Tottenham must act for Sess as Juventus will bid

Daniel Levy cannot hesitate to act in Tottenham's pursuit of Fulham flyer Ryan Sessegnon as it seems Juventus reportedly won't wait around to make their move.

According to the Daily Express, Spurs will be competing with Juventus in a £40million battle for the Fulham teenager in the summer with the player certain to leave Craven Cottage after the club's relegation.

The national newspaper claim that Juventus, who reached this season's Champions League quarter finals, will make a bid for Sessegnon as they want to add fresh blood to their ageing team.

Given that the Italian giants are definitely going to act in their pursuit and will be an appealing prospect for the Fulham player due to their status in world football, Spurs cannot afford to mess around if they truly want him.

Juventus are unlikely to be put off by Fulham's £40million demand for Sessegnon and it would be no surprise if they instantly matched that price tag to get a deal in motion as it's not like they can't afford to do that.

Levy has always been known to be a tough negotiator and while that can sometimes work in Spurs' favour, it can also cause an issue.

The Spurs chairman needs to be aware that acting slowly and trying to bargain with Fulham, could end up making the London club miss out on getting Sessegnon's services.

The 18-year-old winger has scored twice and assisted six goals in 35 outings for Fulham this season and that's rather impressive.

While some would be expecting his numbers to be higher; when you consider his age, the fact he was playing in a struggling team, had to put up with being played out of position, it's actually amazing that he has got numbers that high.

This means Tottenham could benefit from having Sessegnon on board and as a result need to ensure they move fast to beat Juventus after this report.

Norwich linked with move for Babel

Norwich have been linked with a swoop for Fulham forward Ryan Babel ahead of the summer transfer window.

According to Turkish outlet Milliyet, Norwich are showing an interest in signing Babel on a free transfer.

The Dutch international is set to be available on a free transfer, after signing a six-month contract with Fulham back in January.

He left Turkish side Besiktas, joining Fulham in an attempt to help them avoid relegation back to the Championship.

However, despite his impressive form, Fulham have already been relegated and Babel is unlikely to stay at Craven Cottage – according to this report.

Babel has four goals and three assists in 13 Premier League appearances for Fulham so far, and has also scored eight goals in 54 caps for his country.

Milliyet do claim that Babel would prefer to move back to Turkey, with Fenerbahce said to be interested in the forward.

Former Fulham and Millwall midfielder excited to take over Dorking Wanderers U18s

Great Bookham resident Jake Gallagher will manage Wanderers U18s after parting company with Leatherhead

Jake Gallagher in action for Aldershot Town

AFTER four years managing the Leatherhead U18s, former Fulham and Millwall midfielder Jake Gallagher has joined the coaching staff at the Tanners' local rivals Dorking Wanderers.

After Leatherhead decided to take a "different path" with their youth set up, the 26-year-old will take over the management of Wanderers U18s for the coming 2019-2020 campaign and admits he can't wait to get started.

"The opportunity to come to Dorking Wanderers was one I didn't think I would get and when I did, I made sure my coaching team and I were ready to take it on," Gallagher, who is currently on the books of Aldershot Town as a player but has yet to formalise his own playing plans for next season, said.

"The club is a great one and has always been moving in the right direction. We can't wait to be part of it.

"I was at Leatherhead for many years but they took a different path and that was without me in charge. I've had some great memories at Leatherhead and gained some valuable experience but I'm now ready to take all that knowledge with me to the next step of my coaching career with Dorking Wanderers."

And while hopefully it is a few years away yet, Gallagher admits that when the time does come for him to hang up his boots, he would love to remain in football.

"I really enjoy passing on my knowledge to young players just starting their football career," he explained. "I can help and guide them in the right direction both in their football career and also in life outside of football. I have the opportunity to work with them over two years. I'm not just making them better football players, I'm often helping them in everyday life.

"I'm still playing so I'm always taking ideas off managers I've played under. I'm coaching U18s in the Isthmian League, which is the best level of U18 football outside of academies.

"I'm in a great position to keep learning, doing my badges and when the time comes to hang up the boots I'll be ready for first team management."

And it won't be just Gallagher joining Wanderers but the coaching team he worked with at Fetcham Grove, who he likens to the characters from hit film The Hangover.

"There's me, Jake, the gaffer or Phil; the leader. If you've seen the films you'll understand!" he explained. "Then we have Anthony Panayi, who is assistant manager and he's more like Stu in that he plays a big part but doesn't really actually help. Then there's my twin brother Josh, who will be a coach. He'd be Alan - absolutely useless but key to the success.

"There's Daniel Canning, who is our goalkeeping coach and physio. He's Chow  - always causing trouble. And last but not least Harry Wickens, who is our waterboy and he'd be the ever-present Doug."

Gallagher and his motley crew will be holding trials this week for players to join Wanderers U18s for the upcoming season and as well as being talented on the pitch, they are looking for teenagers with the attitude to match their abilities.

"I want players to turn up be polite and introduce themselves," he said. "They should interact with the other players and the management team.

"The ideal player will be honest and hard working, give 100 per cent effort and be energetic.

"They should show good quality and show their willing to work for the team. We are looking for all positions."

Trials are Thursday evening (April 25) at Westhumble Playing Field  and next Tuesday (April 30) at Meadowbank Stadium from 5.45pm – 7.30pm. To book, email [email protected]

Fulham player's demands proving an issue for interested club

Takvim report the only issue stopping Galatasaray and Ryan Babel getting a deal done is the attacker's signing on fee.

We covered reports from Turkey last month that the Fulham man is close to agreeing a deal with Galatasaray and the Turkish side are ready to pay him €2.5m per season to make this happen.

However, Takvim say talks over a move for the Fulham player have stalled due to his high demands. It's reported Galatasaray will look to solve the issue as soon as possible as the Istanbul club are concerned about competition from other clubs to sign the Netherlands international.

There are reports the Fulham winger could even stay in the Premier League but there's also been reported interest from Gala's local rivals Fenerbahce

Babel, who will become a free agent at the end of the season, has scored four goals for Fulham since arriving at Craven Cottage in the last window.

Fulham players convinced Scott Parker will land permanent job after back-to-back wins

On the job: Parker is planning for life in the Championship ( Getty Images )

Fulham players are convinced Scott Parker will be appointed manager at Craven Cottage on a permanent basis.

Caretaker boss Parker has boosted his chance of landing the job with back-to-back wins against Everton and Bournemouth, and he has huge support from within the dressing room.

The Fulham hierarchy have been impressed with the work Parker has done since replacing Claudio Ranieri and, while no final decision has been made on their next manager, senior staff at the club are working with the 38-year-old to put plans in place for the Championship next season.

Parker has discussed potential transfer targets and has helped put together plans for a pre-season programme which is likely to include games in Portugal.

Fulham players including Tom Cairney and Ryan Sessegnon want Parker to get the job full-time and the core of the squad want to finish the season strongly to strengthen his claims for the role.

The Cottagers host Cardiff on Saturday and there is growing belief among the players that Parker will be given the job if they continue their good form.

Parker has had a huge impact on and off the pitch in the seven weeks since being placed in temporary charge and has won many admirers for the way he has tackled the job.

The former England midfielder could not prevent Fulham being relegated but he has transformed the mood around the club. His personal man management has helped foster a good team spirit and he has also shown he is capable tactically. Fulham players have been receptive to his coaching methods on the training pitch and he has helped get the best out of Cairney and Sessegnon, who were not playing to their potential under Ranieri.

Parker guided Fulham to their first away win of the season on Saturday when they beat Bournemouth 1-0.

After the game he addressed the players in the dressing room at the Vitality Stadium and told them he was proud of their efforts since he took over. Parker said: "Since I came into this position they have given me absolutely everything.

Newcastle transfer being investigated by police, suspected money laundering

Currently at Fulham, Aleksandar Mitrovic made his first steps in English football at Newcastle United back in 2015 after the Magpies paid around £16.5m to acquire the Serbian from Anderlecht.

His time at St James' Park wasn't a huge success, scoring just 17 goals in 72 appearances, 25 of which came in the Championship.

Despite this, a successful loan to Fulham during the second half of last season led the Cottagers to pay Newcastle just over £18m for the now 24-year-old, who has scored 11 goals in 34 appearances in the Premier League this year.

That should have been the last the Magpies heard of Mitrovic, having managed to somehow make a profit on him, yet news emerging from Belgium suggests otherwise.

According to a number of Belgian outlets, including DH, police have raided the Anderlecht training ground on Wednesday morning as they investigate suspected money laundering and criminal association.

The newspaper say that 'at the heart' of the investigation is the transfer of Aleksandar Mitrovic from the Jupiler Pro League side to Newcastle in which Pini Zahavi and Fali Ramadani were involved.

As well as Anderlecht's training ground, the company One Goal Management, who specialises in football transfers, has also been raided.

All in all, five separate raids took place on Wednesday morning.

#FULCAR History | In Focus: Jeff Eckhardt

Recalling the career of the Cardiff City centre-half that helped the Bluebirds to two old Division Three promotions at the turn of the millennium...

Jeff Eckhardt was born on October 7th, 1965. Hailing from Sheffield, the young man began his footballing career as a youth at Sheffield United, having been signed by then-manager Martin Peters after performing well in a reserves match against Coventry City in 1981. By the 1985-86 season, Jeff played regular first team football for the Blades, who were in the Second Division. It was here that he was a roommate with teammate Ray Lewington, who was more experienced than the younger Eckhardt. Speaking with Cardiff City's matchday programme a few years ago, Jeff elaborated: "Ray Lewington was at Sheffield United at the same time. The manager picked the hotel rooms then and instead of letting two old boys and two foolish kids room together, he'd put an old one with a young one. I was with Ray – he was a lovely bloke, we always got on well and still do. He used to tell me: 'when I become manager you will be the first person I sign.'"

Lewington, who is now assistant manager for Crystal Palace, kept to his word, and the following season he became player-manager for Fulham aged 29, and almost immediately approached Eckhardt.

"I was on holiday and my girlfriend at the time was taking the mickey, saying he'd be coming to sign me. Within two-and-a-half hours my phone rang and it was him. I didn't sign then as I was still in the first team at Sheffield United, but a year or two later I finally went."

Jeff left Sheffield United for Fulham in 1987, and made his debut for the club in the November of that year, aged 22. The young player spent almost seven years at Craven Cottage, and became a crucial part of the squad for his versatility on the pitch, in addition to his work ethic. During his time at the club, Eckhardt made 249 league appearances for the Lilywhites, scoring 25 goals in the process. Looking back at his time with the club, who were in the third tier of English football for most of his time there, Jeff reflected: "I had six fantastic years at the Club. They were not the Club's glory years, but I loved it; the football and the lifestyle. But as I got older, I realised that perhaps I had been operating in a comfort zone at the Cottage. I was Captain and knew I was going to get picked every week and took it for granted."

Following Fulham's relegation to the fourth tier in 1994, Eckhardt moved to Stockport County, where he made 67 appearances over the course of two years at the club. His move in 1996 to Cardiff City saw the defender once again playing in the old Division Three whilst entering his thirties.

"I wouldn't say I was on my last legs, but I was twenty-nine and three-quarters I think, and at that age you are thinking that perhaps there isn't a lot left in the tank. I got a three-year deal at Cardiff, which went on to be six in the end."

Eckhardt's role in the squad was as a utility player, and despite preferring to be played as a centre-half, he had natural goalscoring ability, and would often play in the midfield, and even occasonally as a forward. His approach to beginning his tenure at Cardiff City by remaining as a defender was clear, though scoring on his debut in a 1-0 victory against Brighton & Hove Albion did not help his case.

"I went to Fulham as a centre-half, but then I played midfield as we were short there. Then I went up to centre-forward and scored goals. I did the same at Stockport, and thought, if I go to Cardiff I want to go full circle and be a centre-half again. I don't want to be messing around being mister utility.

"Thirty or forty minutes into my first game after everything I'd said about being centre-half when I signed, something happened and I had to go up top. I then took one on my chest and hit it on the half volley from twenty yards. Usually with me, I'd have missed it totally or hit the bar, but that one flew into the top corner."

Cardiff City won promotion from the old Division Three twice during Eckhardt's time at the club, as the defender racked up 231 league appearances for the Bluebirds before he left in 2001. A fan favourite from the off, Jeff recalled his relationship with the Cardiff City faithful, beginning with his debut appearance: "That was the start of my love affair with the fans, as I moved back to centre-half in the same game and split my head open, with blood coming down my face. That was it – we were linked together after that.

"I remember we were away to Northampton soon after and I'd played with a big bandage around my head. As I was doing the warm-up, I noticed Cardiff fans in the stands with bandages wrapped around their heads too!"

Following his time with the Bluebirds, Jeff continued to play football at Newport County, before a spell at Merthyr Tydfil. In a career spanning more than 15 years, Jeff Eckhardt made over 500 league appearances for several clubs, and is fondly remembered as a player for his versatility and willingness to give his all on the pitch.

Match Preview: Fulham vs. Cardiff City

This weekend, the Bluebirds travel to the English capital to face Fulham in their penultimate away match of the 2018/19 Premier League season.

The opposition

Neil Warnock's men will face a Fulham side at Craven Cottage whose relegation was confirmed at the beginning of April following a 4-1 defeat against Watford at Vicarage Road. Despite a disappointing campaign, the Whites have won back-to-back Premier League outings against Everton and AFC Bournemouth ahead of this weekend's encounter. Their latter 1-0 triumph over the Cherries at the Vitality Stadium saw them record their first win win over their counterparts in a league match since 1994, as well as securing back-to-back top-flight wins for the first time since April 2014.

Aleksandar Mitrović is the club's top goal-scorer this season, with his second-half penalty against Eddie Howe's side – his 11th goal in all competitions for the club.

In the hot seat
Following a poor run of form which saw Claudio Ranieri collect only three wins from his 17 matches in charge, the Italian departed the South-West London outfit. Scott Parker has since been in charge of the club and has won two of his opening seven matches. Parker is Fulham's third manager of the campaign, after Ranieri and Slaviša Jokanović.

Prior to his stint as caretaker manager, the 38-year-old made 128 appearances as a player at Craven Cottage – netting six times. During his career as a midfielder, he made a combined total of 572 appearances in all competitions, featuring for Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United, Newcastle United, Chelsea and Charlton Athletic. During his spell at the latter, he won the Football League First Division title (now known as the Championship) with the Addicks in 1999-2000. Whilst at the club, he was awarded Charlton Athletic Player of the Year during the club's 2002-2003 season.

Last time out
ardiff City 4-2 Fulham - 20th October 2018

The Bluebirds secured their first Premier League win of the campaign against Fulham at Cardiff City Stadium in October.

The Whites found themselves in front after a wonder-strike from World Cup winner André Schürrle after eleven minutes. The German international collected the ball 30 yards from goal, before firing his shot into the top right-hand corner to give the visitors an early advantage.

However, the Bluebirds hit-back and were on level terms through Josh Murphy. The winger drove into the box before unleashing his shot hard and low past Marcus Bettinelli.

Warnock's men took a deserved lead moments later through Bobby Decordova-Reid, who netted his first goal for the club on the twenty-minute mark. The away side failed to clear their lines, before the ball eventually fell to the forward who calmly slotted the ball past the 'keeper.

As the Bluebirds looked to extend their lead, the away side struck back. Aleksandar Mitrović neatly found teammate Ryan Sessegnon, who darted inside the Bluebirds' box before lifting the ball over Neil Etheridge as the first-half goal fest concluded with the sides level at 2-2.

The Bluebirds began the second period looking to restore their lead and went close through Harry Arter and Callum Paterson, but with 25 minutes left of the contest left to play – the home side found their third. Bruno Ecuele Manga drilled a low-cross into the box which found Decordova-Reid. The forward helped the ball onto Paterson who squeezed his shot on the turn into the bottom corner.

The home side unzipped the Fulham defence one final time and took the game away from our opponents thanks to Kadeem Harris. Víctor Camarasa took full advantage of Tim Ream's slip, powerfully striding forwards before clipping a cross to the far post to Harris who made no mistake in netting the Bluebirds' fourth goal from close range.

The result handed Warnock's side their first victory of the season as they moved out of the relegation places on goal difference, which delighted the Gaffer.

"We had a few knock-backs and showed a lot of character – everything was positive today," said the boss at the final whistle.

Club links
Bluebirds shot-stopper Neil Etheridge began his professional career at this weekend's opponents. The 29-year-old made one appearance for the Whites in a UEFA Europa League encounter during their 2011-2012 campaign against Odense Boldklub. Etheridge signed for the Bluebirds in the summer of 2017 and has made 82 appearances since his arrival.

Jazz Richards is another current first-team player to have represented both City and Fulham. The Welshman joined the Whites on-loan during their 2014-2015 season and made 14 league appearances that season. In the summer of 2015, the defender signed for the club on a permanent deal and made a further 26 appearances in all competitions before putting pen-to-paper with the Bluebirds in July 2016.

Scott Malone departed the Bluebirds as part of the Richards deal after making 56 appearances while in South Wales. The left-back will fondly be remembered by the Cardiff City faithful for his stunning last-minute equaliser against QPR at Loftus Road in August 2015 – the defender's only goal as a Bluebird. The 28-year-old joined the Whites in July 2016 and made 42 appearances in all competitions, scoring six goals during his spell.

Former Bluebirds forward Ross McCormack moved to London in July 2014 and made 100 appearances in all competitions, netting 42 times. During his stint, the 13-time capped Scotland international won Fulham's Player of the Year Award in back-to-back campaigns in 2014-2015 and 2015-2016. After two seasons, the 32-year-old departed the South-West London outfit and signed for Aston Villa for an undisclosed fee.

Alan Cork ended his playing career at our counterparts. The former Bluebirds boss made 15 appearances during their 1993-1994 campaign, finding the net on three occasions.

Aleksandar Mitrovic Newcastle United transfer investigated as part of police raids on Wednesday

Aleksandar Mitrovic moved to Newcastle United in summer 2015 for around £14m and now that move is reported to be part of a investigation into alleged moneylaundering.

Wednesday morning has seen police carry out raids in Belgium at Anderlecht's stadium and training ground, as well as at the Belgian FA and player management company 'One Goal Management'.

All of the Belgian media are covering the case, including HLN, DH and Sporza.

The public prosecutor has told the Belgian media that this raid is completely separate from the large scale fraud investigation in Belgian football (Operation Zero), that started in October.

The investigation is claimed to centre around transfers that happened between 2013 and 2015, Newcastle having bought both Aleksandar Mitrovic and Chancel Mbemba from Anderlect in summer 2015.

Large quantities of documents are said to have been seized in the raids at the various locations, as the police investigation looks to tie everything together.

Super agent Pini Zahavi was involved in the deal that brought Aleksandar Mitrovic to St James Park but he has denied any collaboration with the company One Goal Management in the Serbian striker's deal.

Recent media reports have claimed that Pini Zahavi has been engaged by Mike Ashley to line up a potential replacement for Rafa Benitez.

Both Anderlecht and the Belgian FA have confirmed that they are cooperating fully with the investigation.

The Tony Gale Column

It would be easy for heads to drop after relegation was confirmed, but the lads have certainly played with pride in the last two matches. They're getting the best out of each other. Bournemouth was not an easy fixture, they're a difficult team who have had a lot of good results at home. They're very capable of building up a head of steam and blowing teams away. That was a really good result on Saturday, as was the Everton one which was fully deserved. They've gone and beaten Manchester United 4-0 since, which shows you just how impressive our win was.

The travelling faithful down on the south coast seemed to enjoy themselves over the Bank Holiday, and they really deserve that. As far as away days go, there can't have been many better than that one in Bournemouth – great weather, brilliant atmosphere, and a win! I'm happy for the supporters, because they have been great. They haven't really moaned about relegation, they've just got on with it and made the best of the situation.

I get the impression that all the players want Scott Parker to do well, to help him get the job, so it's pleasing that he has got those results. It would have been really difficult if he'd lost those two fixtures and it had been seven on the spin. But having won those, maybe he's proved he can get these boys together as one. As Scott has often said, he's been planning away – pre-season and things like that – even if he's not there, so that the preparation is done and the Club is in a good position come the summer. He's putting Fulham first which is great to see and will stand us in good stead.

Cardiff are up next at the Cottage, and even though they have more riding on the game, it's one we're going to be desperate to win. There is a good chance we'll be playing them next season, so psychologically you want to be beating these teams. If they are in the Championship with us, you don't want them to have done the double over us this year. We want to go and win the game on Saturday to keep the run going. Go and get a result, go and prove – like you have in the last couple of games – that you really want to win, and that you want to win for the Manager.

Depending how Brighton get on, we could effectively relegate Cardiff on Saturday, but I don't think the players will be reading too much into that – all they'll be caring about is the three points. Whoever you're playing, it's always about the three points. But with this one, we'll want to put down a marker on Cardiff because you do remember what's gone on the previous season, without a doubt.

They've had a better season than us, and that reflects in the points tally. I think we are better individually than Cardiff and we play better football, but they've shown so much resilience and fight in their play this season that they're still in with a shout of staying up with three games to go. You know full well that Neil Warnock will have his team fired up. They'll want to push Brighton all the way to the final day, so we have to be ready for that come Saturday.

Absolutely disgraceful as Fulham sell tickets to Newcastle United fans but now cancel them

Pretty disgraceful from Fulham football club.

The West London club have now decided to take back tickets from Newcastle United fans who had bought them in good faith for the final Premier League match of the season.

Fulham issuing refunds but countless Newcastle fans will have made travel and accommodation bookings once they'd purchased tickets.

A big positive for trips to Craven Cottage has been the fact it has 'neutral' sections, right next to the official away allocation.

Meaning that for Newcastle United (and other well supported clubs) the cast majority of the Putney end becomes one big away section.

In the promotion season of 2016/17, the opening Friday night of the season saw a sellout, largely down to the sheers number of Newcastle fans at the game, an estimated 7,000 or so supporting NUFC as they managed to lose the opening game.

Fulham had changed tack for this particular Newcastle game, they made it so that only Fulham fans with a previous purchase history could buy tickets in the 'neutral' sections.

The idea being that they wanted as many of their own supporters inside Craven Cottage if they still had a chance of staying up.

However, once relegation was confirmed at the start of April, Fulham instantly scrapped that idea.

They reverted back to their usual policy of selling tickets to the general public for the 'neutral' sections.

Despite tickets being twice as expensive (£60) as the official away section (Premier League rules are that you can't charge more than £30 for away tickets), Newcastle fans instantly started buying up tickets in the 'neutral' areas.

However, after three weeks of happily selling tickets to Newcastle fans and letting them book and pay for travel and accommodation, Fulham have suddenly came out with the following....

Fulham official announcement:

'Join us at Craven Cottage for the final home game of the season as the Whites take on Newcastle United on Sunday 12th May, 3pm kick-off.

Owing to restrictions imposed on the Club by the SAFETY ADVISORY GROUP, we are unable to sell tickets to away (Newcastle United) supporters.

This means that supporters who live in an NE, TD or or DH postcode will be unable to purchase.

Any electronic tickets currently purchased from fans living in these areas will be automatically cancelled and reimbursed*.

*Anyone identified as an away supporter in areas of the ground other than the designated away section will be ejected.'

A few comments on the above...

Obviously it is totally unacceptable what Fulham have done.

If such a decision is going to be made, do it BEFORE you start selling the tickets, not after the fact.

Why is there no information on how to get compensation from Fulham for any loss incurred by Newcastle fans due to them selling you tickets and booking travel/accommodation you can't now get a refund for?

Finally, how is refunding tickets only on the basis of postcode going to ensure no Newcastle fans are in the 'neutral' end?

I would assume at least 50%, probably far higher, of tickets sold for this game in the 'neutral' areas have been sold to Newcastle fans who don't have one of those postcodes. Instead, you will have a lot of NUFC supporters living down south who have bought up these tickets.

What Fulham have done will achieve absolutely nothing, apart from a lot of hassle and potential financial loss for some Newcastle fans.

Regardless of what Fulham have done, the 'neutral' end will still be predominantly Newcastle supporters.

The West London club appear to be as professional off the pitch as they have been on it this season.

The Mag – 3 April 2019:
When they are in the same division, Fulham is always a popular destination for Newcastle fans.

Craven Cottage is a ground full of character, an antidote to the characterless flatpack stadiums that have become increasingly prevalent in recent times.

Another big positive is the amount of tickets that are usually available to visiting fans.

As well as the away end, Fulham have a 'neutral' section, which usually has a mixture of tourists and additional away supporters.

For the Friday night game when the Championship season kicked off, the match ended up being  sold out with an estimated 7,000 Newcastle fans inside Craven Cottage.

Predictably the team let everybody down that night, with a lame 1-0 defeat.

For the final match of this season, sales in the neutral section had only been available to Fulham members who had a previous purchase history.

The West London club obviously hoping they would still have something to play for when meeting Newcastle United and wanting to have as many of their own fans in the ground as possible, including in the neutral section.

Tuesday night saw Fulham relegated with five games still left to play, meaning their carefully laid final match of the season plans are now redundant.

Reacting to the relegation, Fulham have relaxed the restrictions on buying tickets in the neutral section.

So now Newcastle fans (or anybody else) can now buy online in sections P1 and P2 of the Putney End, next to the official NUFC away section.

There is one small catch, as you will have to pay twice as much as the Newcastle fans in the official away section.

Premier League away tickets are capped at a maximum of £30 for adults but the neutral section at Fulham sees tickets priced at £60, in line with most home section pricing.

There aren't a lot of tickets left, so if you do want to invest £60 and see Newcastle's last match of the season, visit Fulham's ticket site HERE.

Fulham lost 4-1 at Watford last night, meaning they were 16 points adrift of safety with only 15 points to play for.

FFC Away Day Cycle 2019

31 cyclists, 130 miles, £40,000 raised, and an away win for FFC!

Easter weekend saw 31 Fulham fans complete the second annual Away Day Cycle in support of the Foundation.

Departing from Craven Cottage, and with former Whites striker Paul Peschisolido in tow, the riders cycled south via Richmond Park and Hampton Court before taking on the quieter Surrey Lanes. After 80 miles and a few hills, everyone made it into Winchester as day one came to a close. A group dinner was topped off with awards, including a signed 1998 Peschisolido shirt won by Alex Esson.

Day two included more than 40 miles through the majestic New Forest, with riders dodging the odd wild pony. Under the hot sun, and with the Foundation's community work in mind, the group pushed on. It wasn't long before cyclists made their way to Vitality Stadium, welcomed by the cheers of fellow FFC supporters.

New to the Away Day Cycle, Nathan Crosbie said of his experience: "For me, it was a faultless weekend and it was clear to see how much time, organisation and thought had gone into everything to make the whole event run as smoothly as possible, allowing us to focus on our part in fundraising and completing the cycle.

"I thought the route was really well planned with some great scenery along the way and was really well led by the ride leaders with enough rest stops to keep us going as well. Friday evening was a great way to chat with the other riders, and the presentation was a nice touch to finish off the evening.

"I had a few chats with a couple of guys on the way into Bournemouth and they shared many of the points I've just made. They also touched on how unique it was to start with our jersey hanging up in the changing rooms and also in finding a personal letter to thank us and explain how the fundraising would benefit the Foundation as well.

"All these small details will make the whole experience the more memorable for everyone and really fits the ethos of what Fulham as a football club is all about. Of course, it was great to cap it all off with a win on Saturday as well!"

On behalf of everyone at the Foundation and Club, we thank all cyclists and donors for their incredible support. The donation page remains open and we encourage all supporters to show their support by donating here: justgiving.com/Fulham2Bournemouth

Special thanks to: Teng Tools, FFC, WMP Creative, Metrobank, EnableWare, Fortis, Sigma, Rapha, Pret, Waitrose, Ironman and Kings Ferry.

Belgian police raid Anderlecht offices as they investigate Aleksandar Mitrovic's 2015 transfer to Newcastle

Mitrovic joined Newcastle in 2015 before departing for Fulham last summer Credit: AFP

Aleksandar Mitrovic's move to Newcastle United is among transfers being investigated for potential money-laundering by Belgian detectives who yesterday launched raids on the offices of Anderlecht.

Officers on Wednesday swooped on Anderlecht's stadium and training ground, as well as at the Belgian FA and player management company 'One Goal Management'.

Police sources told Belgian media that the case included investigations into Mitrovic's move to Newcastle in the summer of 2015 for £13million.  The Premier League club has yet to comment on the investigation but Brussels-based Anderlecht say they are fully cooperating. There is no suggestion of any suspicion surrounding the activities of Mitrovic or Newcastle.

A spokesman for the Belgian FA told the Reuters news agency that police had taken away documents relating to transfers from its headquarters. A spokesman for the federal prosecutor said: "We had some questions for the agents who took care of the transfers. It is a question of money laundering."

VRT and other local media said prosecutors were looking into transfers made before a 2017 change of ownership at Anderlecht and had also raided an agent's office in the capital. Among those transfers was the sale of Serbia striker Mitrovic, 24, who has since joined Fulham last summer for £22million.

The prosecutor's spokesman declined to give details of the three raids in Brussels on Wednesday. He said that they were not linked to the wide-ranging "Footballgate" probe into match-fixing and fraud which rocked the domestic league last year after the national side's third place finish at the World Cup.

The raids come at a miserable time for Anderlecht, champions in 2017 and historically Belgium's most successful club. Dismal form has prompted a fan revolt that saw them fined and docked points this month when crowd trouble forced a match at arch-rivals Standard Liege to be abandoned; they then fired coach Fred Rutten after just 13 games in charge.

Now, the two-times holders of the Cup Winners' Cup and 1983 Uefa Cup winners are on the verge of failing to qualify for European competition next season for the first time in 55 years. Mitrovic and Newcastle were not immediately available for comment.

AFC Bournemouth 0 Fulham 1 | Talking Points

A second-half penalty from Aleksandar Mitrovic earned Fulham a second successive Premier League victory and a first away win of the season as they defeated AFC Bournemouth 1-0.

Scott Parker made two changes to the side that defeated Everton a week previous at Craven Cottage as Timothy Fosu-Mensah, who has returned to parent Club Manchester United to receive treatment on a knee ligament injury, was replaced in the starting XI by Denis Odoi. The only other change saw Tom Cairney miss the match due to the birth of his child which resulted in Jean Michaël Seri starting in his stead.

The Cherries, who thrashed Brighton a week prior, slipped to a third loss in five games at the Vitality Stadium as Aleksandar Mitrovic's second-half penalty gave the Cottagers a first away victory this term. It spoiled Eddie Howe's 500th game as a manager and gave Fulham their first back-to-back Premier League victories since April 2014.

Parker, who replaced the sacked Claudio Ranieri in February, believes it is crucial to reconnect with disgruntled supporters before their return to the Championship. "Really satisfying, back-to-back wins, another clean sheet as well. It's been a good day really," he said. "Eight weeks ago, I spoke about the fans, I spoke about how distant they'd become from the team and one of my main aims was trying to bring the fans together, or certainly a lot closer to the team."

"They've been first-class, and I am really pleased that the last two games we've got two wins. OK, it's just something small in terms of how the season has gone for them but hopefully, they've had a good couple of weekends."

Wilson's performance sums up Cherries season
It has a been a season of bleak and peak performances for the Cherries and one wonders if Eddie Howe has taken them to their top potential in his time at the club. Bournemouth winger Ryan Fraser was concise, saying defeat by the already relegated Fulham "summed up" an inconsistent season of being "good one week and a shamble the next".

After scoring his 12th Premier League goal of the season in Bournemouth's 5-0 rout of Brighton a week earlier, Wilson had a forgettable afternoon and missed a sitter in the opening minutes. He had multiple chances to get what would have been his 13th goal of the season, fashioning the first shooting chance after just 55 seconds but the striker's effort was too high and did not trouble Fulham goalkeeper Sergio Rico.
David Brooks and Wilson then combined to create an opening for Ryan Fraser, the Scotsman's strike deflected for a corner. The following corner was delivered to the far post by Fraser and Nathan Ake tried to flick the ball to Wilson who was beaten to it by Rico.

Eddie Howe was his bemused in his reaction, "Tough one to take. We were so good last week, so clinical in front of goal, some of our passing and movement was of the highest quality. Today that was missing...we created the opportunities today, we got into the positions, but we didn't quite execute the finish right or the final pass and it'll be a frustration because we felt we could have won that game today."

Could Parker become the full-time manager at Craven Cottage?
Having gathered just two points on their travels all season, the odds were stacked against Fulham when they arrived on the South Coast. With their relegation to the Championship confirmed a fortnight ago, it was hard to see how the division's second leakiest defence could contain a Bournemouth side that looked so irresistible when scoring five at Brighton last Saturday.

However, after taking time to grow into the game and capitalising on the Cherries' early wastefulness, caretaker manager Scott Parker saw his side earn a victory they more than merited. "I asked the team if they could back up the performance [against Everton] and the challenge was: can we get the first away win and win two on the bounce?" Parker said.

"It was a fine performance last week and today was the same." You can see Parker doing and building all the right things, he has brought a doggedness in defence and resoluteness and discipline in midfield, much like his own playing days. For a team filled with semi stars, this could be a quality worth continuing with if they are to come back up next season.

Chances aplenty but it could be a case of mind 'on the beach' for the Cherries
The numbers were all stacked in Bournemouth's favour prior to and during the first half of this fixture, but the game went dramatically off script once Mitrovic had stroked home from the penalty spot.

The Cherries had enjoyed close to 70% of the possession in the first 20 minutes but Wilson's ballooned effort inside the first minute ended up setting the tone for an unproductive afternoon. That was the first of several gilt-edged chances that came and went for Howe's team. The reorganised Bournemouth line did struggle against the Lilywhites as Fulham craved out nine chances in the second half.

It leaves Bournemouth one victory short of what could be a club record of 13 in a Premier League season and five points adrift of their best ever points tally (46 in 2016-17). "We created enough chances to win the game, but we obviously didn't take those. We were rocked with a couple of injuries and that's never easy to take," Howe said. "The effort was there but the quality wasn't there. From last week it was the opposite, the decision making wasn't quite where it was."

'Bullish' Mitrovic could be one of the first transfer targets out, as Fulham prepare for life in the Championship
Rumoured to be a transfer target for West Ham, among other clubs, Mitrovic was in confident mood and he caused Bournemouth problems all afternoon while also grabbing the winner.

The Serbian striker won and scored a second-half penalty as Scott Parker's side chalked up back-to-back victories and the sort of performance they seemed incapable of delivering during a nine-game losing streak between February and April. He also had captain's words for the travelling long-suffering fans, who had seen them take just two points on the road all season.

"It was unbelievable; since we were relegated everywhere we go our stand is full — we have the best fans in the world, we really appreciate this," the striker said. "This season they were world class and deserve more...we need to keep fighting, playing for us, playing for them, for the club. We showed we can play in the Premier League. Of course, we are really disappointed."

Mitrovic caused problems all afternoon. A quality that could serve well for any mid-table team looking to add a striker ready to peak. The 24-year-old lashed a left-foot volley over in the first half when well placed, but made no mistake from 12 yards after drawing a foul from Simpson. His nuisance value was underlined by his five shots on goal, which was only bettered by Bournemouth winger Fraser.

What's next for both?
Bournemouth make the short trip to South Coast rivals Southampton next Saturday while Fulham bid to make it three wins on the spin when they host Cardiff on the same day.

Former Fulham defender has a warning for Cardiff City ahead of crunch clash at Craven Cottage

Tony Gale has delivered his verdict ahead of Fulham's clash with Cardiff City at Craven Cottage this weekend

Fulham may already be relegated, but they will be keen to "put down a marker" against Cardiff City on Saturday amid their bid for survival.

That's the view of former Fulham and West Ham defender Tony Gale, who believes that Cardiff beating the Whites to automatic promotion from the Championship last season will still be in the minds of the players when they take to the field at Craven Cottage.

Fulham may already be down, but they could have a big say on who joins them in the Championship, depending on the result when the Bluebirds visit west London this weekend.

And after winning their last two games - against Everton and Bournemouth - Gale believes a rejuvenated Fulham side could cause problems for Cardiff as they battle to try and stay in the top flight, with Neil Warnock's side three points behind Brighton in 17th, with an inferior goal difference.

"Depending how Brighton get on, we could effectively relegate Cardiff on Saturday, but I don't think the players will be reading too much into that - all they will be caring about is the three points," he said, writing in a column for the Fulham website .

"Whoever you're playing, it's always about the three points. But with this one, we'll want to put down a marker on Cardiff because you do remember what's gone on the previous season, without a doubt.

"They've had a better season than us, and that reflects in the points tally. I think we are better individually than Cardiff and we play better football, but they've shown so much resilience and fight in their play this season that they're still in with a shout of staying up with three games to go.

"You know full well that Neil Warnock will have his team fired up. They'll want to push Brighton all the way to the final day, so we have to be ready for that come Saturday."

Newcastle and Fulham should not hesitate to complete a swap deal for this 23-goal attacker and £20m-rated star

Newcastle United Opinion: Magpies should complete Gayle-Cairney swap deal
According to The Northern Echo, Newcastle United are interested in signing Fulham midfielder Tom Cairney in the summer, with Dwight Gayle going the other way in a swap deal.

Gayle, who has scored 23 goals for West Brom in the Championship this season, has attracted interest from Fulham, as the Cottagers plan for a season in the second tier following their relegation from the Premier League. (h/t Northern Echo)

Newcastle, on the other hand, have a long-standing interest in £20 million-rated midfielderTom Cairney, which is expected to resurface when Isaac Hayden leaves the club in the summer. (h/t Northern Echo)

Benitez's contract at Tyneside is set to expire at the end of the season and the Spaniard is yet to extend his stay, as he waits to see what kind of budget the club allots him in the summer.

If Benitez does continue as the manager beyond the current season, he is likely to bring in some fresh faces to add more depth and quality to his squad.

Meanwhile, Fulham are likely to lose some of their star players in the summer after getting relegated, with Aleksandar Mitrovic being amongst those to have been linked with a move elsewhere. The Serb has hit double figures for Fulham in the Premier League and he is unlikely to stick around in the Championship.

The Cottagers would need to bolster their attack in the summer and find a replacement for Mitrovic if they are to secure promotion back to the Premier Leauge in the first time of asking.

And Dwight Gayle, despite his struggles in the top-flight over the years, has shown what a lethal a striker he can be at the Championship level.

The 28-year-old netted 23 goals in the second division in the 2016-17 season to fire Newcastle back to the Premier League and he has replicated that feat once again at West Brom this time around, though it remains to be seen whether the Baggies manage to get themselves back to the top-flight.

Nevertheless, Gayle is a proven source of goals at the Championship level and undoubtedly, the perfect man to propel Fulham to a promotion-winning campaign next term.

The Northern Echo claims that Gayle has no future at Newcastle and he would be prepared to stay at West Brom permanently, though Fulham also have a good chance of getting their hands on him come the end of the season.

Speaking about Tom Cairney, the Scotsman hasn't had the kind of impact at Fulham in the Premier League as many would have expected, with injuries forcing him to spend considerable time on the sidelines.

However, he rose to the occasion last week and scored with a brilliant left-footed effort in Fulham's 2-0 victory over Everton, showing exactly why Newcastle want to sign him in the summer.

The Magpies are at risk of losing several of their first-team central midfield options and Cairney, with his solid well-rounded attributes, should be a good fit at Tyneside.

Issac Hayden has been one of the standout performers for Newcastle this season but he is likely to complete a move away the north-east to stay closer to his family (h/t Shields Gazette). Mo Diame has been a useful long-term servant to the club but the Senegalese ace might also head for the exit door, as the Magpies are unwilling to hand him a long-term contract at the age of 31 (h/t Chronicle Live).

Sean Longstaff has enjoyed an impressive breakthrough season at St.James' Park and Ki-Sung Yueng has done reasonably well but Jonjo Shelvey has struggled for form and fitness, which might prompt Newcastle to cash in on him at the end of the season.

An intelligent midfielder noted for his vision, impressive range of distribution and quality on the ball, Cairney has a knack of turning the game on its head with defence-splitting through balls and key passes.

He likes to drive forward and makes those late runs into the dangerous areas in and around the penalty area, which should add another dimension to Newcastle's existing options.

Furthermore, Cairney is more than capable of holding things together and cutting out attacks with his wonderful understanding of the game.

Gayle and Cairney are both aged 28 and are pretty much at the prime of their careers. While Newcastle should look at Cairney in a bid to solve their central midfield dilemma, Fulham should relish having a striker of Dwight Gayle's pedigree in the Championship next season.

Swap deals in the transfer market don't come off too often but it looks as if this one might just materialize, as it would be deal for all parties involved.

Why Neil Lennon won't be going to Fulham if Celtic want him

Neil Lennon has, in recent days, had to brush off talk of speculation linking him with Fulham.

Indeed, the Celtic interim manager has said that it's "all noise" when asked about the Craven Cottage outfit. And that's hardly a surprise either.

The truth is, if Fulham truly want Lennon, they can forget it for now. The Northern Irishman has already had to dismiss interest in the Scotland job, which recently became vacant too.

And, if a decision was to be made between Celtic and Fulham, just who do you think Lennon would choose? It's safe to assume Lennon wants this job permanently. Interestingly, he hasn't actually confirmed that's the case, but it's hardly rocket science either.

Only Celtic fans can truly understand the connection Lennon has with the club. He's a Parkhead legend, and has been a massive success here as both a player and a manager. When you talk about great Celtic captains, Lennon is right up there. When you talk about successful Celtic managers, he again holds his own.

No guarantees Lennon gets the Celtic job

Granted, that's not to say he definitely will get the Celtic job permanently. He's hardly won over the Celtic faithful, and the sluggish performances since he came into the job are difficult to shrug off.

But Fulham, like Scotland, are simply looking at the right man at the wrong time. Lennon could very easily make his mark down in England with the right club, but will he even be interested if the carrot of the Celtic job remains available? If we're being honest, Lennon will likely have his eye on the treble treble and then sealing this role permanently.

Fulham's relegation to the Championship also doesn't help them. They now don't even have the carrot of England's top league to lure Lennon south.

But the reality is, any realistic club that wants Lennon will likely have to hope he fails at Celtic. If all goes well for the Northern Irishman and the job is offered to him? You would be surprised if it takes him long to think it over.

Fulham could end up being just one of a number of clubs interested in Lenny. But, for Celtic fans who want Lennon to stay beyond the end of the season, there's nothing to worry about. We all know who his first choice is.

Defender left 'disappointed' after 'exceptional' Fulham transfer was blocked

Officially relegated back down to the Championship, Fulham's spending spree both last summer and in January failed to secure their spot in England's top tier for more than a season.

One of their priorities in the January transfer window was a centre-back, leaving everything very late, which led to some rather interesting names being mentioned as potential targets.

Alongside Michael Ngadeu Ngadjui, who never signed, was Club Brugge's Benoit Poulain, who also failed to secure a transfer to Craven Cottage after his club blocked his exit.

Fulham reportedly made three separate bids for the French defender, all turned away by the Belgian club who wanted to ensure their team remained as strong as possible as they attempted to mount a title challenge this season.

This, according to Sport/Foot this week, left the 31-year-old 'disappointed', seeing an 'exceptional transfer and salary' (rumoured to be €2m/year) pass him by.

Reaching the back end of his career, Poulain will have wanted a chance to prove himself at the highest of levels, and has only featured four times for his side since January.

Even if Fulham did fail to stay up, this likely was the opportunity of a lifetime for the Frenchman, and one he probably won't see come his way again

Versatile: How Ryan Sessegnon could fit in at Tottenham if he joins this summer

Ryan Sessegnon has again been linked with a move to Tottenham this week, with the Fulham defender said to be certain to leave the Cottagers at the end of the season.

Of course, the teenager has bags of talent and potential, but he proved last season that he's already a level above the Championship, and a move to a major power like Spurs seems like an obvious step.

Naturally, whenever talk of a new signing is discussed, attention regularly turns to how they'd fit in, and in the case of Sessegnon, that will be no different.

That said, he's fortunate in that he's able to play in a number of roles, and so for Tottenham, he could be a very versatile option.

Here are TWO ways in which Sessegnon could fit in at Tottenham...

Option 1 – Left Wing-Back

Though originally a left back, you could argue that Sessegnon is far more suited to a role on the left of a back-five, which could make sense at Tottenham – given the fact that Mauricio Pochettino has utilised this system in the past.

Playing here allows his defensive misgivings to become less prominent, given that he'd be covered by a left-sided centre half. This is somewhat similar to Chelsea's system under Antonio Conte, which masked the defensive frailties of Marcos Alonso by allowing Antonio Rudiger to cover for him.

He'd still be given licence to run up and down the field and attack, but he'd also be expected to defend well. He's certainly got the ability to do both of those jobs.

With so much experience and quality around him, this may be a good role for him as he continues to develop.

Option 2 – Left Wing

This position has been more of a regular spot for Sessegnon in recent times, as it allows him to focus on what most would agree is his best area of play – the attacking phase.

He's able to make use of his fantastic dribbling, technique and crossing  – making him a real asset down the left flank of the Spurs midfield.

Of course, this would depend on the future of Christian Eriksen, who largely has dominated this position for the last few years. He, however, has been linked with a move to Real Madrid – potentially opening up a spot in the team for someone like Sessegnon.

For his part, the Englishman still has a lot of developing to do, but in time, perhaps he'd be able to match the lethality that Eriksen provides.

With great pace, too, he'd be able to get up and down the line with relative ease.
