Mince n Tatties

Us English used to even laugh at ourselves, and not take life too seriously.... Then along in recent times have come the PC Brigade, Enforcement officers, and loony Council's.
The latest piece of nonsense coming from a village in East Yorkshire which has told a resident to take down the Jolly Roger Pirate Flag that he has in his garden, even the locals all love it and when they walk past his home they all go Ooh Aar.
Haven't these enforcement mob and local councils got more import things to worry about.
Every day you read about the PC mob trying to put a stop to things. :031:

We still laugh. Soem of us are just being distracted by victim/grief culture that sweeps itself, mostly unanswered on social media.

I've got a FFC flag on my front lawn and passing locals go "ooh arr", but I do live in Somerset [emoji6]

Books will be burnt and films will be destroyed. Not by some despot or fascist group. But by the victims and the those who wait to be insulted. Who refuse to answer a question in an exam because it 'triggers' a bad memory or experience. Who want books to have warnings on the covers in case the book 'triggers' a reminder of a unhappy past. Who finds Toy Story 4 upsetting because the toy from the rubbish should have been recycled.

Laughing and humour causes victims. No we can't laugh anymore. Not even at ourselves. But we can be blamed and accused. As for being alive and enjoying sit coms in the 70 s and 80s or song and dance shows in the Sixties and Seventies. Tell no one you liked them.
The above IS NOT A LEGAL DOCUMENT. It is an opinion.

We may yet hear the horse talk.

I can stand my own despair but not others hope

Nicholas Lyndhurst (Rodney in Fools n Horses) stated that they wouldn't be able to film certain episodes if it were made today, like saying "Paddy the Greek" who they often referred to.....Ridiculous.

Benny Hill, Alf Garnett wouldn´t get a minute of TV time these days. I watch them on YouTube so I can keep laughing.

Yeh it's all gone too PC. A line had to be drawn with the likes of Love Thy Neighbour and the fat northern comedian whose name escapes me, but it's all too ultra sensitive now. I'm Irish but I miss good Irish jokes. It's just a laugh. Don't take life so seriously [emoji16]

Now some people will say this enforces a stereotype of people from the West Country and isn't funny. Me i don't care does that make me a bad person?

I think stereotypes are funny if not taken seriously. I like the 'Tik Oirishman' stereotype. We do it in Ireland - same jokes but the Kerryman is the recepient. Reality is myself and many of my Irish compatriots are Uni educated and far from stupid (well academically at least), and understand when a joke is a joke...

Just an aside, my house in Somerset is called Badger Run, because we have a protected one in the back garden. I didn't name the house - it was already named that when I bought it. But I keep this secret from FFC in case they do me for breach of copyright [emoji6]

One day life will hit these people raising these non-issues and they will realise how sheltered and fragile they've made themselves. I will have no sympathy.

That would be interesting but a demanding results-driven boss would send these snowflakes into the same meltdown.

General

It's one of mankind's consistent failings.. specialising to a point you lose track of why you're specialising or to a point you lose yourself in the detail and what actually either matters or having to become so objectively focused you lose perspective.

People and industry to justify their jobs create more work to make themselves feel validated.

It happens with the downfalls of colony's to local communities... because it always ends up with overextending yourself or annoying the common sense quotient of people whos aim is to find a healthy balance.
