Fulham make move for Anthony Knockaert?

Fulham have reportedly made contact with Brighton & Hove Albion over a possible deal for winger Anthony Knockaert.

The 27-year-old has been with the Seagulls for three-and-a-half years, during which time he has helped the club get promoted to the Premier League and scored 27 goals across 139 appearances.

According to The Sun, Fulham have identified the Frenchman as a key target this summer as they look to get promoted back to the top flight at the first time of asking.

The newspaper says that the Cottagers are prepared to meet Brighton's £15m valuation and will also offer Knockaert "a hefty increase" on his current wages of £40,000 a week.

Scott Parker's side are in need of a new face out wide this summer following the departures of Ryan Babel and Andre Schurrle, as well as the impending exit of youngster Ryan Sessegnon.

Knockaert, who has three years remaining on his current Brighton deal, also earned promotion from the Championship with Leicester City in the 2013-14 season.

Ivan Cavaleiro Signs

The Club is delighted to confirm the signing of Ivan Cavaleiro on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The 25-year-old has agreed a season-long deal with the Whites, and the Club holds the option to make the transfer permanent next summer.

An exciting winger who is comfortable on either flank – and can also play centrally – Cavaleiro was an integral part of the Wolves side that won the Sky Bet Championship in 2017/18.

In his 42 matches that season, Cavaleiro scored nine times and laid on a further 12 assists for his teammates as Wolves claimed the title in style.

That was his second season at Molineux, and he also managed to reach double figures for goals and assists in his maiden campaign as well.

A change in formation lessened Cavaleiro's opportunities last season in the Premier League, but he still managed to find the back of the net three times. In total, he scored 19 goals and claimed 20 assists in his 106 games for Wolves.

Speaking to fulhamfc.com, Cavaleiro said:

"I'm really happy to be here and sign for Fulham. This is a big and respected club in England and through the rest of the world. Fulham has been involved in a European final, so it holds great pedigree. This is a good opportunity for me to grow as a player as well so I'm very happy to be here and I'm excited to be meeting everyone today."

Tony Khan added:

"Ivan Cavaleiro is a great and important addition to Fulham Football Club. Ivan's been a top target for Fulham for several years. He's an excellent attacking player who, like so many of our experienced squad, has made a great contribution to a Championship side that achieved promotion to the Premier League. I'm thrilled that we have been able to work with Wolves and Ivan and his representatives to negotiate this deal to bring Ivan Cavaleiro to Craven Cottage. Come on Fulham!"

After coming through the Benfica academy and starring for their B team, Cavaleiro made his debut for the senior team in a cup tie in October 2013, and impressed his manager so much that he was involved again in their Champions League tie against Olympiakos a few days later.

Benfica ended up dropping out of the Champions League but excelled in the Europa League, with Cavaleiro part of the team that reached the 2014 Final where they lost on penalties to Sevilla.

The following campaign he enjoyed a season in La Liga, playing 34 times while on loan at Deportivo de La Coruna.

His performances in Spain caught the attentions of AS Monaco, who brought him to Ligue 1 on a permanent deal for a sizeable transfer fee. He made his debut in a Champions League qualifier against BSC Young Boys, and netted his first goal for the club in the reverse leg a week later.

Cavaleiro only spent one year in France before Wolves came calling, with the West Midlanders parting with a reported club record fee for his services.

A regular for Portugal throughout the age groups, Cavaleiro is now a full international having made his debut for the senior side in February 2014.

Cavaleiro joins Fulham on loan

Ivan Cavaleiro has joined Fulham on a season-long loan with an option for a permanent transfer in the summer of 2020.

The senior Portuguese international has made more than 100 appearances in gold and black following his move to Molineux three seasons ago.

After playing for Monaco in the Champions League, Cavaleiro switched to England in 2016, enjoying a fruitful first season at Wolves.

He made his Championship debut against Burton Albion in September 2016 with his first goal following 14 days later at home to Brentford. Making 32 appearances that season, Cavaleiro scored six goals during his first taste of English football.

The attacking performances of the wide man during the 2017/18 campaign were a major factor in Wolves' promotion-winning campaign.

In his second season with the club, Cavaleiro netted nine times and made a further 12 assists as Wolves achieved Premier League football, being named as the PFA Player of the Month for November.

Missing the start of last season due to injury, the 25-year-old returned to score with his first touch in the top-flight, netting against Southampton just minutes after coming off the bench.

However, he found places in Nuno Espirito Santo's Premier League starting line-up limited due to the form of his teammates, but it was in Wolves' run to the FA Cup semi-final where Cavaleiro came to the fore, netting two goals and creating one assist in his five cup appearances.

Everyone at Wolves would like to wish Ivan the best of luck during his season at Craven Cottage.

Fulham signing this Premier League-proven ace for £15m would go a long way in boosting their chances of promotion

Fulham Opinion – Cottagers in for Anthony Knockaert – Good Move?

According to a report in Sun, Fulham are viewing Brighton winger Anthony Knockaert as one of their transfer targets for this window as they aim to come back to the Premier League next year.

The Cottagers have made contact with Brighton over the signature of the player. While a formal offer is yet to be made, a fee of around £15m is being discussed. (h/t Sun)

Knockaert could be tempted to drop down a division in the wake of increment in his wages. He currently earns around £40,000-per-week at the Amex. (h/t Sun)

On the other hand, Fulham, who got relegated to the Championship after getting promoted to the Premier League last year, are aiming to sign a wide player who can score/assist goals and help the team fight for promotion again. (h/t Sun)

Here's why signing Knockaert would be good for them ahead of next season:

Cottagers could get a quality wide player
Predominantly a right-winger, he often uses his left foot to cut inside. Furthermore, Anthony Knockaert is capable of playing on the left-wing or as a support striker if required by the team.

The 27-year-old has struggled to regularly perform after Brighton's promotion to the Premier League. However, he was one of the better wingers in the Championship.

In terms of his attributes, Knockaert is good at taking the ball and taking on defenders. He can supply good crosses into the box and is effective while cutting inside and unleashing a shot towards the goal with his left foot.

If Fulham are looking to sign him because they are short on options in the wide areas, it is the right decision. The Frenchman could be their first-choice right-winger for the upcoming seasons.

Conclusion
All in all, we can conclude by saying that the Cottagers shouldn't hesitate to fork out the cash to sign Anthony Knockaert during this transfer window. With Ryan Babel and Andre Schurrle gone, they could get a perfect replacement in the Brighton man.

Player Profile: Ivan Cavaleiro

After stunning the Fulham fanbase by tying key players onto long term contracts, Tony Khan has pulled off his first acquisition of the Summer. In comes Ivan Cavaleiro from Wolves on a season long loan from Wolves, to fill a Sessegnon-shaped hole out on the wing. What can we expect from the Portugese winger? George Singer is here with the important information you need to know!

Key information

Name: Ivan Ricardo Neves Abreu Cavaleiro (Ivan Cavaleiro)
Age: 25
Position: Attacking midfield (Can play either wings or centrally)
Previous clubs: Wolves, Monaco, Deportivo, Benfica

Key Strengths and weaknesses
During Wolves' canter to the Championship title, Ivan Cavaleiro was relied on heavily as part of a deadly front 3. Most often lining up alongside in a Leo Bonatini and Diogo Jota, Ivan Cavaleiro played a versatile creative role, and was a key cog in their successful side.

Often paired with a flying fullback, Ivan's speed and natural playmaking ability combined to help Wolves tear Championship defences to pieces, and score 82 goals in the process. Ivan has good control on the ball, an eye for a cross, and has a great knack of finding space in tight defences.

Mitro will be licking his lips at the prospect of Cavaleiro and Bryan combining on the left wing. The Potugese's speed and agility will naturally draw defenders in, and allow space for the Serbian hitman in the box – where he is most dangerous!

Whilst Ivan is an energetic defender, and can contribute to a high press, his tackling isn't his strength. It's not often that he is able to win a tackle, so don't expect him to charge back down the pitch to break up an opposition counter attack.

Instead, it's more likely that he will work hard in a clear defensive system, and look to apply pressure when the opposition are on the ball. Potentially paired with other energetic forwards, such as Abou and Mitro, Ivan will unlock the ability to employ the high press – something that would no doubt suit our overarching philosophy.

Where will he fit in at Fulham?
With Vietto and Schurrle returning to their parent clubs, and Sessegnon's departure seemingly inevitable, there's a clear lack of depth out wide at the Cottage right now.

Our current options include Neeskens Kebano, Floyd Ayite and Aboubakar Kamara. With this in mind, I would expect Ivan to slot in as a first choice winger, most likely on the left hand side. Of the current crop, Abou Kamara is likely to be the first choice out on the right wing. Unless more reinforcements come in, I would expect a front 3 of Cavaleiro, Mitro and Kamara to make the trip to Oakwell Stadium on the 3rd August.

With Ayite and Kebano in their final year of their contracts, and barely seen last season, it's unlikely they will form the backbone of the side to come. With Cavaleiro being in the final year of his Wolves' contract, this becomes a great scenario for Fulham: if we like what we see, we can agree a free transfer in January. If we don't, we leave him alone.

A low risk, high reward transfer for a proven Championship winning winger? Yes please!

Fulham get their man! Very impressive move by the Cottagers.

Fulham, under the stewardship of manager Scott Parker, are showing signs of real intent for the coming season in the Championship, rivals heads will be turned with this move.

The Cottagers have moved swiftly for Wolves winger Ivan Cavaleiro on a season-long loan deal, making the Portuguese man a big statement to their rivals within the Skybet Championship ahead of the 2019/20 season.

Cavaleiro has been a regularly on the International stage for Portugal at all age groups, but his form in The Championship in 2017/18 for Wolves is what will be the main focal point for the Fulham faithful, his powerful, speedy and direct style will strike panic into many defences next season and his style could directly benefit new strike partner Aleksander Mitrovic.

Fulham will be looking to bounce straight back up following relegation from The Premier League last season, so acquisitions such as Cavaleiro are just what the doctor ordered for the Londoners and their fans.

Cavaleiro (25) played forty two times for Wolves in there Championship promotion campaign, scoring nine goals and providing twelve assists for his team mates, so at this level, the winger is deadly.

The news was released by Fuham's Official website, here's what the player had to say...

Excellent business, let's see how that relationship pans out.

Fulham beating rivals to sign this 20-year-old Chelsea star on loan would add some much-needed quality to their midfield

Fulham Opinion: The Cottagers should try to beat West Brom in the race to sign Trevoh Chalobah on loan from Chelsea

According to Football London, Fulham have joined the race to sign Trevoh Chalobah on loan from Chelsea in the summer transfer window, with reports claiming that manager Scott Parker is keen to bring in some fresh faces following the Cottagers' relegation from the Premier League.

Fulham are not the only club have been credited with an interest in Chalobah, though, with Football London claiming that fellow promotion-hopefuls West Brom are also hot on trail of the 20-year-old midfielder.

The Baggies have already snapped up Croatian playmaker Filip Krovinovic from Benfica this summer but new manager Slaven Bilic is seemingly interested in bolstering his midfield options with a few more additions.

Highly-rated teenage prospect Rekeem Harper also looked set to depart the club but he has signed a new deal after having a heart-to-heart with the new manager, although the Baggies still find themselves under pressure to find replacements for the likes of Gareth Barry, Stefan Johansen and James Morrison.

Meanwhile, Fulham are yet to spend a penny in the transfer window this summer, having spent a fortune last summer upon securing promotion to the Premier League. However, the Cottagers are likely to have to cut down their wage bill and balance the books following their relegation from the top-flight, meaning that they would no longer be able to have such high-profile names on their payroll.

Looking at their options in the middle of the park, Jean Michael Seri looks sure to depart but it remains to be seen whether the Cottagers manage to keep hold of Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa.

The likes of  Kevin McDonald, Tom Cairney and Stefan Johansen, who had played a key role in Fulham's promotion-winning campaign in the Championship back in 2017-18, will once again be expected to be mainstays of the midfield, whilst Ibrahima Cisse is likely to continue as a fringe player.

Suffice to say, central midfield is one area of the pitch where a lot of depth and competition for places is desirable and someone like Trevoh Chalobah could possibly add a lot of energy and youthful exuberance to Fulham's ranks.

The 20-year-old is still very much in the developmental phase of his career but he is a promising youngster with a lot of quality, nevertheless.

The Sierra Leone-born midfielder has won plenty of accolades with Chelsea at the youth level, including the UEFA Youth League and the FA Youth Cup. While he is yet to make his senior professional debut for the Blues, Fulham would probably be more interested in his statistics from his loan spell at Ipswich Town in the previous season.

The tough-tackling and all-action defensive midfielder impressed with his consistent performances in the Championship at Portman Road, although he couldn't help the Tractor Boys from going down to League One.

The 20-year-old caught the eye with his natural flair, ability to break up the play and proficiency in carrying the ball forward with pace, registering 2 goals and an assist in 43 appearances for Paul Lambert's side.

Even if the move materializes, the England U-20 star would probably only play as an understudy to the likes of Johansen, McDonald and Cairney but, as alluded to earlier, Fulham need to ensure that they have adequate depth in their ranks. And Trevoh Chalobah is more than capable of playing that role to perfection.

Looking at things from the player's perspective, the prospect of a loan move to Fulham looks seems more appealing due to the fact that he would be able to further his development in West London.

All in all, Fulham should go all out in their pursuit of the highly-rated Chelsea youngster this summer and wrap up a deal at the earliest to enhance their chances of securing a return to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

AC Milan enter transfer race for Fulham flop Jean Michael Seri, Roma also keen
AC MILAN have joined the race to lure Fulham flop Jean Michael Seri to Italy next season.

Seri, who two years ago was close to joining Barcelona, cost the West London side a club record £25million from Nice last summer.

And the midfielder is keen to leave Craven Cottage following Fulham's relegation to the Championship and has made it clear that he would like a move to Italy.

Crystal Palace were keen to keep him in London but haven't followed up their initial enquiry with a formal offer.

Milan are in the market for another central midfielder this summer and have made it clear that they are interested.

But a potential sticking point could be Fulham wanting their investment back which could open the door for Roma to make a move.

Napoli and Inter Milan have also been looking at Seri who struggled to make any kind of an impact last season.

It comes after Seri's agent Franklin Mala confirmed talks had begun with Roma.

He said: "My Italian partner and I spoke to Roma a couple of weeks ago. We'll see how the situation evolves.

"He'd be happy to play in Serie A and Roma are a very good club."

Seri was with Ivory Coast for the African Cup of Nations however they were knocked out in the quarter-finals by Algeria.

It means the midfielder would not be returning to Fulham for pre-season training for a couple of weeks yet.

Seri made 32 league appearances for Fulham last season as the club were relegated from the Premier League.

Opinion: Marco Silva could finally offload £30k-per-week Everton man this summer

Muhamed Besic looks on his way out of Everton this summer. The 26-year-old has struggled for playing time at Goodison Park and has interest from sides in the Bundesliga, Ligue 1, Serie A and the Championship. According to TEAMtalk, Fulham lead the race for Besic's signature and are willing to pay £5m for the £30k-per-week midfielder.

Besic has been on the periphery at Everton for some time, spending the last 18 months on loan at Middlesbrough (January 31, 2018 – May 31, 2018) (August 23, 2018 – May 31, 2019). The Bosnia-Herzegovina international made 56 appearances in all competition for Boro, scoring and creating nine goals, but it wasn't enough to earn him a reprieve in the Everton first-team.

Besic remains surplus to requirements ahead of the 2019/20 campaign and could be sold if a club meets his asking price. Fulham appear to be making the most headway, but they're yet to lodge an official bid. The Everton midfielder is reportedly open to joining the Cottagers this summer, more so than moving abroad.

With Andre Gomes, Idrissa Gueye, Tom Davies and Morgan Schneiderlin for competition at Everton, playing opportunities were always going to be few and far between for Besic. Fabian Delph could be on his way to Goodison Park this summer which would only add to the problem too.

Nevertheless, the 26-year-old could finally be on his way out of Everton to resurrect his career elsewhere.
