster this summer, with Southampton among those keen.

The Saints are said to be joined by Everton, Tottenham Hotspur, Leicester City and West Ham United in their pursuit of Mitrovic, with Chinese Super League club Guangzhou Evergande also keen.

Former Fulham striker pinpoints two players who could be key to bouncing back next season

Bobby Zamora has given his view on what Fulham must do now following their relegation from the Premier League

Ryan Babel and Andre Schurrle could be important to Fulham's chances of bouncing back to the Premier League at the first attempt next season.

That's the view of former Fulham striker Bobby Zamora, who has been reflecting on his old club's relegation from the Premier League and what they must do now to try and gain promotion back to the top flight.

And he says he feels that who Fulham can keep hold of and who they bring in will be key to their chances of getting back to the top tier at the first attempt.

"Fulham have the ability to bounce back but that comes down to their recruitment over the summer," Zamora said, speaking exclusively to 888sport.

"Hopefully Scottie [Parker] is given a chance next year and then the club can move forward. They need to keep hold of a lot of their players too but that will be a financial decision. Ideally if they can retain [Ryan] Babel and [Andre] Schurrle, those two could be important and make a massive difference but that comes down to their mind-set."

There are doubts over whether both players will be at Fulham next season though, with Babel out of contract this summer, while Schurrle is on a two-year loan deal from Borussia Dortmund.

Meanwhile, Zamora says he feels that Fulham's failure to overcome their defensive frailties is what has cost them dearly during the course of the season in the top flight.

"For me Fulham have missed two good centre-halves. They genuinely needed two proper centre-halves and that has let them down this season," he said.

"They were crying out for them in January but didn't get them and now they're paying the price."

Agreed. Saha did the same before he went to Manure.
It would be the least he should do considering what the Club has done for him over the years.
