They've now spent £83 million net, almost completely on Championship players. Will be interesting to see how this pans out. Part of me does want them to get relegated just so we don't look so foolish going down having spent £100 million.

After £83m spent reasonably well spent, Ladbrokes still has Aston Villa as 3rd favourites for going down. The season may very bad for the Premier League brand as it may end up with ManCity running away with the title early, the big six getting into Europe early and relegation of all three promoted teams could be obvious by Christmas.

Major difference is that most of our signings were 'last minute' hence we started with a team of strangers and never recovered from that Add that they may start with a fit squad - we had a bunch of injured CBs - and they would appear to be in a better place!

Given TK and scouting team thought the best deals fulham were offerred before the 29th July 2019 were MLM, Seri, Fabri and Schullre (in my opinion these first four deals were the worst four deals of the transfer window in terms of value). Do you expect "the players that the Fulham Scouting team would have bought early in the window" were better (or worse) than what "we bought closer to deadline day (Mitro, Mawson, Bryan and Anguissa)"?

The "big" clubs spend this type of money on one player without batting an eyelid. The other clubs might as well just sign free or out of contract players as they will never be able to compete on the uneven playing field.

I like how you've cherry-picked the dates and names that suit you and still presented an incredibly weak argument.

Mitrovic was signed on 30 July so arguably he was actually an "early" signing but in any case, he was effectively brought in by Jokanovic in January.

Looking at ALL the players identified and signed by TK in Summer 2019, then prior to your cut-off date you have MLM, Seri, Fabri and Schurrle versus Chambers, Bryan, Mawson, Anguissa, Vietto, Rico and Fosu-Mensah after.

I appreciate that this is to some extent a matter of subjective personal opinion. However, that second group includes a £25m signing who couldn't play in our desired formation, a defender with a long-term injury, and a right-back who failed to displace Cyrus Christie.

Sorry but anyone who claims there was a discernable improvement in the quality of transfers in August versus June/July is surely talking out their ar&e.

Teams build squads for the championship and a premier league team needs to be far higher in quality.
Villa clearly think they are signing the right quality. Maybe they areocerpaying but they're doing that to improve the squad morale, the embedding of new signings and for the tactics to come together earlier.
We failed in this last year but we could have spent a whole lot more, it's the timing of signings that let us down but again that was a risk v reward scenario that we came out on the wrong side of. We clearly had targets and tried to get them late to curtail the spending which is sensible but it came at the expense of team gelling, tactics being under prepared and generally being slow to start the season

they are buying players as they only had a squad 17 players including loan players that have returned they dont want like Hogan etc , and they are looking at signing there 4 centre back, dont think they will play them all at once
