Fulham Linked With Republic Of Ireland Midfielder As The Quest For Promotion Gets Set To Start In Earnest

I get the impression that climbing back into the Premier League, after being relegated, could be a task we have to get right-first-time or else we could well spend some time in the wilderness that is the Championship.

With the squad set to undertake a shuffle this summer, an inevitable occurrence courtesy of our dream going sour, it is essential that the board, prompted by Scott Parker, bring in the right kind of player.

To climb back into the top-flight, we need to keep the nucleus of our side but add two or three experienced Championship players, players who have tasted the sweet success promotion brings.

This morning, the local media source, the Bournemouth Echo, is linking Fulham with one such player, Harry Arter.

Arter, still a mere 29-years-of-age, is back at Bournemouth, after a season-long loan deal with Cardiff City.

The Republic of Ireland international midfielder is said to be interesting Fulham and I'm of the opinion that he is just the kind of player we need to assist us in embarking on what we all hope will be a promotion season.

Sat here in the editorial chair, I'll monitor the situation and report back accordingly.

Cardiff City consider move for ex-Tottenham Hotspur and Fulham star Lewis Holtby - reports

Neil Warnock's transfer plans are already coming together

Lewis Holtby of Hamburger SV

Cardiff City are considering former Tottenham star Lewis Holtby this summer.

Free agent Holtby has just been released by Bundesliga 2 side Hamburg.

The 28-year-old has been back in Germany since 2015, after two years with Tottenham and a loan stint with Fulham.

Holtby was the talk of European football a few years ago, with England courting him before he pledged his allegiance to Germany, where he was born.

His return to his homeland hasn't gone to plan, with Hamburg relegated from the German top flight last season.

He will leave the club this summer and Bluebirds boss Neil Warnock is said to be looking at him.

As a free agent Holtby would certainly fit the bill for Cardiff , who plan to bring in up to six players this summer in an attempt to return to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

Holtby is a midfielder with an attacking sense, and with Victor Camarasa and Harry Arter both returning to their parent clubs after spending stints in South Wales, a move for the former Spurs man would add up.

The Bluebirds have already been linked with Rotherham and Wales man Will Vaulks this summer, as well as Portsmouth's Jamal Lowe .

Forget Mitrovic – This 23-goal hitman would be the right man to fire Fulham back to the Premier League

Fulham Opinion: Dwight Gayle is the perfect man to replace Mitrovic

According to a recent report from the Evening Standard, Fulham are said to be lining up a move for Newcastle United striker Dwight Gayle, as they look to make a statement by returning to the Premier League in just a single season. It has been suggested that Gayle could be the key to their success in the Championship next season.

Fulham will be hopeful of adding a new striker to their ranks mainly because of the rather imminent departure of young Serbian striker Aleksandar Mitrovic. The talismanic forward was one of their only players who had any sort of impact and playing in the Championship is certainly not the right step for his future.

The report is suggesting that Premier League sides West Ham and Crystal Palace are both interested in signing the Serbian international, as they look to bolster their attacking options. With his inevitable departure now looming, Fulham must act quickly to try and plug the gaps that have started to develop because of relegation.

While Middlesbrough striker Britt Assombalonga is also being suggested as a potential target, the Cottagers will do well to keep their eyes locked on Dwight Gayle.

The Englishman has been a Championship star over his career but has never really pulled it off in the Premier League. Despite not being able to guide them to getting promoted, his exploits for West Brom this season were quite impressive.

Having brought the Baggies all the way to the playoffs, he was unable to see them off as they fell at the hands of Aston Villa.

His season was one to behold as he and former Southampton man Jay Rodriguez tore up the goalscoring charts. Gayle would be a huge addition to an already talented Fulham side.

Considering that the Cottagers boast players who can give the Englishman the right kind of support going forward, there's no reason why he should not flourish in the Championship again.

The fact that he got 23 goals and 8 assists from 39 league games strengthen his case even further and that should be enough motivation to make a move.

His quick feet and sharp movement in the final third have always been a feature of his play and his ability to finish from tight angles is one of his strengths. His pace and experience would add a new element to the Fulham attack and manager Scott Parker must make this a priority in the summer transfer window if they hope to return to the top-flight.

Galatasaray leading race to sign Babel

A free agent since leaving Fulham, Ryan Babel has had a number of approaches but is tempted by Galatasaray's offer.

Ryan Babel has admitted that he is tempted by the prospect of joining Galatasaray after being released by Fulham.

With Fulham not retaining his services following their relegation from the Premier League, the Netherlands international is looking for a new club.

The 32-year-old has been strongly linked with a return to the Turkish Super Lig, where he won the title with Besiktas in 2016-17.

Palace move to sign Justin from Luton

Crystal Palace are in the race to sign Luton Town defender James Justin, according to claims from Football Insider.

The promising full-back impressed for his side in League One this season, subsequently earning himself a place in the division's Team of the Year.

Luton secured promotion to the Championship after a consistent campaign in the third tier of English football, but it seems they are still at risk of losing key players, with Justin courted by Premier League clubs such as Palace.

The Eagles are understood to have made an approach over a possible deal for the 21-year-old, who can play either as a left-back or as a right-back.

Justin has only one year remaining on his current contract at Luton, prompting speculation that the club could look to cash in on their young star to avoid losing him for free next summer.

Palace appear to be in the hunt, while Aston Villa have reportedly made a £7.5 million bid. Southampton, Leicester City and Fulham are all also noted as potential suitors for the defender.
