'Disgraceful' – Plenty of Fulham fans left fuming at player departure

Fulham goalkeeper Fabri has completed a season-long loan move to Spanish side Real Mallorca, the London club have confirmed on their official club website.

The 31-year-old arrived at Craven Cottage from Besiktas last summer for a reported £5m fee, after making a total of 83 appearances during his two-year stay with the Turkish giants.

But the Spaniard failed to be given a real chance to impress under both Slavisa Jokanovic and Claudio Ranieri, falling behind the likes of Marcus Bettinelli and Sergio Rico in the pecking order.

Fabri made just two appearances for Fulham in all competitions last season, both of which coming in the first two games of the Premier League season against Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur.

And after failing to play a single game for the Cottagers in over a year, Real Mallorca have now completed the season-long loan signing of the experienced shot-stopper on deadline day.

Here, we take a look at what Fulham fans have made of this departure...

LB Hammersmith and Fulham - Work begins to repair Hammersmith Bridge

Following detailed investigation by a team of world-leading specialist engineers, Transport for London and Hammersmith & Fulham Council have agreed the works needed to repair Hammersmith Bridge. The first stage of the work has now begun and TfL has provided £25million to pay for it.

TfL and H&F Council are continuing to explore the most appropriate funding for the next phase of construction, ahead of the planned award of a contract for the next stage of the works next spring. The work is expected to take approximately three years.

"Hammersmith Bridge is not only a beautiful example of innovative 19-century British engineering, it's also a vital 21st-century river-crossing," said Cllr Stephen Cowan, Leader of the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham. "It can be made fit for purpose for generations to come. That's what we're doing and we're focussed on getting the bridge reopened to cars and buses as quickly as possible."

"This comprehensive structural review was the first in decades. It has revealed corrosion and significant failings throughout the 132-year-old suspension structure that, had they been allowed to continue unchecked, would have been a threat to public safety.

"I am grateful to Transport for London and the Mayor of London for their help with designing this scheme, and for working closely with us to get the bridge fully and quickly restored.

"I'm also grateful to Cllr Gareth Roberts, the Leader of Richmond Council, and his team, for their constructive approach to getting the bridge re-opened as quickly as possible. Working together we are doing everything we can for local residents and businesses on both sides of the river to minimise disruption."

Early stage estimates indicate the work could cost £120m, although as this is purely early estimates it includes a contingency due to the unknowns, complexities and challenges inherent in repairing such an aged, Historic England listed structure. Engineers will continue to refine this estimate as the project progresses. TfL and H&F Council are continuing to explore the most appropriate funding route for the main construction.

Garry Sterritt, TfL's Head of Asset Investment, said: "This bridge is not only a historic and iconic structure in west London, but an important transport link - connecting people across the river and supporting local economies. We're committed to supporting the next stages of the project, and will work with Hammersmith & Fulham Council to identify the best way to pay for the later stages of the refurbishment."

Cllr Gareth Roberts, Leader of Richmond Council, added: "We now know that Hammersmith Bridge needs serious restoration work following many years of heavy traffic usage. And I am pleased that Hammersmith & Fulham Council and TfL have found a way forward in funding part of the repair work. Over 2,000 local people and businesses from Richmond upon Thames told us in a recent survey that they are keen for the bridge to be repaired and reopened as soon as possible and whilst people will have to bear with the situation for a little while longer, the works will ensure that the bridge is future-proofed for many more decades.

"We will continue to ensure that local people are updated regularly on the work, including the continued commitment from TfL to reviewing the local transport network, to ensuring that any impacts on our borough is mitigated."

Repair plan agreed

Once completed, the refurbishment will enable cars and buses (including the heavier electric single-deckers) to cross the bridge. But to prevent future damage, TfL will continue to limit the flow of buses on and off the bridge.

More details about Hammersmith Bridge:www.lbhf.gov.uk/bridge

Notes to editors

Why was the bridge closed?

In April, several hairline micro-fractures were discovered in the cast iron casing around the pedestals that have held the suspension chains in place since 1887.

They were only discovered because of the comprehensive structural integrity review and on-going safety checks commissioned by H&F Council in 2015.

Cast iron can shatter - one reason why this is the only bridge of its kind in the world - so the micro-fractures were a huge worry. The council immediately closed the bridge for safety reasons.

State of the City

The 'State of the City Report' produced by London Councils and the London Technical Advisers Group, shows that the condition of highway assets in London is declining - https://www.lotag.co.uk/project-3

Keeping local authority infrastructure, such as Hammersmith Bridge in good condition is essential to reducing congestion. This ensures the wider road network keeps moving safely and productively, efficiently connecting people and communities to goods and services. However, without the certainty of steady, sustained and long-term funding to allow London to cover the cost of all of its own infrastructure maintenance, weight and traffic restrictions could be required in other locations until sustained funding can be found.

Mitigating the impact of the closure

TfL has reorganised buses in the area to ensure that residents still have a well-connected public transport network while the bridge remains closed.

It will also enhance its Dial-a-Ride services to provide another option for people with impaired mobility whose journeys might have been affected by the closure.

TfL has changed traffic signals in the area to reduce the impact of the closure, and will continue to monitor how traffic responds.

Fulham send £5.4 million man out on loan to Real Mallorca

Fulham goalkeeper Fabri has joined Real Mallorca on loan.

The 31-year-old will spend the season with the La Liga side, as announced by the Whites' official club website.

Fabri, who has represented Spain Under-20's in the past, has found himself down Fulham's goalkeeping pecking order behind Marcus Betenelli and Marek Rodak.

The experienced shot stopper only joined the London side last summer from Besiktas for a fee of around £5.4 million but struggled to establish himself as their number one as they were relegated from the Premier League after a single season.

Fabri will now be hoping to help Mallorca stay up in the Spanish top flight in this campaign following their promotion from the Segunda Division last season. They are currently sitting 14th after three games.

The Las Palmas-born stopper has racked up over 200 appearances so far in his career. He started out with Deportivo La Coruna but never quite managed to break into their starting side as a youngster so moved onto have spells at Real Betis and Real Vallodolid.

Deportivo re-signed him in 2013 and he spent three years back at the Estadio Riazor before moving to Turkish giants Besiktas.

Fabri helped them win the Turkish Super Lig in 2017 and then moved to Fulham last year. It hasn't worked out for him at Craven Cottage but he will now be relishing the opportunity of moving to Mallorca.

West Brom's injuries and suspensions - those pesky inconveniences that get in the way of Albion fielding their strongest team from one week to the next.

This is you one-stop shop for all the latest news on the Albion players on the treatment table or the naughty step.

We'll update it each week with the absentees, potential return dates and thoughts of the man in the dugout.

We'll also keep you updated on those at risk of a suspension, be it a straight red card or an accumulation of yellows.

Then, further down, are details about the current casualties sidelined by injury.

SUSPENSIONS

It's early days in the new season, but to date Albion have no suspensions to worry about.

Romaine Sawyers and Nathan Ferguson have collected two bookings, while Semi Ajayi, Kieran Gibbs and Matheus Pereira have one apiece to their name.

INJURIES
Gareth Barry

Injury: Knee

Barry missed the end of last season after undergoing surgery on his knee. His contract was up this past summer, but he continued to use the club's training facilities in the close season as his rehabilitation began.

Slaven Bilic has confirmed he'll give him a new deal when he proves his fitness, but Barry is a little way off from being involved.

Last match played: Leeds 4 West Brom 0 - Friday, March 1

Potential return date: N/A

What Bilic said: "He is still a little bit behind. He is getting there. He hasn't had a set-back. No. But he thought he was going to be a bit quicker.

"There is no pain, no problems. Like I say, no set-backs. He just has to build and get a bit stronger.

"Everything is going according to plan. He is strengthening his quad to make less pressure on his knee. He's getting there."

Ahmed Hegaz
Injury: Ankle

Hegazi had a short summer break before representing his native Egypt in the African Nations Cup this past summer. There was then a mutually agreed decision made for the centre-back to undergo necessary surgery on his ankle and sacrifice the beginning of Albion's campaign.

Last match played (for WBA): West Brom 1 Aston Villa 0 - Tuesday 14 May

Potential return date: End of September/early October

What Bilic said (in mid-August): "With Hegazi, he's ahead of the schedule. It's still four or five weeks. He's a good professional and you know him better than me - he's crying to come back.

"It's great to have somebody like that in the squad. He's four or five weeks away."

Kieran Gibbs
Injury : Groin

Last match played: Derby 1 West Brom 1 - Saturday August 24

Potential return date: Fulham v West Brom - Saturday September 14

What Bilic said: "Gibbo got injured at Derby, that's an old injury that he has with his groin. It happens a few times a season, it's nothing major but it's enough to keep him out for a few weeks."

Conor Townsend
Injury: Unspecified

Last match played: West Brom 1 Millwall 2 - Tuesday 13 August

Potential return date: Fulham v West Brom - Saturday 14 September

What Bilic said: "Conor unfortunately felt something. It's a matter of days. He's a guy who didn't miss a game last season, he was available every game.

"If the [Blackburn] game was let's say in a couple of days, he'd probably be fine. But unfortunately it isn't, it's one of those situations."

Tottenham 'chasing Fulham prospect Steven Sessegnon' a month after signing his twin brother Ryan

Tottenham are planning on trying to sign Ryan Sessegnon's twin brother Steven
The 19-year-old defender has made huge impressions with Fulham this season
Sessegnon's recent performances have seen him earn a call-up to England U21

Tottenham are 'looking to sign Fulham's bright prospect Steven Sessegnon' - just a month after signing his twin brother.

The Premier League side reportedly saw an offer in region of £3million in the summer rebuffed by Fulham, having failed to come even remotely close to their valuation of the player.

The Sun claim that Fulham chiefs are bracing themselves for another bid from Spurs for their young talent, who has started their last four Championship games.

Tottenham are reportedly looking to try and sign Fulham youngster Steven Sessegnon

The 19-year-old has been rewarded for his fine form recently with a call-up to England U21

Tottenham signed his brother Ryan from Fulham in the summer for a £25m fee and will continue to monitor Steven throughout the season.

Sessegnon, who is signed up to a contract until 2022, has impressed in recent weeks, mainly playing at right-back but he can also operate from centre half and in midfield.

The 19-year-old's early-season form was rewarded with a call-up to the England Under-21 squad, who face Turkey and Kosovo between now and next Monday.

Fulham will hope Sessegnon can continue to play a significant role in their bid to win promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

Scott Parker's men have made a decent start and currently occupy the final play-off place, having picked up 10 points from their opening six games.

Report: Fulham fear Tottenham will return for Steven Sessegnon

Tottenham Hotspur reportedly want to sign Steven Sessegnon in 2020.

According to The Sun, Tottenham Hotspur are still in the hunt for Fulham defender Steven Sessegnon after failing with a summer bid.

Spurs landed Ryan Sessegnon from the Cottagers this summer, finally landing him on deadline day after being linked with him for more than two years.

Having arrived with an injury, Spurs fans are yet to see Sessegnon make his debut for the club, but they may yet see his brother join him in 2020.

It's claimed that Spurs still want Ryan's twin Steven, and Fulham fear that Spurs will be back to sign the 19-year-old when the transfer window re-opens in January.

The report states that Spurs offered just £3million for Steven this past summer, which Fulham rejected as they felt it was 'derisory'.

The right back is featuring prominently for Scott Parker this season, starting four Championship games whilst impressing both defensively and in the final third.

Whilst Ryan plays on the left, Steven plays on the right, and his ability to play at centre back and, most importantly, right back – a position of real concern for Spurs – makes him very appealing.

Spurs have some work to do after their first bid was snubbed, and they'll surely be keeping tabs on his progress ahead of the January transfer window, when they'll look to reunite Ryan and Steven in North London.

Tottenham set to go back in for Championship star after having £3M transfer offer rejected in summer

Spurs are set to make another move for Fulham youngster Steven Sessegnon just months after having a £3M offer for the youngster turned down by the Championship outfit.

Pochettino's side signed Steven's brother, Ryan Sessegnon, this summer, as they looked to bolster their options down their left-hand side.

And now, it seems like the north London side are looking to seal a family reunion in the near future, as the Sun are stating that Tottenham are set to go back in for Sessegnon after having a £3M offer for the player turned down earlier this summer.

The report notes that the Lilywhites tried to seal a £3M move for Steven whilst they were agreeing a £25M deal for his brother Ryan, a move that would've been a very cheeky one had the club managed to pull it off!

19-year-old Sessegnon has been very impressive for Scott Parker's side so far this year, with the teenager contributing significantly to the club's good start to life back in the Championship following their relegation from the Premier League last term.

This form has even seen Sessegnon earn a call-up to England's U21 squad for their matches against Turkey and Kosovo in the coming days, something that's deserved given how he's been playing for Fulham as of late.

Sessegnon has been known to be able to play all across the defence, a factor that'll definitely come in handy for Pochettino's side in the future should the player end up swapping west London for north London.

Tottenham to launch January right-back bid after summer snub

Tottenham have already switched their attention to January transfer targets, with a new right-back high on their agenda.

Spurs sold England star Kieran Trippier to Atletico Madrid this summer, while it is common knowledge that Sergie Aurier does not have a long-term future in north London.

That leaves youngsters Kyle Walker-Peters and Juan Foyth as the club's main right-back options, although the latter has played the majority of his career centrally.

And with that in mind, The Sun claims that Spurs remain keen on signing another Sessegnon from Fulham.

Having already brought in Ryan Sessegnon over the summer, twin brother Steven will now be the subject of further interest in the new year.

Fulham are said to have rejected a £3million offer from Spurs when they were negotiating a deal for his brother, and while injured Ryan is yet to make an appearance for his new side, Steven has started four of Fulham's Championship games at right-back.

Steven Sessegnon's Craven Cottage contract runs out in 2022, with Fulham also having the option to extend the deal by an additional 12 months, which is likely to mean that Spurs will have to up their offer significantly to get their man.

Report: Tottenham want versatile Fulham youngster Steven Sessegnon

The Cottagers starlet has made a decent start to the 2019/20 campaign.

Tottenham Hotspur are keen to pair Ryan Sessegnon back up with his twin brother Steven during the January transfer window, according to The Sun.

The Fulham defender has already been the subject of a £3 million bid from Tottenham; a move that was slammed as 'derisory' by the Cottagers.

A previous attempt to land Sessegnon was made when Tottenham nabbed brother Ryan for £25 million during the summer transfer window (The Sun).

Sessegnon is primarily a right-back but can operate at centre-back and in midfield too. He has been a key member of Scott Parker's team this season, starting four of Fulham's six Championship games so far.

The 19-year-old has been called into Aidy Boothroyd's England Under-21 squad for the first time. He could be involved in games with Turkey and Kosovo in the next week.

Prising Sessegnon away from Fulham could prove every bit as tricky as the deal involving the summer swoop for Ryan. Steven signed a contract extension at Fulham in 2017 which should keep him at Craven Cottage until 2022.

TBR Verdict – Sessegnon addition does make sense

Ryan might have to wait a little while to make his Tottenham debut due to injury, but signing his brother does hold some logic.

Steven is an astute player and his form for the first-team so far this season indicates he could have a bright future in the game.

The fact he is comfortable in three positions makes him an attractive signing and is certainly a trait that Mauricio Pochettino likes his players to have.

It is unclear at this stage how much Tottenham would have to pay for Sessegnon but he is unlikely to come cheap.

Fulham have the luxury of having Sessegnon on a long-term contract and that leaves the ball firmly in their court.

It remains to be clear what opening offer Tottenham will make and it will be interesting to see if they do make a bid to sign him in January or not.

I don't think I can cope with another 2 year saga of spuds and Sessegnon . 093.gif 093.gif
Watching the ups and downs since 1958, wouldn't have it any other way, what a roller coaster of a club.

This blatant tapping up has to stop. With him having 3 years plus an option we can tell Levy to do one for another 3years or pay us £100 mil plus Kane in January.
