So Stephen will be in our first team squad, maybe even the 11 and Ryan will be bench at best or more likely their U23's.   Will be interesting to hear what he thinks in a years time.

Good luck anyway Ryan.

Sess had better brush upon his Italian and  German. Inter and Dortmund have entered the fray.

I'm personally ok with him going, as long as we get a sell on %.

If he doesn't want to be here then let him go. £25m seems reasonable given he only has a year left.

I'm in the minority who doesn't think he's a premier league player

I agree with everything aside from the fact you think he's not a premier league player. He is. He did well last season and season till made an impact despite his age and first season in that league. He'll go on to be successful. Aside from moussa dembele I've not been confident about any other of our academy players to the same degree of certainty.

Have to agree the last few games when he got a run in the team under Scott he looked better then he did all season, and dont forget with better players around him he will play better as they make runs off the ball, unless spurs are buying him as a Left back then yea dont think hes cut out for that

Skatzoffc

Ranieri ruined him last season confidence wise.
Parker has begun his mental rebuild.
He will learn in a better team and be fine. But only if he can get games.

Good luck to him.

Siblings, let us not be down on it.
One total catastrophe like this...is just the beginning !

I agree that he's not ready to start for most EPL squads.    Saying he couldn't start for Villa or Sheffield would be incorrect imo.

If he stays, regardless of him wanting more money, he won't be on the U23 squad unless Scott Parker thinks there are better options on the bench...which Ayite and Kebano are not, imo.

You don't punish the team because a player wanted more money.  That would be ridiculous imo.

If it was just down to money we would pay him or he could of sign a contract last year with a release clause, but its down to ambition and wanting to play at CL level, dont think he would leave for a not top 6 club

I'm sitting here watching Juventus vs Spurs.

Danny Rose and Trippier aren't on the Spurs squad.    Yet I'm looking at their team and I'm thinking...why on earth would their owner pay 25 million for Ryan Sessegnon when his own fans think he's easily replaceable in the championship?  With only 1 year left.   Seriously.

They don't need him.   And they are notoriously frugal and they've already moved one of their players (Trippier)

I know this thread says an order is in for a physical...and it might be, but for the life of me I can't see Fulham getting more than 12 million for him.

Edit:  Side note...I love watching Heung Min Son play...   So good.

AnOldBrownie

So now two publications are jumping on the report posted on the Telegraph about Spurs closing in on a deal for 20 million.

Telegraph...started this.
Cartiliage Free Captain...jumped on board.
Metro...(tagged as GOSSIP)...posted as well.

Hmmm...   guess we'll see.   I still doubt Sess goes for anything above 15 million.   I could be wrong though.

I don't think the fact that he might not slip straight into the Spurs first team hasn't gone through his head. However he will have a greater sense of how good he is, compared to you or me. From an early age he'd have people telling him how special he is and to play in the first team as he has for us, he will believe in his abilities and he will believe he's good enough. The fact he's chosen Spurs and particularly their manager to continue his development. Suggests he and his advisors have given it a lot of thought and maybe running down his contract was a decision taken some time back.
If the current purchases/ deals take us back to the Premiership and hopefully are paid for by his sale. Then we all win.

Riversider

Just had a flick through #THFC on Twitter, and they all seem to think that Sessegnon will be playing left back for them this season in The Premier League, boy are they in for a surprise,
He's never looked good enough for Fulham at left back so next to no chance of him being good enough for Spurs, if they want a left back they should have beaten Arsenal to Kieran Tierney, I'm going to be fascinated to see what happens to his career now.

KJS

If he's playing left back then they obviously haven't watched him play in that position as he is not a defender

hovewhite

Who knows what pochitteno has a say if this is true let's watch and find out.

Captain Fulhamerica

Not buying any of the specifics mentioned in the article, but it does seem like it's only a matter of time now before he joins Spurs. We may never learn all the clauses in the deal.

Can't blame a young player for wanting to make the move to a big club. I originally wondered if they might loan him back to us for a season, but it doesn't seem likely now.

AnOldBrownie

Poch may not even be there manager after this season.

And the idea that the Spurs managenent would be willing to try and start this season with Sess replacing either.. BEN Davies, cater jones or danny rose... All better defenders... Is crazy. They are trying to win the League or Champions League.

TC's Sporran

Andy Robertson at Hull City in the premier league when they got relegated. Barely looked a premier league quality player much like Sess last season.

Hard to look good in a side surrounded by average to poor players.
Robertson
Signed for Liverpool, a tiny bit of coaching and surrounded by much better players and at times he looks a world beater. Total transformation within 1 season.
This could easily happen to Ryan. But not at Liverpool. But who knows?

Will never know but newspapers say we want 45 million and spurs willing to pay 25 million doesn't sound great from outside. However as we will never know not going to get worked up. Maybe 25 and a player

.. as in 25M + Danny Rose?
Logical is just in the name - don't expect it has anything to do with my thought process, because I AM the man who sold the world.

I think £45m for Sessegnon is better value than everyone realizes, even Atiye is worth around £3m and Sessegnon could be worth much more than that in 12 years (their age difference). Ryan Sessegnon has about 5 years of football before is even Anguissa age. R.Sess could be the steal of the century at £25m, this year could be the turning point where Tottenham leap frogged Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea.

QuoteNow, a report from Footballinsider247 claims that a medical for Sessegnon has been 'pencilled in' ahead of a £25million move to Tottenham.

Ok...that was reported 3 days ago.   Do we have confirmation...or is that just more of English transfer media being English media?

AnOldBrownie

Surprisingly quiet on the Ryan Sess front.

For a player that's suppose to be vital to Spurs winning either the Champions League or the EPL cup they sure are taking their sweet time bringing him in.

Yeah, I know these things can take time.   But Spurs have apparently wanted Ryan Sessegnon for 3 years yet they can't figure out how to come to an agreement with Tony Khan yet?

I still think either Ryan Sessegnon is hurt, or the offer that Fulham and Ryan thought would come from Spurs never happened...so Fulham are more than happy to let Ryan play his last year at Fulham then see what happens.

From Fulham's perspective I still see Ryan as a vital depth player on the squad for this season.   Hope he's still here in two weeks.
