'Brutal!' Brentford fans are loving how the Bees and Bristol City trolled Fulham on social media

Brentford have sent a hilarious message to Fulham following their return to the Championship

West London rivalry is alive and well between Brentford and Fulham.

The Bees and the Cottagers are set to meet in the Championship again next season after Fulham's relegation from the Premier League, with the two sides set to face off in west London derbies at Craven Cottage and Griffin Park once again.

And the rivalry has been stoked up on social media today (Wednesday) after a hilarious reply from Brentford to their west London neighbours.

After Fulham followed the Bees on social networking website Twitter, Brentford sent the below message from the club's official account: "Thanks for the follow lads. Welcome back!"

It wasn't just Brentford getting in on the act either, with Bristol City also posting about being followed by Fulham's official account, as can be seen below.

But Brentford fans have been loving what their club tweeted to Fulham and have been quick to praise the people behind the tweet, as can be seen by their responses to the Bees' initial post.

2019 Africa Cup of Nations: Former Fulham ace Derek Boateng believes Black Stars will need Gyan's experience at tourney

Former Ghana and Fulham midfielder Derek Boateng says Ghana will need the experience of Asamoah Gyan in their quest to win 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

Gyan's inclusion for the June 21 to July 19 championship has become a topic of discussion following his recent challenges with injury, form and playing time at club level.

Calls for his exclusion escalated last week when he announced his surprise retirement from international duty over being stripped of the national team captaincy. He made a U-turn two days later after Ghana president Nana Akufo-Addo spoke to him privately.

"Even if you won't be playing him [Gyan] in the starting XI, you need to take him [to the tournament] because in these kinds of tournaments, you need experienced players around the team," Boateng told Pulse Ghana.

"Some of the players haven't played in the Afcon before.

"Trust me, this tournament is different from the World Cup. It is very tough."

The 33-year-old has been as the new 'General Captain' ahead of the tournament.

He is Ghana's most capped and all-time top scorer of 51 goals in 106 matches.

The Kayserispor forward has represented Ghana at every Cup of Nations tournament since 2008 and has been at the World Cup on three occasions. (2006, 2010 and 2014)

Ghana have been placed in Group F against defending champions Cameroon, Benin and Guinea-Bissau.

Fulham player waiting for offer so he can leave Craven Cottage, talks expected soon

Takvim report Fulham goalkeeper Fabri is waiting for an offer from his former club Besiktas as he looks to leave the Craven Cottage club before the start of next season.

Fabri joined Fulham last summer from the Black Eagles for €6m and played the first two Premier League games of last season, but didn't feature again.

It's reported the Spanish goalkeeper is keen to leave Fulham to get regular first team football and is open to returning to Besiktas in this transfer window.

The Turkish newspaper also reports Besiktas' head of transfer committee Umut Guner will hold talks soon with Fabri over a potential move.

Any move for Fabri to the Istanbul club will depend on the future of Loris Karius. If the Liverpool loanee remains in Istanbul next season then the chances of Besiktas making an offer to Fulham for Fabri are very slim.

The Spaniard is contracted to the London club until June 2022.

Taylor: Hammers should sign Mitrovic

Matt Taylor believes his former club West Ham should sign Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic this summer.

Mitrovic has been tipped to move on following Fulham's relegation from the Premier League and West Ham are among the clubs to have been linked with him.

Taylor, speaking exclusively to 888sport, said: "I think Mitrovic has done extremely well. Is he someone who West Ham could be in the market for? I think so. He's a striker who has proven his worth for a team that has struggled this season.

"Location wise he is already based in London. Can they get him? I don't know but the clubs will have done their work now for the past six months determining who is available and who fits into the parameters of their wage structure.

"If you're looking for someone to step into the void that Andy Carroll has left,  Mitrovic seems like a really good fit for me."

And Taylor, who made 76 league appearances during a three-year spell with the Hammers, believes a European place should be their aim next season.

"They've got the backing from the owners and have the money to bring in the best players and they finished this season really positively," he said.

"So next season they should be pushing for the top six to eight. If Wolves were so phenomenal this season why shouldn't West Ham have a real good go next year? It would be great to see."

A much-needed move – Here's why Fulham signing this 27-year-old Spaniard would solve their backline woes

Fulham Opinion: Why Chema Rodriguez will be a smart addition for Fulham?

According to a report from Spanish news outlet El Desmarque, Fulham are interested in signing Levante defender Chema Rodriguez.

The Spaniard, 27, impressed for Levante last season as they narrowly avoided relegation from La Liga. The report claims he is very much interested in the prospect of joining Fulham, who were relegated from the Premier League this past campaign.

However, there are other clubs interested in the defender, whose contract at Levante expires in the summer of 2020. That should prompt the Spanish club to cash in on their defender this summer rather losing him next year for absolutely nothing.

Fulham will be hugely disappointed after suffering relegation from the top-flight, almost a year before they achieved promotion by winning the playoff final against Aston Villa at the Wembley Stadium. Scott Parker has been backed by the Fulham board to drive the club back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

Scott Parker, 38, returned to Craven Cottage as first-team coach last summer and took his first managerial role when Claudio Ranieri was sacked after a miserable spell. The midfielder turned manager needs to recruit smartly over the summer and bring in players that fit his style of play, unlike what happened last summer with the Cottagers.

And the first area that Parker needs to prioritise over anything is strengthening the defence, which was woeful this past campaign as it leaked 81 goals—more than any other team in the Premier League. The Fulham manager should start rebuilding the squad from the base—which is the defence—if he wishes to give his team a chance of achieving promotion next year.

And signing Chema Rodriguez from Levante would go a long way in solving the Cottagers' defensive problems.

Rodriguez was one of the rare bright sparks for Levante in an otherwise disappointing season in the La Liga. Exceptionally strong in the air and a competent tackler, he is a traditional defender who would fit in quickly at Fulham. The Spaniard certainly knows how to make his presence felt in the opposition's box as well.

The likes of Denis Odoi, Tim Ream, Alfie Mawson and Maxime Le Marchand were all very inconsistent for Fulham. Calum Chambers shone in difficult times for the Cottagers but he has returned to Arsenal following the expiry of his loan spell. Certainly, Rodriguez has the qualities to make a difference at Craven Cottage and lead the backline next season.

Verdict

If Fulham can sign Rodriguez from Levante, then Parker would bag a massive coup ahead of the 2019/20 campaign.

The 8 teams who are deemed more likely to win the Championship than Middlesbrough next season

Boro are currently 16/1 ninth favourites to top the Championship pile next season

Where do you start when picking your promotion winners for the Championship next season?

A little less than 12 months ago, it was very difficult to see past Stoke City when weighing up the sides who were likely to be in the mix.

Forty six games later, the Potters had a negative goal difference and were closer to the drop zone than they were the top six. Norwich, on the other hand, weren't the pick of many last summer but blew the division apart with their slick style and attacking freedom.

Fulham were slick last time they were in the second tier. So slick and impressive, in fact, they were tipped by some for a top half Premier League finish. Their sole season in the top flight turned into a disaster, though. Back in the Championship, could they come up against their former manager in the Riverside dugout next season?

Stoke are the the most recent evidence of a Premier League hangover being a stinker to get rid of. And yet the three sides to come down are always in the mix with the bookies for an immediate return. That's again the case this season, with Fulham, Cardiff and Huddersfield all among the frontrunners.

Right now, Boro are a tricky one to call for those who compile the odds. Take the top two contenders to take charge: you've got Slavisa Jokanovic, two-time promotion winner, and Jonathan Woodgate, an unknown quantity in the dugout.

If the former gets the gig, it's inevitable Boro's promotion odds will tumble given his record of getting teams out of the division.

At this stage, though, the bookies reckon there are eight teams that are more likely to win the Championship title than Boro next season. Boro's title price with SkyBet is 16/1 as things stand.

We take a look at those sides, their current situation and how they're likely to shape up next term.

Fulham - 7/1
When Claudio Ranieri was sacked, Fulham were 10 points adrift of safety with 10 games to play, so Scott Parker didn't really stand a chance of keeping them up.

Come the end of the season, though, chairman Shahid Khan said Fulham had "undeniably become a better football club" with Parker at the helm - with the former midfielder appointed on a permanent basis.

The difference between this season and next for Parker will be expectation. Fulham are expected to challenge, even if they do face a fight to hold on to a couple of key players. Spurs wants Ryan Sessegnon and Aleksandar Mitrovic is interesting clubs in the Premier League and abroad.

Leeds - 7/1

"Unfinished business" was the message from chairman Andrea Radrizzani after confirming this week that Marcelo Bielsa had signed a contract extension with Leeds United.

That was an obvious boost for the club after their play-off agony and attention has already turned to going one better next term. It's no surprise to see them installed as joint favourites given how close they went this season. And Bielsa is reportedly demanding improvements across the board.

He wants his squad strengthened, he wants Leeds to make better use of the loan window and he wants to make changes to the Thorp Arch training complex, reportedly recommissioning the swimming pool and getting a 1km running track built on site.

They should be in the mix again.

The question is, how much did this season's near miss take it out of them mentally? Are they equipped to come back stronger?

West Brom - 10/1

West Brom are preparing for a summer of change.

As well as appointing a new manager, the Baggies will need an overhaul of the first team squad, with several key figures potentially on the move.

Who will lead Albion in their second season in the Championship remains unclear, with technical director Luke Dowling having reportedly spoken to a number of candidates including Slavisa Jokanovic, Chris Hughton and Bruno Labadia. Garry Monk and Danny Cowley are also on the club's radar.

Whoever comes in will need to oversee a summer of change. Salomon Rondon will leave, while a string of other high earners such as Jay Rodriguez, Craig Dawson, Matt Phillips, Kieran Gibbs and Jake Livermore are likely to depart. Six loanees have already gone and out of contract talented teenager Rekeem Harper has rejected a new deal and looks set to move on.

Cardiff - 11/1

Neil Warnock will still be the man in charge of Cardiff City next season, with the experienced manager saying the target of winning a ninth promotion was "driving me on again".

While relegation is often followed by an overhaul, Warnock suggests that won't be the case at Cardiff this season, with the 70-year-old looking to keep the bulk of the squad together "and adding two or three players".

While the short-term aim is obviously promotion, Warnock will work on a succession plan this season. He has one year left on his deal and admits Cardiff need to start looking for his replacement now.

"I would like to think we could do well and I can help them in that selection," he says.

Stoke City - 11/1

Can Stoke do next season what they were expected to do this season?

If the campaign just gone proved anything, it's that strength on paper and lavish spending doesn't guarantee success in the Championship. Gary Rowett paid the price and Nathan Jones's appointment didn't have an immediate impact, the Potters winning just three of the former Luton manager's 21 games in charge.

Despite the average results, chairman Peter Coates was encouraged by what he believes were promising signs. He says Jones will be backed this summer but admits "our biggest restriction is the concern we have about (financial) fair play rules." He also acknowledges it will be tough for Stoke to move on some of their big earners.

Derby County - 14/1

There's plenty of uncertainty surrounding Derby on the back of that play-off final defeat to Aston Villa.

Frank Lampard's future remains unclear with those Chelsea links refusing to go away. And if Lampard does stay, he'll have to face up to planning for life without key loan stars such as Harry Wilson, Mason Mount and Fikayo Tomori.

Lampard is due to sit down with chairman Mel Morris to discuss how the Rams can capitalise on a positive season and talks will be about how the club can compete again next term.

Huddersfield Town - 14/1

Jan Siewert was relieved to get to the end of last season.

"It's important to draw a line now and get rid of the..," he said, before turning to his press officer and asking: "Can I say s***?"

After a memorable first season in the Premier League, the second campaign was difficult and relegation looked nailed on from the early stages.

Those in the know in Huddersfield say Town have the core of a decent Championship side, even taking into account the players who are likely to move on.

"With a few well-judged additions, Town will have a very competitive side for the lower division," writes Mel Booth, of the Huddersfield Examiner.

One player who looks set to leave is the influential Philip Billing, who this week described manager Siewert as "arrogant".

Billing said: "He came in as if he had won the Premier League five times, a little arrogant, and I think most people lost respect for him after a week's time. People could see there was something wrong. He almost tried too hard."

Sheffield Wednesday - 14/1

Sheffield Wednesday lost just three of 18 matches after Steve Bruce's appointment and briefly flirted with a late push for the top six. In the end, they finished six places and 10 points shy of the play-off spots - but the foundations were put in place for the Owls to come back stronger next season after two average mid-table campaigns.

Bruce wants at least half a dozen new faces and was pleased with how his squad bought into his demands after taking charge at Hillsborough.

He said: "It takes longer than three or four months to change the philosophy (at a club) but I think the players understand what we are trying to achieve.

"They have bought into what we are trying to do and the reason why I have let some go is because we need some younger, fresher players."

Bruce says Wednesday can't afford another season of mediocrity.

He told the Sheffield Star : "We have got to be seen to be competing at the top end of the table. It is as simple as that.

"That's the remit for us all.

"We have not been competing at the top end for the last couple of years and the club have had two managers (Carlos Carvalhal and Luhukay) because of it who have lost their jobs.

"I'm under no illusions of what we need."

Manchester City winger Patrick Roberts set to join Norwich on a season loan

Patrick Roberts has recently been on loan at Scottish champions Celtic
He is now set for a chance in the Premier League with Norwich City
Norwich are looking to stretch a limited transfer budget of around £25m

Patrick Roberts is joining Norwich City on a season loan from Manchester City.

The 22-year old winger has been on loan at Celtic and Girona since joining City from Fulham but will get his chance in the Premier League under Daniel Farke next season.

Roberts has been a target for Leicester City in the past but they are weighing up other targets.

Norwich, meanwhile, are looking to stretch a limited transfer budget of around £25million.

City were happy to let Roberts move to Carrow Road following the success of Angus Gunn's loan there in 2017-18.

Gunn was subsequently sold to Southampton for £13.5million.

Not sure how he came to this conclusion:

"If you're looking for someone to step into the void that Andy Carroll has left,  Mitrovic seems like a really good fit for me."

Former Fulham ace Derek Boateng

I must have been drinking hard at that time as I have no memory of this

3 league 2 cup, 2013/14.  It surprised me as well I had to look it up.
Watching the ups and downs since 1958, wouldn't have it any other way, what a roller coaster of a club.

I remember watching Boateng against Sunderland away in 2013, my lasting impression was he looked skilful but couldn't pass straight to a teammate no matter how close he was. How sad I can remember that!
Is a dream a lie if it don't come true?

If we had signed Boateng about 3 years earlier, he could have been very useful. I watched him in his prime for Beitar Jerusalem (not the highest level admittedly) and he completely bossed the match. Jol was after him for a couple of years, but by the time we actually got him he was on the downward slide.
