Tottenham close in on deal for Fulham starlet Ryan Sessegnon as club aim to quell any doubts Mauricio Pochettino has about ambition

Tottenham are closing in on a deal for Fulham teenage star Ryan Sessegnon
Fulham want £40million for Sessegnon but Tottenham want to pay £25million
Sessegnon wants to stay in top flight, with Tottenham his preferred destination

Tottenham are aiming to nullify any doubts Mauricio Pochettino has about the club's ambition with an early swoop for Ryan Sessegnon.

Pochettino has gone on record to say he wants new signings to arrive as early possible in order to integrate them into his squad as quickly as possible ahead of the season.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy, however, has a reputation as someone who prefers to strike deals towards the latter stages of transfer windows.

But the north London club have changed tack this summer with a deal for Sessegnon already in the offing, while they have also made overtures regarding Barcelona's Andre Gomes, who spent last season on loan at Everton.

Spurs are in pole position to land Fulham youngster Sessegnon, though Paris Saint-Germain retain a serious interest.

Craven Cottage chiefs are aware of Tottenham's interest in the talented left-footer and now Fulham's season is over, Spurs will look to conclude a swift deal.

Fulham value Sessegnon at £40million - but Tottenham want to pay closer to £25million.

Despite the discrepancy in valuation, it is expected a middle ground will be found in the coming days.

The 18-year-old has been a primary target for Spurs for almost two years, but the Champions League finalists are growing increasingly confident of finally getting a deal over the line.

Sessegnon wants to remain in the Premier League, with a move to Tottenham understood to be his preferred destination.

Once Spurs and Fulham agree a fee, the transfer should be concluded quickly.

Pochettino's future at Tottenham has been plunged into doubt in recent days, despite their epic comeback against Ajax last week that booked their place in the Champions League final.

Speaking on Friday, the Argentine intimated he could walk away from Spurs at the end of the season if he feels the club aren't serious about building on this season's brilliant achievement in Europe.

But their early move for Sessegnon and Gomes will help to convince Pochettino that he will be provided with the resources to strengthen his squad this summer.

Club now set to make offer for Fulham man, Barcelona player also an option

Following recent claims Fenerbahce are interested in Fulham goalkeeper Fabri, Turkish website Sporx today report the Yellow Canaries are set to make a loan offer for the Spaniard.

We covered initial reports from Turkey that Fenerbahce are interested in signing Fabri, and Sporx say he remains a target for the Istanbul club, along with Barcelona's Jasper Cillessen.

Barca's Dutch stopper is thought to be available for around €25-30m, and a move to Turkey seems unlikely.

Sporx reports the Turkish club have started to make moves to sign the Fulham player, who is likely to leave Craven Cottage during the upcoming transfer window.

Since joining from Besiktas last summer, Fabri has made just two Premier League appearances for the London side and may need to find a new club for next season.

According to recent reports, Fenerbahce manager Ersun Yanal is behind the pursuit of Fabri.

The 31-year old goalkeeper has also been linked with a move to his former club Besiktas as they look for a possible replacement for Liverpool loanee Loris Karius.

Fabri is under contract at Fulham until June 2021.

HAMMERS KEEN ON MITROVIC

West Ham are considering a summer move for Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic, according to the Evening Standard.

Previous reports have suggested that Celta Vigo forward Maxi Gomez is on the club's radar, and the newspaper now reports that Gomez is indeed the Hammers' number one choice.

However, the report also says that Mitrovic – who scored 11 Premier League goals with relegated Fulham last season – is the next-best choice for Manuel Pellegrini's side.

Mitrovic is prolific for his country, with 23 goals in 47 games for Serbia.

Good move for West Ham?

Most definitely. With Mexico international Javier Hernandez not enjoying the most fruitful of campaigns at the London Stadium – scoring only seven Premier League goals in 25 appearances –  and Carroll set to leave, the Hammers need another striker to act as backup for Marko Arnautovic, who has asserted himself as the club's main forward. If trying to sign Gomez does not come off, Mitrovic would be the perfect second choice. Although he only scored 11 league goals in the top flight compared to the 12 in 17 appearances he netted while on loan at Fulham in the 2017/18 campaign, it is clear that the Serbian international has an eye for goal and he would be a brilliant impact substitute.

Likely to happen?

Potentially. It looks as if Gomez is their top target, but the Evening Standard report says that the Uruguayan has a £43.5million release clause in his contract, which will be lowered to £22million if Celta Vigo are relegated. But with one game to go, they are three points clear and are all but safe, so it would seem another hefty fee will be needed to secure his services. Mitrovic, on the other hand, would command a much lower figure and may be the better option.

Everton are very interested in signing Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic this summer, Sky Sports News understands.

Aleksandar Mitrovic in action for Fulham against Everton in April

Fulham do not want to sell the 24-year-old but the player is understood to want to play in the Premier League again next season.

Everton want to add a new centre-forward to their squad and Mitrovic is high on their list of targets after the domestic transfer window opened on Thursday.

The Serbia international, who signed for an initial £22m from Newcastle last summer, scored 11 goals in 39 appearances as Fulham were relegated after just one campaign back in the top flight.

Mitrovic had been instrumental in their promotion season under Slavisa Jokanovic, after joining on loan for the second half of the 2017-18 season and firing them into the play-offs with 12 goals in 17 Championship games.

Everton want to sign him and are also understood to be in the market for a new winger, central midfielder, centre-back, right-back and backup goalkeeper for Jordan Pickford, Sky Sports News understands.

Manchester United contact Fulham over Ryan Sessegnon deal

Ryan Sessegnon has attracted interest from Manchester United

Manchester United have made initial contact with Fulham over the potential signing of Ryan Sessegnon, Sky Sports News understands.

Tottenham and Juventus are also understood to be interested in the youngster, who will turn 19 on Saturday, but United are the only team to have approached Fulham so far.

Sessegnon is understood to be reluctant to play another season in the Championship following Fulham's relegation after just one term in the top flight, and United want to add young home-grown talent to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's squad.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has admitted Manchester United are set for a big summer, but can they attract the big-name players to Old Trafford after their failure to qualify for the Champions League?

And there is understood to be an acceptance at Fulham that the time maybe right to let Sessegnon move on, especially given he has just one year remaining on his contract.

Sessegnon had a difficult first season in the Premier League, having been instrumental in Fulham's promotion campaign of 2017-18.He was in and out of the side under Claudio Ranieri, who succeeded Slavisa Jokanovic last November, and played on the right-wing under Ranieri's successor Scott Parker to accommodate Ryan Babel.

Ryan Sessegnon was non-committal over whether Fulham's relegation from the Premier League will affect his future with the club.

Sessegnon was non-committal over whether Fulham's relegation from the Premier League will affect his future with the club.

Despite this, Sessegnon remains one of the most sought-after young players in England, with more than 100 senior appearances to his name at just 18 years old.

Sessegnon is a product of Fulham's successful category-one academy along with his twin brother Steven, and has represented England at every youth level from U16 to U21.

Fulham set sights on signing Middlesbrough 26-year-old on big wages

Fulham are eyeing a move for Middlesbrough striker Britt Assombalonga to fire them back to the Premier League, Football Insider understands.

Assombalonga's future at the Riverside Stadium has been the subject of speculation for some time with a number of clubs showing an interest in his services.

Fulham are set to be in the market for striking reinforcements this summer in case they lose Aleksandar Mitrovic in the wake of their relegation from the Premier League.

A Fulham source has told Football Insider the club believe Assombalonga could be an ideal replacement for Mitrovic as is a proven goalscorer at Championship level and can also lead the line on his own like the Serbian does.

The Cottagers are set to have a hefty budget in the transfer window this summer armed with the Premier League parachute payments and they have no issues with Assombalonga's fee or significant wages.

Money man: Fulham owner Shahid Khan could be in line for a windfall

The 26-year-old has finished as Boro's top scorer in each of his two seasons at the club following his £15million move from Nottingham Forest in the summer of 2017.

Middlesbrough may be forced to cash-in on Assombalonga this summer after missing out on promotion to the Premier League and Fulham are ready to test Boro's resolve to hang onto the player.

Dwight Gayle next club odds: How Fulham and Leeds United are priced

The Newcastle United striker could be shipped out once again next season

West Brom have confirmed that Dwight Gayle will not be returning to The Hawthorns next season.

Albion's top scorer for the recently ended campaign has headed back to parent club Newcastle United following the Baggies' play-off exit at the semi-final stage.

Despite hopes that Albion might be able to strike a deal to bring Championship hotshot Gayle back to B71 ahead of their second season back in the second tier, sporting director Luke Dowling has confirmed that the club is not in a position financially to extend his stay.

It's a development that has only added to the uncertainty involving the two clubs, who also have to resolve the situation regarding Salomon Rondon.

With Rafael Benitez holding talks with the Magpies' hierarchy, including owner Mike Ashley, ahead of the expiry of his own contract this summer, there's a state of limbo on Tyneside.

What does the new season hold for Gayle, then?

The 28-year-old has two years remaining on his current deal on Tyneside, but it remains to be seen whether Benitez - or indeed his successor - has plans to utilise him in the Premier League.

With Albion out of the running, their Championship rivals are likely to take a big interest in a player who is likely at the peak of his powers; in his last two campaigns in the Championship (75 matches) Gayle has netted an astonishing 47 goals.

Leeds United have been urged to make a move for Gayle, who would provide the Whites with the firepower that they lacked as they too fell in the play-offs this term.

Newly relegated Fulham have also been tipped to look at a deal; the Cottagers have been interested in Gayle previously and will be likely in the market for a forward if as expected Aleksandar Mitrovic departs.

The very latest odds on the club Gayle will end up at still includes the Baggies.

Poch Wants Both Brothers

The Ryan Sessegnon to Spurs story has been rumbling along for some time, a hallmark of all too many of out transfer targets.

A source close to Tottenham Hotspur Football Club tells the Harry Hotspur blog that Pochettino doesn't just want Ryan, the gaffer would very much like to also take Steven Sessegnon too.

Twin brother Steven is a versatile youngster has been described as a capable full-back and or centre-half.

This season saw him make the Fulham first team's bench on 4 occasions, the closest he's come to making his professional breakthrough yet. Prior to this, the 18 year old has woprked his way through the Fluham Academy ranks, playing for teh U18s and U23s.

What interests me about this ITK is that it suggests that the boys are both of decent character.

It is frankly futile to make any class of assessment about either lad, both have been playing for a side that has been for 90% of the season had the smell of doom about it.

The obvious negative – as hinted earlier – this is another one that has been on the boil for so long, one cannot help but feel the momentum will have been somewhat diminished.

Exclusive: Newcastle plot move to sign £6m Fulham player wanted by Benitez

Newcastle are plotting a move to sign Fulham defender Joe Bryan this summer, Football Insider understands.

The north-east giants have held a long-term interest in Bryan and considered a move for the full-back prior to his move to Fulham from Bristol City last summer.

Fulham are now facing a fight to keep hold of their best players in the wake of relegation and a Newcastle source has told Football Insider the club are ready to test the Londoners' resolve to hang onto Bryan.

Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez is looking to add another left-back to his ranks ahead of next season and is an admirer of the Fulham left-back.

Antonio Barreca set to return to Monaco after his loan spell at St James' Park and Bryan, who signed for Fulham for £6million last summer August, is among the Spanish manager's top targets.

Bryan would fit the bill for Benitez as he can play at left-back or left wing-back, with Newcastle playing with a system of advanced wide defenders during the last couple of months of the season.

The former Bristol City star made 29 appearances in all competitions for Fulham this season, but could not prevent them from suffering relegation from the Premier League.

Fulham identify Aleksandar Mitrovic replacements after setting £30m price for striker

Fulham have identified Dwight Gayle and Britt Assombalonga as possible replacements for Aleksandar Mitrovic if the Serb leaves Craven Cottage.

Mitrovic is expected to exit Fulham this summer following their relegation from the Premier League, with West Ham and Crystal Palace both interested in a move for him.

Fulham believe Newcastle forward Gayle and Middlesbrough frontman Assombalonga could score the goals to fire them to promotion in the Championship next season.

The Cottagers could hold out for at least £30million for Mitrovic and new manager Scott Parker would have funds to reinvest in the squad.

Gayle, 28, scored 24 goals on loan at West Brom in the Championship this season. Newcastle want £20m for former Crystal Palace striker.

Assombalonga, 26, found the net 14 times this season for Middlesbrough, who want to recoup the £15m they paid Nottingham Forest for him in 2017.

Fulham targeting La Liga defender, contacts made, player fancies the move

As Fulham prepare their big changes for the Championship season, they've reportedly found one of their first targets for the transfer window.

According to El Desmarque in Spain, the club are interested in Levante defender Chema. They've targeted him as a player who can help their plans of returning to the Premier League.

It's said the Whites have already made contact with the player's entourage. And the response is pretty positive, since the defender believes it would be a good move for his career.

With only 1410 minutes played this season, Chema hasn't been much used by Levante, so although El Desmarque doesn't say how much will he cost, it doesn't sound like the Spanish side will make his departure very difficult.

Chema is mainly a central defender, but is also able to play at right back, so would give a little versatility to Fulham if he joins.

The reports sounds positive for the Cottagers' chances.

Sheffield United transfer EXCLUSIVE: Blades want £1.5m Croatian star, Fulham keen too

The versatile HNK Rijeka centre-half, 27, was named man of the match in his club's shock cup final victory against Dinamo Zagreb last week.

Fulham came close to landing Zuparic, who can also operate as a holding midfielder, in the January window.

And despite relegation into the second tier, the Londoners remain keen on the former-Croatia Under-21 international.

Zuparic has just a year left on his contract, making him a bargain option for the Blades.

"We've been in discussions with Manchester United and I think they see it as a positive that he gets a year of Premier League football under his belt.

"I know Dean definitely wants to stop and our supporters absolutely adore him.

"We've got a good relationship with Manchester United and if Dean signs we'll be delighted.

"He's been outstanding since he's been at the club. He had a fantastic loan period at Shrewsbury, he's kicked on and has a wonderful future ahead of him."

Fulham fans react as Newcastle reportedly target £6m Joe Bryan

Newcastle United failed to sign Joe Bryan in 2018 but they reportedly want him again after Fulham were relegated from the Premier League.

Joe Bryan of Fulham is closed down by Kieran Trippier of Tottenham during the Premier League match between Fulham FC and Tottenham Hotspur at Craven Cottage on January 20, 2019 in London,...

Bright spots were few and far between as Fulham made a dog's dinner of their one and only season back in the Premier League.

Big name signings like Jean Michel Seri, Andre-Franck Zambo Anguissa and Maxime Le Marchand made a mockery of their expensive price-tags as The Cottagers finished 19th in the table. But at least Joe Bryan represented good value for money.

A £6 million deadline-day signing from Bristol City last August, the left-back was forced to wait for his Premier League chance after an injury-hit start to life at Craven Cottage. Once he had regained his fitness, however, Bryan immediately established himself in the starting XI and never looked back.

And with the Northern Echo reporting that Newcastle United are looking to take advantage of Fulham's relegation and snap up a player they missed out on a year ago, Bryan's first season at the Cottage could well be his last.

The Magpies have needed a quality left-back since Davide Santon's heyday and Bryan, a swashbuckling wideman renowned for his pinpoint deliveries, would be a major upgrade on Antonio Barreca and Javi Manquillo.

And his exit would certainly leave Fulham fans disappointed.

FULHAM LINKED WITH REPUBLIC OF IRELAND MIDFIELDER AS THE QUEST FOR PROMOTION GETS SET TO START IN EARNEST

I get the impression that climbing back into the Premier League, after being relegated, could be a task we have to get right-first-time or else we could well spend some time in the wilderness that is the Championship.

With the squad set to undertake a shuffle this summer, an inevitable occurrence courtesy of our dream going sour, it is essential that the board, prompted by Scott Parker, bring in the right kind of player.

To climb back into the top-flight, we need to keep the nucleus of our side but add two or three experienced Championship players, players who have tasted the sweet success promotion brings.

This morning, the local media source, the Bournemouth Echo, is linking Fulham with one such player, Harry After.

Arter, still a mere 29-years-of-age, is back at Bournemouth, after a season-long loan deal with Cardiff City.

The Republic of Ireland international midfielder is said to be interesting Fulham and I'm of the opinion that he is just the kind of player we need to assist us in embarking on what we all hope will be a promotion season.

Liverpool have become the latest team to enter the race for Fulham teenager Ryan Sessegnon.

Sessesgnon was outstanding in the Championship the season before last, scoring 15 goals as the Cottagers won promotion via the play offs.

However, it was much more difficult for both him and the club last season as he never demonstrated his ability in the Premier League as Fulham went down with a whimper.

However, his potential has still kept several clubs on alert, with Tottenham, Arsenal, and Manchester United all linked with the 19-year-old, who has just 12 months remaining on his current deal.

Now, Liverpool have supposedly entered the race for the player who grew up supporting the club, and are set to make a bid this summer.

They are keen to strengthen their left side with Alberto Moreno's release confirmed after the Champions League final.

Hi twin brother Steven, who has represented England at youth level with Ryan but not developed as quickly, may also be included in the deal.
