Just read about this American boxer recovering in hospital after a fight.

I'm probably gonna get hammered for this but when was "Sport" designed so you could probably die whilst taking part . I hate boxing with a vengeance. There are sports that are dangerous, i.e. Off piste skiing, motor racing etc but with boxing is deliberate. One pummelling the other onto oblivion.
So many boxers suffer being punch drunk after they retire, and some don't get that far.
1975 just leaving home full of hope

Boxing isn't about punching the other person into oblivion

And horse racing is safe for the horse and rider?
And formula !?
And sky diving?

You were right about one thing; you are going to get hammered
Remember you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.
I will be as good as I can be and when I cross the finishing line I will see what it got me

Agree 100% Bobbo , this so called sport should be banned ASAP ! If boxing is not about punching each other what is it about ?

In any of these sports do participants go out to purposefully hurt an opponent , but horse racing should be banned , whipping those poor horses !

Since 26 December, 29 horses have died at Santa Anita racetrack in California. Of the 29 deaths, 10 occurred on the main track during racing, 12 during morning training and seven over the turf course. Two of the deaths were believed to be a result of heart attacks.

I have always hated horse racing and how the horses are whipped. Not sure if the horses get any pleasure out of their existence on Earth.

Badminton should be banned, the way they treat
them Shuttlecocks is a disgrace.😤

I am glad I just stick to Tug of War, Arm Westling and Log Rolling these days. They are much gentler sports.
Its not the man in the fight, it's the fight in the man.  🐘

Never forget your Roots.

I reckon the shuttle can handle it a lot better, it's the cocks I feel sorry for.

I've been thinking about all the loss of life in  motor bike racing, especially the Isle of man TT.

Also, reading  Chris Bonnington's biography, and news from Everest, the dangers of mountain climbing. Bonnington seems to lose one close friend with every expedition he does.

But, like boxing, people choose to do these things - in fact, they're compelled, at least with Mountaineering and motorcycle racing. Boxing does enable people from  humble origins to achieve huge fame and wealth, though in the past there has been exploitation of fighters, and is  closely regulated to minimise the risks.

The risks  involved in  motorbike, and car, racing, and boxing are one of the reasons for their appeal too. Sports that people will pay a lot of money to watch, and generate wealth. Rightly or wrongly, but it's always been so. All sport involves some risk, even football.

I wouldn't ban any of these things - people choose to do them, and know the risks involved.

Agree with this entirely.  Some people wish to live on the edge and choose to do so.
