Ex-Fulham, Reading and Hull City man enjoying role at Derby County

Liam Rosenior is enjoying his role as Specialist First Team Coach at Derby County and is impressed by the club's young players.

The Rams boss Phillip Cocu turned to the 35-year-old as part of his backroom staff over the summer.

Rosenior, who retired from playing in 2018, racked up over 400 appearances as a full-back for the likes of Fulham, Reading, Hull City and Brighton and Hove Albion.

He is keen to get into management in the future so is learning all he can from his spell as a coach at Derby.

Rosenior believes the future is bright for the Rams' youngster and has been talking to their official club website: "I can see the process and the way of working. We've seen a lot of debuts for our young players coming through for players such as Jason Knight, Lee Buchanan, Morgan Whittaker and Louie Sibley already so far this season."

"They have all done really, really well since coming into the team in different moments in the two cup games and also in the league in Jason and Lee's case too."

He added: "We have so many talented young players in the squad that we have brought in or have come up through our Academy and we need to guide them and give them the best opportunity to not just play well, but win games of football because that is what it's all about.

"Obviously we're disappointed not to have more points at this stage but we will keep working hard to make sure we pick up more points from the next block of games before the international break in October."

Hegazi, Gibbs and Townsend: West Brom's injury list ahead of Fulham

The latest WBA injury and suspension bulletin

West Brom's injuries and suspensions - those pesky inconveniences that get in the way of Albion fielding their strongest team from one week to the next.

This is you one-stop shop for all the latest news on the Albion players on the treatment table or the naughty step.

We'll update it each week with the absentees, potential return dates and thoughts of the man in the dugout.

We'll also keep you updated on those at risk of a suspension, be it a straight red card or an accumulation of yellows.

Then, further down, are details about the current casualties sidelined by injury.

SUSPENSIONS

It's early days in the new season, but to date Albion have no suspensions to worry about.

Romaine Sawyers and Nathan Ferguson have collected two bookings, while Semi Ajayi, Kieran Gibbs and Matheus Pereira have one apiece to their name.

INJURIES
Gareth Barry

Injury: Knee

Barry missed the end of last season after undergoing surgery on his knee. His contract was up this past summer, but he continued to use the club's training facilities in the close season as his rehabilitation began.

Slaven Bilic has confirmed he'll give him a new deal when he proves his fitness, but Barry is a little way off from being involved.

Last match played: Leeds 4 West Brom 0 - Friday, March 1

Potential return date: N/A

What Bilic said: "He is still a little bit behind. He is getting there. He hasn't had a set-back. No. But he thought he was going to be a bit quicker.

"There is no pain, no problems. Like I say, no set-backs. He just has to build and get a bit stronger.

"Everything is going according to plan. He is strengthening his quad to make less pressure on his knee. He's getting there."

Ahmed Hegazi

Injury: Ankle

Hegazi had a short summer break before representing his native Egypt in the African Nations Cup this past summer. There was then a mutually agreed decision made for the centre-back to undergo necessary surgery on his ankle and sacrifice the beginning of Albion's campaign.

Last match played (for WBA): West Brom 1 Aston Villa 0 - Tuesday 14 May

Potential return date: End of September/early October

What Bilic said (in mid-August): "With Hegazi, he's ahead of the schedule. It's still four or five weeks. He's a good professional and you know him better than me - he's crying to come back.

"It's great to have somebody like that in the squad. He's four or five weeks away."

Kieran Gibbs

Injury : Groin

Last match played: Derby 1 West Brom 1 - Saturday August 24

Potential return date: Fulham v West Brom - Saturday September 14

What Bilic said: "Gibbo got injured at Derby, that's an old injury that he has with his groin. It happens a few times a season, it's nothing major but it's enough to keep him out for a few weeks."

Conor Townsend

Injury : Unspecified

Last match played: West Brom 1 Millwall 2 - Tuesday 13 August

Potential return date: Fulham v West Brom - Saturday 14 September

What Bilic said: "Conor unfortunately felt something. It's a matter of days. He's a guy who didn't miss a game last season, he was available every game.

"If the [Blackburn] game was let's say in a couple of days, he'd probably be fine. But unfortunately it isn't, it's one of those situations."

Player Profile: Michael Hector

Fulham recently announced the signing of Michael Hector from Chelsea for an undisclosed fee. Brilliant, but what will he offer Scott Parker's fold and, ultimately, who is he? Cam Ramsey plates up a little insight to quell those lingering curiosities.

Hector will be eligible for selection from January, when he joins the Whites officially, although he's currently being put through his paces at Motspur Park. The 27-year-old will represent the club until at least 2022, and even then, there's also an option to extend his stay by the river by a further year if necessary.

By all accounts, Sheffield Wednesday fans were devastated that he didn't return to Hillsborough. Hector was an endeared character in South Yorkshire, having spent the 2018-19 campaign on loan at the Owls, a temporary spell where the strapping centre-half played 39 times in all competitions, scoring two goals in the process.

The defender was subsequently dubbed Wednesday's Player of the Season, reinforcing his regard as a reliable, trusted component at Championship level. He's not your everyday, run of the mill bench warmer, that's for sure.

A fully-fledged Jamaica international, Hector has genuine pedigree. Earning 30 caps for his nation since his debut in 2015, the commanding defender's flown the flag for the Reggae Boyz at the Copa America and in the 2015 Gold Cup Final, a historic affair that Jamaica unfortunately lost 3-1 to Mexico.

Beginning his career at Reading, Hector – until now – hadn't been able to settle at one club alone. Before Chelsea purchased him from the Royals in 2015, Hector had been shipped out to a range of differing destinations, including Havant and Waterlooville FC, Bracknell Town, Horsham FC, Aberdeen, the list is endless.

The trend continued at Stamford Bridge, too. Slated for their infamous loan policy, the Blues leased him back to the Royals immediately and then, after a prosperous return the Madejski, the dispensable defender embarked on a season-long switch to Germany with Eintracht Frankfurt in 2016, a move that comprised an outing in the DFB-Pokal Final against Borussia Dortmund.

Further temporary spells at Hull City and Wednesday, of course, followed his stretch in the Bundesliga, compounding a disrupted, neglected career. Remaining in SW6 for the foreseeable future, though, Hector finally has an opportunity to bed himself into blueprints indefinitely and that will aid our long-term projections.

Hector's been drafted in to shake up Parker's selection process. Promotion is the objective and if he's in the mix, with a rejuvenated sense of worth, our gaffer will have a positive matchday conundrum on his hands. Dislodging either Alfie Mawson or, most likely, Tim Ream will be his ambition and I'm all for it. Competition breeds effective results, and if there's one area that needs patching up, it's our creaky back four.

Able footed, confident, aerially assertive, Hector embodies all that a defender in England's second-tier should be. Like Mawson and Ream, the London-born enforcer will dispense possession attentively and will charge out of his department determinedly. Beneficially, he'll inject our spine with indomitable power, an aptitude that's warranted reward and recognition.

Is Hector held within the same bracket as Aden Flint, Sean Morrison and Pontus Jansson amongst others? Not yet, perhaps, but with the promise routine and continuity in the second-half of the campaign in the offing, who's to say that he can't establish himself as a true hardened stickler in this division?

He won't walk straight into the starting XI, but once he's adapted to Parker's regime, I've no doubt that Hector will become a fundamental member of the Whites' promotion-chasing class of 2019-20 and beyond. Undervalued at the dog track, Hector's new home is on the banks of the Thames with London's Originals, a place of serenity, tranquillity and glorious black and white splendour.

Manager convinced Crystal Palace player to return to national team – Got help from Fulham star

Crystal Palace's Luka Milivojević's last appearance for Serbia came in their 2-1 defeat to Switzerland at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Since then the 28-year-old has not made it to any of the international fixtures and has been focusing only on the Premier League club.

Serbian publication Mondo explains the Eagles midfielder had an argument with his then manager Mladen Krstajić and after that incident, he decided not to be part of the national team.

Following Serbia's 5-0 defeat Ukraine in a Euro 2020 qualifier in June, Krstajić was shown the exit door and replaced by Ljubiša Tumbaković as the new manager.

The report explain Tumbaković made a trip to London to persuade the Palace player to return to the national team and he also had a help from Fulham's Aleksandar Mitrović.

It's claimed 'smiles are back again' after the Palace player's return, and the Cottagers striker has publicly expressed his delight following Milivojević's inclusion in the Serbia squad.

"It is no surprise to me that Luka is back. Luka is a great patriot who loves his country and I know that it was difficult for him not to have been there in the previous matches, but he is here again and I am very happy that he returned – both for myself and for him," Mitrović explained.

"We all positively welcomed his return to the team. I know it is a great honour for him to be back again."

The Fulham star believes Milivojević will bring stability to Serbia's midfield while playing alongside Manchester United's Nemanja Matic.

Serbia registered a 4-1 win over Lithuania and they face Portugal later today.
