As an aside from football, does anybody watch the prog on the BBC called The Repair Shop? Surprisingly people take all manner of personal items there to be repaired. Those who do the repairs are so skilled and they obviously enjoy all that they do. Some items have such an interesting history. One was a battered old violin that a lady who was sent to Auschwitz used to play. Her ability to play this saved her life as she was a put into an orchestra there for propaganda purposes. She handed this down the family when she died in 1947. Another was a set of dusty old tubes that was a set of bag pipes. These had been played in the First World War by this chap's grandfather. I found it quite emotional to hear both of them them played again after restoration. For once the BBC has come up with really excellent programme.
Was there ever a braver man who climbed out of those God forsaken trenches and take on the bullets, bombs and shrapnel armed with a set of bag pipes?

I agree about The Repair Shop, but why the cheap jibe “for once .....”. Have you watched Line of Duty, Killing Eve, Planet Earth, Dynasties, Earth from Space, Mrs Wilson.... There has been along list of great programmes from the Beeb recently whatever your tastes. Why not celebrate their successes!
