International Round-Up

Bobby Decordova-Reid's Jamaica career was a mere 31 minutes old when he notched his first international goal, the second in a 6-0 routing of Antigua & Barbuda in the Nations League.

Steven Sessegnon also had a winning debut, marking his England Under-21s bow with a 3-2 victory over Turkey in Friday's European Championship Qualifier.

Operating at left-back, Sessegnon almost marked his first appearance with a goal, only to fire marginally wide after being fed by Phil Foden.

Goals from Eddie Nketiah (2) and Reiss Nelson ensured the Young Lions got their qualifying campaign off to a winning start, and they're back in action on Monday evening when they face Kosovo in Hull.

There was a milestone appearance, too, for Stefan Johansen, who picked up his 50th cap for Norway in their 2-0 win over Malta.

His 51st appearance three days later then saw him open the scoring against Sweden, but their Scandinavian rivals hit back to earn a 1-1 draw in Stockholm.

Another Fulham man on the scoresheet was Aleksandar Mitrović, but his thunderbolt proved to be in vain as Serbia were beaten 4-2 by Portugal.

Elsewhere, England Under-18s are competing in a four-team tournament, with Fabio Carvalho featuring in each of their matches so far.

They kicked things off with a 3-2 win over Australia and then drew 1-1 with Brazil, with whom they currently share top spot in the group. A final day victory over Korea Republic will now be the target as they look to win the mini tournament.

Jean Michael Seri files criminal complaint for fraud against Nice over Fulham move

Jean Michael Seri has filed a fraud complaint against Nice

Jean Michael Seri has filed a criminal complaint of fraud against Nice relating to his move to Fulham in July 2018.

Seri, who is currently on loan at Galatasaray, joined the Craven Cottage club along with Maxime Le Marchand for a combined fee of around €25m.

The breakdown of that fee given at the time - according to Seri's lawyers was €12m for Seri and more than €12.6m for Le Marchand.

Maxime Le Marchand (left) joined Fulham alongside Seri

However, the midfielder claims the Ligue 1 club undervalued him in order to avoid paying him a "transfer premium" bonus and says he is owed at least €700,000, while insisting that some of his previous clubs would also be entitled to damages due to various sell-on clauses and a FIFA solidarity tax, which would take the figure to more than €1m.

His lawyers claim that, according to a report by the International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES) Football Observatory, if Fulham paid nearly €25m for the two players then €18.7m would "correspond to the transfer value of Mr Seri" with the other €6m to Le Marchand's.

A statement from his lawyers said: "According to the information available to Mr Seri, setting up a 'double transfer' to Fulham FC OGC Nice was thus able to grossly underestimate the amount of transfer due by Fulham FC with regard to Mr Seri and - correlatively - grossly overestimate the transfer amount relating to Mr Le Marchand.

"In the end, Fulham would have paid an amount of €12m for Mr Seri... and more than €12.6m for Mr Le Marchand. For those who know the transfer market, it is obvious that these numbers are quite strange.

The Fulham midfielder is currently on loan at Galatasaray

"To illustrate the value that these two players represent in the eyes of Fulham FC, it is sufficient to point out that the salary granted to Mr Seri is approximately three times higher than that granted to Mr Le Marchand."

Nice have previously denied this claim and Sky Sports News have contacted Fulham for a response.

The French club are now owned by Ineos, the energy group run by British billionaire Jim Ratcliffe, who completed a takeover late last month.

Seri's statement added: "Mr Seri hopes that Ineos, which did not own OGC Nice at the time of the events, will be keen to shed complete light on this matter very quickly."

Fulham player pressing charges against former club – Accuses them of 'manipulating' transfer value

Now far away from Fulham on loan at Galatasaray, Jean-Michaël Seri is trying to relaunch his career after a very tepid season at Craven Cottage.

That hasn't gone to plan just yet, as the Ivory Coast international was pulled out of his debut at half-time before being sent off in his second league game, a red card he is currently serving a suspension for.

Off the pitch, Seri is also facing battles, as he and his lawyers have pressed charges against former club OGC Nice for 'manipulating' his value on the transfer market in order to avoid paying him a 'part of a transfer percentage he was contractually owed', all relayed by L'Equipe.

What they believe happened was Nice 'overvalued' Maxime Le Marchand, who was also sold to Fulham, valuing both at €12m each while it should have been €18m for Seri and €6m for the French defender.

The player's lawyers believe he is owed around €700k, and add there are other victims in this: his two clubs in Ivory Coast (ASEC Mimosas and Centre Cyrille Domoraud) as well as his first European club (Paços de Ferreira).

The Portuguese side were apparently owed 15% of any profit of a future sale, and it's believed the total all three have missed out on is 'more than €1m'.

With Nice now owned by Ineos, Sir Jim Ratcliffe's company, there's hope something will be sorted soon, but as of Monday lunchtime, the Ligue 1 club have yet to react

"Completely inaccurate" – Club chief reacts to Fulham owned player's recent accusations

Earlier on Monday, we covered a story in the French media about Jean-Michaël Seri pressing charges against his former club OGC Nice.

The Ivory Coast international and his lawyers felt the Ligue 1 side had purposefully 'undervalued' him in his transfer to Fulham in order to avoid paying around €700k of a fee he was owed from the deal.

They also claimed three of Seri's former clubs were owed more than €1m between them from this, as Nice eventually valued both him and Maxime Le Marchand at €12m each rather than asking for €18m for the midfielder and €6m for the defender.

When the L'Equipe article was published, Nice had yet to comment on the matter, but they have done so since then, speaking to AFP and relayed by France Bleu Azur in the early afternoon.

The Ligue 1 side's director of football stated all of it was 'completely inaccurate', adding the deal with Fulham was done 'easily'.

In fact, he believes Seri and his advisors perhaps 'overvalued' what they thought the midfielder was worth at the time.

The West Brom player who should be banging on Bilic's door ahead of Fulham clash

West Bromwich Albion have made a positive start to their first season under head coach Slaven Bilic and are unbeaten in the Championship so far.

Bilic took charge at the Hawthorns earlier this summer and has already brought in ten new players, as he looks to build a team capable of challenging for promotion from the Championship this season.

Some of his new signings will be pleased with their early-season performances, while others will probably feel that they have a point to prove going into the game against Fulham after the international break.

One player who should be banging on Bilic's door ahead of the clash at Craven Cottage is attacking midfielder Matheus Pereira.

The 23-year-old has made just four league appearances for the Baggies, since joining on a loan-to-buy deal from Sporting Lisbon on transfer deadline day.

The Brazilian was handed his first Championship start against Blackburn Rovers last time out and produced a stunning first-half display, as Albion blew their opponents away with three goals in the space of 18 minutes.

The forward completely ran the show in the first half and provided the Baggies with some extra intensity and creative spark in attack.

His weight of pass for the equalising goal for Matt Phillips was sublime and he also teed up Jake Livermore for Albion's second goal minutes later.

The attacker was able to find little pockets of space behind the striker and play incisive passes through to the forward players. He was full of energy, causing the defenders all sorts of problems with his pace and skill on the ball.

Even though it has taken him a bit of time to make an impact at the Hawthorns, Pereira has shown that he could turn out to be a fantastic signing for the Baggies.

After his performance against Blackburn, Bilic has surely got to start him against Fulham at the weekend.

Filip Krovinovic is a talented footballer, who is also very skilled with the ball and has an impressive range of passing, but he often slows things down.

West Brom have got a very good attacking threat and the likes of Phillips and Grady Diangana can hurt teams with their pace, but it is only effective if they can get the ball to these players quickly.

Krovinovic often takes too long on the ball and slows things down, allowing the opposition defenders to get back behind the ball, whereas Pereira is sharp and often knows where he wants to play the ball before he even receives it.

Bilic is a big admirer of Krovinovic having followed his career since his time in Croatia, but he is an experienced coach and is not normally afraid to make the important decisions.

Things are starting to click for West Brom in the final third and it makes no sense for Bilic to change things now.

Leaving Pereira in the side gives Albion the best chance of maintaining their unbeaten start against another very strong attacking side in Fulham.

'Very good move all round' – Chelsea player seals transfer switch to London club: The verdict

This article is part of Football League World's 'The Verdict' series, which provides personal opinions from the FLW writers regarding the latest breaking news, teams, players, managers, potential signings and more...

Fulham manager Scott Parker has not stopped looking to strengthen his squad, despite the closure of the transfer window with the Cottagers agreeing a deal to sign Chelsea defender Michael Hector in January 2020 for an undisclosed fee, as confirmed on the Fulham club website.

The 27-year-old has not made a senior appearance for the Blues since joining the Premier League club from Reading in September 2015, spending time back on loan with the Royals whilst also having stints with German side Eintracht Frankfurt, Hull City and Sheffield Wednesday.

So is the capture of Hector an astute signing by Fulham?

We discuss........

Gary Hutchinson

"Yes, it could be. I'm always a bit sceptical of deals that make a player unavailable until a certain date, but then again Michael Hector is a good defender.

"He did well at this level last season and if he's joining up with the squad know he won't need time to settle in come January.

"That's astute, but is there an element of him getting frustrated here as well? If he's around the squad and not playing, he might begin to lose a bit of focus.

"It's an interesting one; if it works it might become a blueprint for other club and future transfer dealings, something else the EFL will eventually have to address."

Dean Cooke

"Very good move all round, especially with Hector heading into his prime years. He's a very good centre-back for Championship level and has proved it on several occasions.

"He'll suit the way Fulham's style down to the ground due to his suitability to be able to play out from the back with calmness and composure two of his best traits.

"It could be the difference between promotion and staying in the Championship come the end of the season so it's a very good bit of business and one that both parties will be happy with."

George Harbey

"I think it's another fantastic piece of business from Fulham who just keep on getting stronger and stronger.

"Hector was excellent on loan with Sheffield Wednesday last summer, and it would have come as a massive blow to their fans when they failed to re-sign him from Chelsea.

"Wednesday's loss is Fulham's gain though – Hector is still at a good age, he knows the Championship well, and is a leader in defence.

"Next to Alfie Mawson, his presence at the back could be vital for Fulham, who will be hoping to occupy the automatic promotion spots come January time when he signs."
