Fulham eye Chalobah loan deal

Fulham are lining up a loan move for the talented Chelsea teenager Trevoh Chalobah.

The nineteen year-old, who can play either in central defence or midfield, spent the 2018/2019 season with Ipswich, scoring twice in 43 appearances, in an ultimately disappointing campaign for the Portman Road club, who were relegated. Chalobah, the younger brother of Watford midfielder Nathaniel, has been linked with a loan move to West Brom already this summer and is likely to be allowed to leave Stamford Bridge on a temporary basis again to further his development.

Fulham successfully utilised the loan market during their last spell in the Championship and twice took Tomas Kalas and Lucas Piazon on loan from their local rivals. Chalobah, who was part of the England under-19 squad that won the European Championships in 2017 alongside Ryan Sessegnon, starred in the Chelsea youth set-up but has struggled for an opportunity at senior level, despite being named on the bench for the FA Cup final win over Manchester United in 2018 by Antonio Conte.

Leeds star Pontus Jansson wanted by Fulham as Scott Parker plans promotion charge

FULHAM are targeting Leeds star Pontus Jansson as they look to add much needed steel to the club's defence.

The west Londoners struggled at the back last season, conceding more goals than any other Premier League team as they were relegated back to the Championship.

Scott Parker took charge of Fulham at the back end of the campaign and managed to steady the ship, albeit too late to avoid demotion.

Parker deployed Calum Chambers as holding midfielder ahead of his preferred centre back pairing of Tim Ream and Maxime Le Marchand.

But the Arsenal loanee has returned to his parent club and is unlikely to be back at Craven Cottage for a second campaign.

And according to Daily Telegraph football news correspondent Matt Law, Fulham want to bolster their defensive options by bringing in Jansson from Leeds.

"Hearing Fulham are very keen on trying to sign Pontus Jansson from Leeds," the journalist tweeted.

The Sweden international defender has plied his trade at Elland Road for the last three seasons, becoming something of a cult figure in the process.

But after yet another failed promotion bid, Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa is planning wholesale changes this summer.

The Argentine manager dropped Jansson for the Peacocks' dramatic play-off semi-final second-leg defeat to Derby.

And while he has spoken of his love for Leeds, a move to Fulham could prove tempting as he has just 12 months remaining on his contract.

"I think as a player you have to respect and know your club, know the history, know how big the club is," Jansson told FourFourTwo in May.

"I really know what this club means to people, so for me it's a responsibility; you have to do something for the club.

"I had an offer to leave last summer, and I said to my agent, 'I don't want to leave Leeds in this way'.

"I didn't want people to remember me for negative things, thinking, 'This guy didn't care about the club'."

Leeds paid Torino £3.5m for the 28-year-old, who spent six months on loan at the Yorkshire club at the club before making the move permanent in February 2017.

Leeds United Set To Confirm Sale of Fulham Target Pontus Jansson

Leeds United are set to confirm the exit of defender Pontus Jansson, who has been linked with Fulham, within the next 48 hours.

Jansson has been told not to report for pre-season training at Leeds until 12th July, a date which would mean him missing the club's tour to Australia.

It has further added to speculation that the centre-back will be on the move this summer and it appears Leeds are set to sell him soon.

There is an offer of £5.5m on the table for Jansson from an unnnamed English club, according to former Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Phil Hay.

The Whites are set to now confirm Jansson's exit from Elland Road within the next 48 hours.

Losing the powerful centre-back will be a blow for the Championship side and it remains to be seen if they have zeroed in on a replacement.

Jansson's committed displays for Leeds have seen him win the favour of many fans.

However, it is claimed that there has been a breakdown in the relationship between the player and the club.

He has been linked with Fulham this summer, while a switch to the Premier League has often been talked up for the Sweden international defender.

Brentford transfer activity should inspire Fulham hope in Ezri Konsa pursuit
Brentford appear to have secured two new centre-backs giving Fulham hope of a £12 million deal.

Fulham may have been given a boost in their transfer pursuit of England under-21 international Ezri Konsa.

It appears Brentford are closing in on a deal for Leeds United defender Pontus Jansson. West London Sport is reporting that the Swedish international could make a £5 million move this summer. The report claims Brentford are 'close to sealing' the transfer.

The Yorkshire Evening Post has suggested a fee closer to £5.5 million, but regardless, it seems Brentford have another centre-back arriving from Yorkshire.

The Bees have already secured a deal for Ethan Pinnock this summer. The Barnsley man joined in a deal reported by the Yorkshire Post to be worth £3 million.

This £8.5 million splurge on defenders could certainly give Fulham renewed hope of a transfer deal of their own.

Fulham, who themselves were recently linked with Jansson, are seemingly keen on the England under-21 international.

Sky Sports reported last week that the Cottagers are interested in meeting his £12 million release clause. That clause is reportedly not as cut and dry as bid and accept. Brentford are said to 'have other contractual protections in place' even if a rival meets the £12 million fee.

So it seems a deal is not automatic, if Fulham, for example, met the clause.

However, now that Brentford seemingly have replacements covered, such a deal has never looked more likely.

If Fulham are ready to raid their West London rivals, now might be the perfect time to do so.

WOLVES PLAYER ON THE VERGE OF MOLINEUX EXIT WITH CLUB SET TO SEAL LOAN DEAL

Fulham are set to sign Ivan Cavaleiro from Wolves, reports The Telegraph's John Percy.

The move would see the winger join on a season-long loan with an option in place to make the move permanent should The Cottagers wish to.

The Portuguese player has been in-demand for much of the summer, with Huddersfield previously linked, but it seems Fulham have won the race to sign him.

Cavaleiro struggled for game time last season, making just 23 Premier League appearances, only six of which were starts.

The 25-year-old really impressed in his last spell in the Championship. His pace and direct style turned Wolves into a real attacking force after his £7m move from Monaco, and he played a big role in Wolves' 2018 title win.

He scored nine goals and made 12 assists that season, and Fulham will hope he can contribute in a similar fashion in order to help them to promotion.

The Verdict

This is an astute signing from Fulham and their attacking options suddenly look a lot more threatening. Cavaleiro's pace will be a great weapon this season and his ability to take on defenders should prove invaluable.

He is a great player to have when playing counter-attacking football too, so in those big matches away from home he could really be the decisive factor, and those matches are ultimately what decide promotion.

Cavaleiro knows the division too and he will be raring to go after a frustrating season mostly spent on the sidelines. If he can channel that energy into performances then he should be one to look out for this season.

EXCLUSIVE: Fulham leading chase for £5m Everton midfielder

Fulham are leading the chase to land Everton midfielder Mo Besic this summer, TEAMtalk understands.

The Bosnia international has been told he is not part of Marco Silva's plans at Goodison Park, having spent the last 18 months on-loan at Middlesbrough.

Now Everton are looking to sell him and it is understood Fulham are set to meet the £5million asking price to land the 26-year-old – beating a host of clubs his signature.

German-born Besic is believed to have interest from the Bundesliga, Ligue 1 and Serie A – but he will turn down the chance to move to the continent to stay in England with Fulham.

The Cottagers are looking to rebuild this summer after being relegated from the Premier League last season.

FULHAM IDENTIFY PREMIER LEAGUE TRANSFER TARGET

Fulham has made contact with Premier League side Brighton about the potential signing of attacking midfielder Anthony Knockaert, The Sun has reported.

The London side are keen to make an immediate return to the Premier League following their relegation after just a single year in the top flight last season and have reportedly identified Knockaert as someone who can help them do that.

It is thought that Fulham see Knockaert as a player who can provide them with goals and creativity from the attacking wide areas, following the departures of Andre Schurrle and Ryan Babel, as well as Ryan Sessegnon's anticipated move from Fulham.

Knockaert does have proven pedigree in winning promotion to the Premier League, having been named Championship Player of the Year in 2017 as Brighton finished runners up to Newcastle to secure promotion to the top flight.

While no official bid has been made, initial talks are said to have seen discussions about a £15million transfer fee, with Knockaert thought to be willing to take the step down to the Championship due to the prospect of an increase in his wages to £40,000 a week.

Since joining Brighton from Belgian side Standard Liege in January 2016, Knockaert has made 139 appearances and scored 27 goals in all competitions for the Seagulls.

There are currently three years remaining on the 27-year-old's current contract at The AMEX Stadium, which is set to run until the summer of 2022.

The Verdict

What a signing this could be for Fulham.

Knockaert has already shown during his time at Brighton that he is more than capable of helping teams out of this division, and seems to be just what Fulham need as they look for a quick response to last season's dismal relegation.

With Aleksandar Mitrovic having signed a new contract and a loan move for Wolves' Ivan Cavaleiro apparently close to completion, adding Knockaert would surely complete a three-pronged attack that would cause problems for any defence in the division.

This would be a big statement from Fulham, and it is interesting to note the starting fee discussed sits at £15million, which appears to suggest that Fulham has not been put off spending big by the disastrous campaign that followed their big-spending summer of 12 months ago.

Report: Everton's Mo Besic wants to join Fulham in £5m move

Everton's Mo Besic is reportedly heading back to the Championship with Fulham despite Bundesliga and Serie A interest.

Everton midfielder Mo Besic could be on his way to Fulham, with TEAMtalk claiming that the Cottagers are leading the chase to sign the £5 million-rated Bosnian international.

It has been a busy day on the speculation front in West London. The Sun claims that Fulham are considering a £15 million move for Brighton and Hove Albion winger Anthony Knockaert who, just two years ago, was posing with the Championship Player of the Year award after a 15-goal season inspired the Seagulls to promotion.

Should he arrive, coupled with Besic's addition in midfield, Scott Parker's recently-relegated side would appear to have a far better chance of returning to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

After all, Besic will certainly provide the kind of bite a Fulham side who conceded 81 league goals last season so desperately need in central midfield.

Fulham are ready to pay his £5 million price-tag and the 26-year-old is willing to turn down clubs in France, Italy and Germany to seal a move to Craven Cottage.

This looks like quite the coup then, particularly as Besic has plenty of Championship experience in his locker now after spending the last 18 months hassling and harrying opposition forwards in the red of Middlesbrough.

Tottenham set to sign Ryan Sessegnon from Fulham and two players could move in exchange

Tottenham are edging closer to completing their third signing of the summer with Ryan Sessegnon set to join in a deal worth £20m plus add-ons.

The 19-year-old has been tipped to move to Spurs for some time and there has finally been a breakthrough in discussions between the two clubs for the England U21 international.

According to the Daily Telegraph, Fulham's interest in Josh Onomah and Georges-Kevin Nkoudou has helped the deal progress with both players no longer required at Spurs.

Although Fulham are interested in the pair, it is unclear whether they will be included in the deal for Sessegnon or whether they will be bought separately with the funds raised from his sale.

Onomah, 22, has spent the past two seasons on loan in the Championship with Aston Villa and Sheffield Wednesday, while Nkoudou, 24, has had spells with Burnley and Monaco.

Nkoudou's only Premier League appearance for Spurs last season came in a four-minute cameo against Fulham in January when he supplied an injury-time assist for Harry Winks.

Neither player was included in Spurs' pre-season tour squad to Singapore and China and were left at home in London along with Danny Rose and Vincent Janssen who are also up for sale.

Spurs were linked with a move for Sessegnon last summer before Fulham's promotion to the Premier League scuppered their chances of striking a deal.

However, Fulham's immediate relegation to the Championship coupled with Sessegnon's contract expiring next summer galvanised Spurs' interest.

Should Spurs seal a deal for Sessegnon, he will become the club's third new signing, following on Jack Clark and Tanguy Ndombele, bought from Leeds United and Lyon respectively.

Sessegnon has had plenty of suitors recently including Manchester United, RB Leipzig and Inter, but he has expressed his desire to work alongside Mauricio Pochettino.

Although Sessegnon has predominantly played as a left-winger for Fulham, he is being lined up as Rose's long-term replacement at left-back at Spurs.

FULHAM CLOSE IN ON 27-YEAR-OLD

It is 'likely' that Levante defender Chema will join Fulham in the current transfer window, Spanish outlet El Desmarque have reported.

A 27-year-old centre back who can also play at right-back, Chema is said to have received an offer from Fulham to move to Craven Cottage, and it is expected that the Spaniard will make the move to London before the window closes in little over two weeks.

That is in part due to what is described as a 'complicated' situation for Chema at Levante, where the defender is about to enter the final 12 months of his contract.

Up until now Chema has spent the entirety of his career in his native Spain, and has made 81 appearances in all competitions for Levante since joining from Alcorcon in the summer of 2016, helping them win promotion to La Liga during his debut season with the club, who are now about to enter their third straight season in the Spanish top flight.

Fulham have so far made two senior signings in the summer transfer window, with wingers Ivan Cavaleiro and Anthony Knockaert both joining on season-long loans from Wolves and Brighton respectively.

The Verdict

This is a big boost for Fulham.

The Cottagers look somewhat short on defensive options right now, so bringing in a player like Chema would be a welcome addition to the club.

As someone who has experience in both winning promotion, and then helping his side survive in the top tier, Chema does seem to be a player with the sort of pedigree that Fulham would want, and his versatility will only enhance his appeal to the London club.

With just a year left on his contract, Levante may be willing to sell for less than they otherwise would do, so this could be a financially smart move for Fulham as well.

Tottenham are set to include Josh Onomah in their deal to sign Fulham's Ryan Sessegnon for £30million

Tottenham have been chasing Ryan Sessegnon's signature all summer
Spurs are now set to include academy graduate Josh Onomah in the deal
Onomah was on-loan at Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship last season
19-year-old Sessegnon came through the academy system at Fulham
Tottenham are set to include academy prospect Josh Onomah in their £30million swoop of Fulham's Ryan Sessegnon.

Barring an unexpected collapse, Sessegnon will complete his long-awaited switch to Spurs this week.

And Mauricio Pochettino is prepared to let Onomah leave for Craven Cottage to drag the deal over the line.

Ryan Sessegnon was relegated from the Premier league with Fulham last season
Sessegnon was part of England's Under-21 squad at the European Championships this summer
Cottagers boss Scott Parker has big interest in Onomah, 22, and Spurs are willing to use the midfielder as a makeweight in the deal.

Onomah has made 32 senior appearances for Spurs - but he is way down the pecking order under Pochettino and made just one senior appearance for the club last season.

Sessegnon has made it clear he want to leave Fulham for Spurs this summer and the talented youngster now looks set to get his wish ahead of Thursday's transfer deadline.

Striker pursued by QPR and Fulham is on his way to West London – to join Brentford

Brentford are poised to complete the signing of Iran forward Saman Ghoddos.

QPR and Fulham both pursued Ghoddos last year prior to his move from Swedish side Östersunds FK to French club Amiens, who are now set to sell him.

English clubs have continued to show an interest and Ghoddos now looks set to join Brentford as a replacement for Neal Maupay, who has left for Brighton in a £20m deal.

Ghoddos is expected to undergo a medical ahead of a move to Griffin Park.

QPR were frustrated in their attempts to sign him but have been able to bring in strikers in this window, signing Jordan Hugill and Jan Mlakar on loan from West Ham and Brighton respectively.

Their focus now is on trying to agree a deal for Aberdeen's Scotland defender Scott McKenna.

McKenna has handed in a transfer request in an attempt to force a move south of the border.

The request has been rejected and manager Derek McInnes recently insisted that QPR needed to cough up more money in order to land him.

The R's had a £3m bid turned down and were also knocked back after submitting a revised offer.

"There was a fresh offer. I don't know if there was a written offer from Nottingham Forest but there certainly was from QPR on Friday – but clearly it was not enough," McInnes told the Daily Record last week.

"It was a slight increase and it was structured in a certain way but it was not enough for the club to accept.

"It's up to the buying club to make my chairman think differently but as it stands Scott will remain with us."

Murphy is reportedly leaving Newcastle United with four Championship clubs keen: Derby County, Sheffield Wednesday, Huddersfield and Derby.

Jacob Murphy is expected to leave Newcastle United on loan with Derby County, Fulham, Sheffield Wednesday and Huddersfield Town all queuing up to sign the winger, according to The Sun (7 August, page 50).

Big things were expected when Murphy, an England U21 international and a boyhood Magpies fan, moved to St James' Park from Norwich City in a £12 million deal two years ago.

But maybe the Premier League came too soon for a player who looked a cut above the division below alongside his twin brother Josh.

Murphy has just one goal and one assist in 31 top flight appearances so far and spent the second half of last season on loan at West Brom. With Newcastle manager Steve Bruce bringing in Allan Saint-Maximin from Nice, it looks like the 24-year-old has now slipped even further down the pecking order.

So a return to the Championship, if only for 12 months, could be exactly what Murphy needs to kick-start his career.

The Sun claims that Derby, Fulham, Huddersfield and Sheffield Wednesday are all interested in a jet-heeled forward who provided nine goals and six assists in his final Championship campaign in Norwich colours.

It remains to be seen who is at the front of the queue but Derby, in particular, could be a wonderful opportunity with Phillip Cocu and Wayne Rooney imparting knowledge and experience on the training pitch.

Fulham Lodge Enquiry For Everton Star

Fulham have lodged an enquiry to probe the possibility of signing Everton midfielder Muhamed Besic late in the transfer window, according to the Sun.

The Cottagers signed Harry Arter from Bournemouth earlier this week, but are in the market for midfielders ahead of Thursday's Championship transfer deadline.

They have been looking at a number of options and are claimed to have made an initial move to bring in one more body to their midfield before the window slams shut.

The Championship club have put in an enquiry with Everton to discuss the possibility of taking Besic to Craven Cottage this summer.

The Bosnian midfielder spent last season on loan at Middlesbrough and appears to have no future at Everton going forward.

The Merseyside club could look to ship him out and could agree to another loan deal.

Fulham have come forward but the discussions are still at an early stage and there are no guarantees that a deal could be stuck.

Time is running out due to the early closing Championship transfer window, and the Cottagers will have to move fast if they are  interested in getting a deal done for the midfielder.

Report: Sheffield Wednesday enter Michael Hector talks as Fulham lurk

Championship duo Fulham and Sheffield Wednesday are interested in signing £4m Michael Hector from Premier League Chelsea.

Sheffield Wednesday are in talks to sign Michael Hector on a permanent deal but Fulham are also interested in the Chelsea defender, according to the Mail.

Just a week ago, Wednesday fans would have been very worried about the club's trajectory heading into what looked set to be a testing 2019/20 campaign. They lost their manager, Steve Bruce walking out to join Newcastle with barely a second glance, and not a single penny had been spent on new signings.

But suddenly, things are looking up at Hillsborough. It is amazing what a couple of days can do.

A 3-1 opening day win against Reading capped a performance full of verge and quality, proving once and for all that there's life after Bruce. And, according to The Mail, Wednesday have now entered talks about a permanent deal for Hector.

Chelsea's £4 million forgotten man was a huge hit at Hillsborough last season, shining in 37 Championship appearances. His return would not only be a marquee signing for a club who spent much of the summer under a transfer embargo, it would be a major boost for Sheffield Wednesday's promotion hopes.

The Mail claims that Chelsea's West London neighbours Fulham are interested too and, as anyone who watched The Cottagers over the last 12 months will tell you, a quality centre-half is a must.

Fulham conceded 81 goals en route to relegation last season and they were their own worst enemies again in Saturday's shock defeat to Wigan. Hector would provide experience and strength at the back – two attributes The Cottagers are crying out for.

Report: Nottingham Forest bid for Levante ace Chema Rodriguez

Championship promotion chasers Nottingham Forest are still allegedly targeting new signings, including La Liga defender Chema Rodriguez.

Nottingham Forest have made an offer to sign Levante defender Chema Rodriguez, according to Cadena Ser.

It has been another summer of change at the City Ground with a new manager and eight new players. But with the transfer deadline still 24 hours away, there is time for Forest to make a couple of further additions.

Le10 Sport claims that Caen goalkeeper Brice Samba and Bordeaux striker Alexandre Mendy could be on their way to the banks of the Trent while reports today have linked Forest with a talented centre-half too.

A 27-year-old who played for Atletico Madrid in his youth, Chema impressed as Levante avoided relegation from La Liga last season.

Ligue 1 newcomers Brest are interested but Cadena Ser claims that Nottingham Forest's offer is far greater than their French counterparts. And, after signing Ruben Vezo and Oscar Duarte, Levante are prepared to let Chema go.

El Desmarque claimed earlier in the summer that Chema was keen to join Fulham, who had expressed an interest in luring the Spaniard to Craven Cottage.

Fulham conceded 81 goals in the Premier League last season and they looked suspect again in their shock 1-0 defeat in Saturday's Championship opener against Wigan Athletic. So with Forest making their move, The Cottagers must respond before it's too late.
