Based on the last time we got promoted, we probably need;

* a skilful and speedy teenager who is unlikely to be affected with dressing room politics

* a good striker that can get along very well with the head coach

* a solid giant centre back

The rest of the team can be built around these 3 players.

The questions that should have been asked last season was "what do we need to buy before pre-season?" and "what can wait until the end of the transfer window?".

I'd be buying a centre-back first, even if we need s right winger more, because we cannot afford to have CBs missing our pre-season like last year.

We need a CB alongside Mawson to add height and physicality to a back line that is lacking height depth and the will to not concede, a set piece specialist and that is priority.
We need more pace up front and on the wing, and we need them pronto.

Who would have thought any championship player could get past out right back Christie and cross the ball to the far post, and then beat Fabri, Odoi, MLM, Bryan, Seri and Kebano in the air. We have got the aerial defense covered, unless some players in the championship are six feet high or Harry Winks height in which case we have a problem.

There are two ways of gaining promotion, you either need a team with physical strength and fight or skill and speed, if I am not mistaken we will have neither next year. We need players who will fit into a system built around one of these models otherwise we will sit in mid table mediocrity until someone eventually comes in and buys the players fit for the job.
